Your problem sounds like your decay parameter setting. The basics for setting noise gate levels are this. Plug in but do not play at all. For now, make sure the decay is turned down. Turn the threshold parameter all the way up and then slowly lower it until you start hearing noise (white noise, hiss, whatever you want to call it). Then slowly raise the threshold right until the noise stops. The other thing is decay. Turn the decay up, strum a chord once and let it ring and fade out on its' own. It will more than likely cut the chord off too early. If it cuts off too early lower the decay and try again. Keep doing that until it sounds the way you want it to. That may mean hearing a little noise with your note. Hope this helps.

Forget the acoustic sim pedal in the Helix for an accurate acoustic sound. It sounds like what it is, a magnetic pickup, trying to sound like an acoustic guitar. I do use it to mold my Variax acoustics but from a magnetic pickup, it will be OK at best. Glen Delaune has some Acoustic sim patches for sale for the Helix and magnetic pickups. I believe they use different IR's for different magnetic pickup types. I have not gotten them so I cannot attest to their accuracy. https://www.glenndelaune.com/helix-patches.htm#!/Helix-Acoustic-Guitar-Simulations-Patches/p/390115125/category=117975648 UPDATE: I just looked at the description on the website and it does NOT mention magnetic pickups so I was wrong about that. Left it in case you wanted to check it out anyway.

I would like to see some kind of indicator to show how much DSP each path is using and how much is left. Maybe a percentage indicator. Ideascaled it here. https://line6.ideascale.com/c/idea/1050250

JTV-89F tuning selector knob availability

psarkissian, are you allowed to tell us if any knobs will ever become available again? Is it a shipping issue? I understand if you can't say anything. -
Thinking of converting to Helix LT from Fractal FM3
brue58ski replied to jackzucker's topic in Helix
There have been numerous posts that say that they are equal if you use IR's. I think the Fractal sounds slightly better using Line 6's cabs with the Helix's amps. AND there is a major update coming that, if the rumors are true, that the sound quality among other things will be going up. The words game changer have been used. Maybe wait until the update. It's referred to as 3.2 and the absolute soonest it will show up is sometime in September. As far as I know it is not in the beta testing stage so my guess would be more like October before it shows up. i would say at the very least, the Fractal definitely does not sound better enough to warrant paying so much more for it than the Helix. I love my Helix. -
This site has all of the old presets. from 2.8 and before. If it's there, you won't have to reboot. http://benvesco.com/store/line-6-helix/

Just curious, since most of the things in the marketplace are available without the encrypted license protection directly, is there any reason to get them from the marketplace. Why not get them directly from their website and avoid this. Is there some advantage to getting them from the marketplace that I don't know about?

Has the auto swell been suggested? I haven't tried the one in the Helix but the one in the POD XT could be set up so that you could play Van Halen's Cathedral without you having to control the volume. If all you want is a fade in on every note.

I actually found it. So need for it anymore. thank you for your efforts. -
Not sure if this is what you're trying to do and you may already know this but the reason this happens is because in order to engage the wah/volume you need to hit the toe switch which means you need to move the volume to full. If you set it up so that another switch on the pedal board does what the toe switch does I think the volume pedal will remain at the level you set it at. Not sure about this. I haven't tried it.

You can setup the Preset Footswitch Mode (the "main" mode) so that the top row are presets and the bottom row are snapshots (or the other way around I think). It's in the Global settings area.

Marshall 4x12 cab with Celestion G12T-75 speakers in it and mic'd with a Shure SM57 microphone. The last letters are mic positions and I agree with all of metallickids definitions of those. The cab specs are what you get with a Marshall 1960 cab. 1960 is not a year. It's the model number.

I'm not sure they're here now. Their original post was over 4 years ago. And it's the only thing they've ever posted.

JVT-89F Model LED Colors
brue58ski replied to StanPenn1's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The only time I've seen these colors mentioned in this forum, it needed a service ticket. I think one or two of them are a "danger Will Robinson" sign. -

Thank you for your efforts. I do have an ebay account but haven't used it like this. So if you post it on ebay, is it up for an auction or is there like a private sale area? -
I'm a dummy and bought a used JTV-59
brue58ski replied to TurbineTester's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Do you have a Line 6 Helix or HD500? You can connect to the Workbench HD edit program through them. I'm not so sure about updating but you can certainly check out if it's on the correct firmware version. Maybe you know someone that has one. It would save you $100. -
Excellent. Looks like the manual needs updating which I think it will be for the upcoming 3.20 firmware upgrade.

Two things you might try to get you closer. The guitar input pad and impedance selection. The guitar input has a pad that you can engage. It is in the Global menu / inputs/outputs submenu page 2. Unfortunately I think this means it's something you cannot change on a per patch bases. I do not remember how much the pad lowers the signal. I think it might be 6 dB. So if you want to change it for different patches, you will need to put a gain block at the very front of the patch or something similar and lower the input there. Check out page 11 of the manual for the global menu directions. The input impedance is in both the global menu and the inputs section of the patches. Check out pages 24 and 64 of the manual. I believe they each have different settings. Play with those two settings and see if that helps. You might want to check this out as well https://www.glenndelaune.com/helix-patches.htm#!/Helix-Guitar-Pick-up-Simulations-Patches/p/390114626/category=117975648 I have not personally tried them so I cannot speak to their accuracy. I tried looking for other places that might have IR's or patches that claim to help your guitar simulate other guitars but wasn't coming up with a lot. I didn't look too hard (that's your job (wink wink)) but I did find Glen's patch. So these are all the ways I know of to do what you want to do with the Helix. Good luck.

Correct that the SEND block needs no return if you don't need one

JTV-89F tuning selector knob availability
brue58ski replied to brue58ski's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Yes I did try Full Compass. A missing black cap is exactly why I want one. It's actually missing from the alt tuning knob. I may just get the 59 knob since it's the only one available. I would like to know if they will be available again eventually.
