  1. Those DTs sure look nice on stage!
  2. Yes! I'll take some pics and post my setup(s) soon. Do you run with cab modeling on or off?
  3. Check out this thread that has a lot of great info on both: http://line6.com/support/topic/13786-alto-ts112a-on-sale-at-gc/
  4. Very cool. The Alto doesn't have the DSP right? Edit: Nevermind went through those linked threads and got the info I needed.
  5. Love seeing this stuff. Not enough photos and videos of folks setups with the HD - keep em coming! Here's what I'm currently testing :D
  6. Hmm 1000 watts plus Alesis DSP interesting! http://alesis.com/alpha112
  7. I wonder what is different in the Alesis version? Cosmetically they look identical - I'm guessing bought the "rights" to the design? Either way, really happy so far with the Alto - can't wait to put it through it's paces at rehearsal.
  8. Thanks for checking it out! That track was actually my Mesa Rectoverb 25 through a CabClone, but our last full length was 95% Pod HD (and the album before that all Pod XT).
  9. I plan to debut the Alto TS112A at JJ's in San Jose on July 9th, unless I get cold feet and use the tube amp :D
  10. Finally pulled the trigger on the TS112A - looking forward to messing with it!
  11. Added it to my calendar - not totally sure if I can make it but it would be cool to check it out!

    Helix FAQ

Don't forget all that experience delivering solid hardware! The hardware on this looks top notch. Can't wait to see/hear it in person.
  13. Stoked that this has amp switching. I'll be able to everything with one unit now if I'm running 4CM.
  14. This may be a day one purchase for me. Can't wait to get more details on this.
  15. Glad you found a solution that is working for you. Keep in mind though that if you play somewhere with higher ceilings (or outdoor!) pointing it up may not be the best solution. It probably sounds smoother because you aren't getting as much high end frequencies right at your ears this way but it might be good to dial that out in your patches.
  16. Yeah the "live mode" cabs are descendants of what the Vetta used to have/has. The old Vetta 4x12 cab had "flatter" speakers in it so the idea was that you could select greenbacks or v30s and the eq would try to compensate and give a sound as if you were using one of those cabs. In practice I was never really a fan of this mode though and always just used "no cab". It's just another sound option, I'm sure in some setups it's that last little extra tweak that makes a good sound great.
  17. The only way to eliminate those changes is to go to in-ear monitoring. Otherwise it's always a compromise. The pole idea is a good one and try to notice the best placement where you are minimizing reflections off walls etc.
  18. Actually is was perapera that put together the signal routing stuff. Good stuff, check out this thread: http://line6.com/support/topic/2033-pod-hd-500-500x-new-routing-schematics/
  19. I use Guitar/Same most of the time unless I am actually using my Variax (and alot of times I just use my Variax through the regular guitar input. I generally always have the noise gate first in my patches so (to my ears) it alleviates the input doubling/boost thing that some people have issue with. Hurghanico (did I spell that right?) did a nice analysis of the signal chain and what happens with mono/stereo affects which I feel is correct based on my experience. I'll see if I can find the link. I use perapera's approach in that first thread you linked where I boost 6db using a EQ before the FX send. I've also done it using the mixer block and putting the FX send after the mixer. To me it sounds the same it just depends what your needs are for the patch. The best way to dial it in for your amp (fx loops vary) is to first work on the "front" of the amp and compare the tone and levels with and without the Pod. Once you get it where you want it then do the same thing with the loop. Another tip (again my preference) is to set the input impedence global to 1k - this disabled the impedence modeling and will give a consistent input impedance regardless of your pedal chain.
  20. Yes it works great once you get it all dialed in. I think it is as transparent as possible considering the all the AD/DA conversion happening, you'd be hard pressed to tell a difference in the band mix. I'm a nut about speed/ease of setup as I like to get on/off the stage as quickly as possible as a courtesy to the other bands so I wrapped the cables (including an extension cord to power the Pod) in a Pedal Python. It's a bit bulkier in the bag but setup is really easy. I recently added a midi cable so that I could run a Voodoo Lab control switcher to switch amp channels with patches too. That said, last gig I went two cable method because I've always changing up my rig ha ha.
  21. Yeah I hit up Dunkin_Dal but didn't hear back - I'll give him another ping as those braided cables look great!
  22. Cool, I'll give the besttronics one a try. Maybe mine is older stock or something? Both the one I got with my Vetta originally and the one I got more recently after picking up the JTV89 were/are essentially permanently coiled and I have to fight it a bit while moving around.
  23. I have the Line 6 Variax cable and it is just too stiff to use on stage, so looking for one of the alternatives that have more typical flexibility. I know someone was making them for a while, but I didn't get a reply to my PM so looking at this one now: http://btpa.com/98-030-004-XXX.html Anyone have this? How does it compare to a typical guitar cable?
  24. I have the Blackstar Fly 3 and the ID:Core 10. I agree with Kinslaya, the Fly 3 is pretty awesome as a stand alone battery powered thing but it is a bit underpowered for getting satisfying tone from an external unit. The ID:Core series on the other hand are pretty awesome and are killer standalone practice amps in their own right. They also have the mp3 input that bypasses all the modeling.
  25. Yes it should work pretty well sound wise as acoustic amps are generally mini PA's. I use my Fender Acousticasonic every now and then for jamming FRFR and it also doubles as a PA for open mics.
