  1. that's an 8ohm cab. You're good. Although, this post is about bass guitar. I don't know if the Egnater will work well on bass. Being that it is a guitar cab.
  2. YES, that is exactly what I want to do. I don't want to spend the extra $20. And then, after it blows up, I will blame L6 for making a horrible product.
  3. Why not use a splitter (a Y cable), so that your studio gets a signal that isn't being drained by the an unused object. -- which is why I know guys who use a one foot cord in the studio. They want the purest tone possible. Using the Pod, you could set up a left and right path. Set one as dry, and send it to the studio. Set the other wet, and send it to yourself.
  4. Are your patches saved? Meaning, did you click the send button on EDIT?
  5. Specific to this post - The great fantastic looper that technology gives still requires human interaction, which is why it is so hard to get right. The tech is perfect. We, however, are Corky's. Rendering the looper pointless. But it applies to the the entire device - How great are these Marshall models. Yet, some users complain about their tone because they are inept at dialing in tone.
  6. It seems like he means patches. Simply based on the fact that one of those "who has the bundle" posts was recently commented on. But you know what happens when you assume. We should quit trying to help people who refuse to help themselves.
  7. Your FX are gone, or your patches are gone? Do you no longer have access to wah and flanger and delay. Or did your patch that used wah, flanger, and delay disappear.
  8. All the technology in the world, and it is still useless because humans are dumb.
  9. You can't actually be that stupid, can you? I mean, have you ever reinstalled Windows on your computer. You can either overwrite the OS with the OS(never recommended), or you can format the drive and install it fresh - I hope you have everything backed up because it is gone. It's not our fault that people are idiots.

    POD 500x

the MANUALS. Yes, there is an S at the end of that word. There's like 4 or 5 of them.

    POD 500x

But the default setting, when you hook up a Pod and PC is the opposite direction. The computer speakers will be useless, the computer audio will be coming out of the Pod (if you have speakers hooked up to it). So, you will need to change the default setting to reverse the way the signal travels.
  12. In fairness, he is talking about the 500X. It doesn't ship with 1.0 like the 500 did.
  13. The key word is "need". Do you need to update? NO. Never. I've met guys that had the unit for 3-5 years and didn't even know the thing could be hooked up until I told them. That means no updates. No EDIT. No patch backup. And they're doing just fine. Here's the deal - If you choose to update, you need Monkey. Usually, once you have it, how it works is self explanatory. But you seem to be having issues. Next question?
  14. Built in backing tracks? Sorry, bro, this is a musical instrument/device. It is not a toy. BUT, it does have a mic input. It does have a looper. It also has a two 1/4" inputs and a 1/8" input. Please understand, the mic input is also not a toy. It is XLR jack. Next question?
  15. They are all FX blocks. So, should we assume you mean FX Loop? Did you check the basic stuff like ground loops and cord interference.
  16. AMEN to that. Yes. That really needs to be the first step. This can be a plug-and-play device, depending on what you want it for. But most people NEED the manual. There's a lot of stuff you need to know. I sort of forgot about that in my previous post. Oh, and, there are 4 or 5 different manuals manuals you need.
  17. BUT... Before you download EDIT and patches from CT, you should download Monkey to make sure you have the latest software version. Monkey will also keep EDIT up to date.
  18. The first thing that needs to be determined is --- what is "better"? Is the Helix better, of course. But, depending on what you are using as your qualifier, it may not be. For example - Let's forget the Helix for a moment, so that we can compare apples to apples. If they made an HD500X CTS (color touch screen). Is that better than the HD500X? If they made an HD500X I/O (input and output) with 24 inputs and outputs, is that better than the HD500X? Or if they made an HD500X 2P (two pedal), is that better than the HD500X? YES. Sure, those "bonus" versions are better than the original, simply because they are the same - with more. But what if you are a musician that needs sound quality without the extra bells and whistles. Is the CTS going to sound better than the standard version? Is the I/O going to sound better? Is having two pedals going to make you sound better? NO. The 500, 500X, HD Pro and the HD Pro X (plus the made up extra versions I listed up above) are all going to sound the same. They are all the same. There are only slight differences between them based on if you want the floor unit or the rack unit. So, coming back to your question - is the Helix better then the 500X. Like my previous post said --- you don't need a Ferrari if all you are doing is picking up your mail at the end of the driveway. A hoveround will do just fine.
  19. Just to toss this out there... The HD500 is not a synthesizer. You are not calling up wave files. You will never get a good 'Hallelujah" sound with a guitar. ***but, admittedly, I am spoiled with the sounds available on the keys
  20. It's a great unit. OTHERWISE I WOULDN'T HAVE ONE. But, IMO, depending on what one wants a machine to do, it may not be the best choice for them. For example... There's a lot of that sort of stuff on the Meg Myers album Sorry. If I was playing guitar (because, again, keyboards have a slew of options on their own) with her full time, and I needed one unit that did that kind of stuff, I would not have bought the pod. I would have gone with something else, or a combination of units. But since that show is all sync'd through a separate computer, the pod would be fine (even though it isn't needed at all). Even the videos that were previously posted, if that was my primary need for a unit, I would not have gone with the pod. Obviously, they work for it. It is just about what is most suitable.
  21. I didn't say it the first time. But since you repeated yourself, I will say it this time... "POD HD500X INT P25-1" does not mean it came with 1.0
  22. But (IMO) the Helix simply had too many inputs and outputs for the common user. And touch screen is only useful for practicing at home. Once you get into a band situation (live/rehearsals/studio), most of what you pay for is stuff that doesn't get used. It is much like buying a Ferrari so that you can drive back and forth to your mailbox every day. It just isn't the smart buy for most.
  23. Like you said, apply one (or more) or the many eq's (or other effects) to the exp pedal. The Pod's exp pedal can control many options at one time, even in opposite direction. And values don't need to run 0-100, you can apply random values like 24 to 61, or 98 to 87. So, unlike, let's say, a wah pedal, you have a much greater flexibility. I am hesitant to tell you exactly what to do because we don't know what your input source is, nor what you exactly want out of it. Meaning, a keyboard has many more tonal options than a guitar does before we even to changing them with outboard effects. And if we told you to add a tremolo to get that pop-pop-pop sound, you may not want that part. So, really, its all up to you. But, like I said, it is quite possible that the 500 is not the unit for you.
  24. As to the original video - 4:45 can be done. But it is going to depend on what else you have going on. Meaning - each patch of the Pod is limited to 8 effects at one time. So, if you are adding other effects on top of it (distortion, delays, etc), you could be running into problems. Honestly, the 500 may not be the unit for you if that is what you need for and it is the only device you are using. That sort of effect is something that I would be running through an outboard computer that is sync'd up to the entire stage show.
