LOL The Variax setlist are some of the more-usable tones on the unit, even without a Variax. If you need space for your own tones, get rid of one of the other ones. Me, personally, I have gotten rid of all 6 factory setlists.
-
Probably, the reason you asked about converting is because you are using the File/Open menu option. In that case, EDIT will not find the the other unit's files. BUT, if you simply click-and-drag the files into EDIT, they will open just fine.
-
You don't even need to convert the files. If something uses too much DSP, you can open the file in offline mode to remove one of the blocks. For me, it is usually a volume pedal. But it could be any number of things depending on your own personal likes.

Left and right. You can separate the left and the right, but not (as example) left xlr from left 1/4". Also, note, this is not a setting of "left has cab, right does not." It is all based on how you design your signal chain.

Wouldn't it make more sense to go to the Presonus website?

bands that have people on stage with them usually use the rack version instead of the floor version. having a backup unit is always desirable too. But, no, I do not have any knowledge of a mass produced weather protector.

1. Helix board =>> dataway==>> 2. Amplification varies in price based on need. Do you need the $3k system? If yes, that is how much it will cost. If not, then it won't.

and make sure you are not using a hub

Yes, this can be confusing. Please use words like virtual and physical. It makes things easier to understand. Also, because of the subject matter, if you could talk a little bit more indepth about what you want and are trying to do. Stereo and dual and amps and etc... they mean so much different things depending on what we are talking about.
-
Would there be a reason why you wouldn't want to bring the unit home all the time? It's not like you are actually loading and unloading all 60 amps like you did in the 80's. It is a tiny little unit that fits under your coat.
-
Multiple locations - that would be a reason to buy another 500 or an X. One of the benefits to using something like the Pod is the fact that you don't need to travel with a milk truck full of gear to get your sound. In fact, you don't need to travel with any gear. Make the sounds at home on one unit, and then put the patches on the unit at the other location.

Well, that is a debate that will wage on as well. Does the Helix sound 3x better to justify the 3x price? NO. But with more available blocks, you can make the sounds better. There are other reasons to buy a Helix besides the sound, like the need for more blocks or more inputs and outputs. Those of use who only use one input jack are fine with 2010 technology. Like BillBee, I am confused by this question.

You disconnected the amp and pedals, but did you disconnect the guitar as well? Place a noise gate in your signal chain and max the gate so that nothing passes through. Try it once at the start off the chain. Try it again at the end of the chain. Does it help? Next step -- plug it in to a different outlet.
-
It's really not difficult to understand... Two inputs can use one output. One input can use two outputs. And between the input and the output, you can run one signal chain, two signal chains, or a mix of the two.

32 blocks seems like a lot of work. I wouldn't be a musician if I wanted to work.
-
They were, when we actually went there. But we didn't see that footage. Our 'computers' didn't have the right plugin to be able to see that file format.
-
Well, seriously, if these guys were the first on the moon, how did the camera crew get there to film it?
-
Like the gay teen that was about to cry said in the video, there are reasons other than tone that would make the Helix costs 3x. 32 blocks is one of them. The HD units, if you took them and redesigned the programming to allow 32 blocks, it would still sound the same, it would just have more blocks available and would cost more. If you took the HD units and added a color screen, it would still sound the same but would now have a color screen and would cost more. If you... if you... if you... Same result, sounding the same but costs more.
-
But, please note, the extra DSP does not mean you can run more effect blocks. You have a limit of 8 blocks regardless of what unit you have. The 4 units (2 floor, 2 racks) are exactly the same -- they run the same software. I don't find any of them to be an upgrade from the other. Yes, they each have some minute differences, but they are ultimately going to be the same. If you want a backup unit, get one. If you are having problems with yours and need a new unit, get one. But don't get one expecting an upgrade.

I don't think you are being specific enough for us to answer this. But, the first thing I would do is flash the firmware.
-
But if you know that you are going to be switching amps, I would just diddle around with the Pod between now and then. I would not get involved trying to create patches - other than learning the process. The change of amp will drastically change your tone.

Too many of these videos are made by gay teens. I am always waiting for them to cry.

NO. You cannot buy the model packs from anywhere other than L6. However, someone who bought their model pack from L6 can transfer their license to someone else. So, yes, in a way, it is possible to get a model pack from someone other than L6. But, L6 would need to be involved because you cannot do a direct transfer. The transfer needs to happen at the L6 level. There is no direct person-to-person transfer, therefore it is completely safe. You don't have to worry about getting a virus or a bogus copy. But the sale part could still be a danger because L6 doesn't get involved with the money part, just the L6 licensing. *Also, please note, there are different model packs for different units. If the guy sells you a model pack that is not designed for your unit, you would not be able to use it. And I doubt the seller would return your money, lol. Can they return their model pack after they transfer it? NO. Once they transfer it, it no longer belongs to them - it belongs to you. Nor can you return it.

As we use our modelers...

But it wasn't cheap guitars the way the "angry video man" said. It was multiple nice guitars. At least two Gibson guitars (and 3 if you count one that wasn't mine but I used often). At least one Carvin. Numerous BC Rich (although, they are hardly considered high end guitars). My Jackson guitars were always active. They never did it. I have since picked up a few used ones that are passive. I wonder if they would do it if I tried. I would make it part of the show. Think about songs like Radioactive by The Firm. Songs that needed a modified voice like that one, they could be done through the guitar. But I never had a remote control tv in my studio. So i haven't a clue what you are talking about with that one.
