Any hints on how to find the Sugar or Wild Hare stuff?
-
Sugar.... Odd they chose the name of a pretty famous other band (Bob Mould from Husker Du)..... But I'll definitely check you out, love your posts.

Assistance requested. Let's Keep it simple....effects only.
FlyingsCool replied to NevenT's topic in POD HD
Interesting. Do you know of any places that discuss this, putting what effects before and after the preamp? What about compression? Tremelo? Flange? Phaser? Etc? -
Am I missing something??? I had to choose, Support, then Technical Support to access the Line 6 forums..... Why is it so deep and hard to find? The forums should be accessible from the main page like they used to be. Who designed this? Is the design in flux? Not liking this AT ALL!!! Tom

I just use it on my regular pedal board, and I haven't used it as a pedal connected to my FBV MkII for my POD HD Desktop, but I've been very happy with the BOSS FV-500 I have. As you noted, it's got an adjustable volume range on it. Here's the manual... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/media/fv500h_manual.pdf

I assume you saw this...

Unless you are a 500x owner...... :-/ I'm just happy they are still creating drivers and upgrading the systems, including the Desktop and 500. If that's not a plus, I don't know what is....

There's lots of research available out there, check out gearslutz.com and thegearpage.net The JBL LSR305's and LSR308's are about in your price range, I ended up going with the 305's, and will get a subwoofer at a later date. Gonna be hard to find a pair of anything decent for $175. On sale, the 305's go for about $225 for the pair. I haven't heard good things about the Krocks...

Oh my.... O_O Umm, how do I get together with you to learn a little bit about what you know so I can understand tones better?

I'm interested in splitting my guitar signal, with half going to my amp, and the other half going to the POD. I did a search, but I couldn't easily find the info I'm looking for.... My idea is to use a passive di box to develop a stereo, or even menage-a-trois amp setup for recording in my DAW...: plug my guitar into my effects pedalboard, put the DI box at the end of the pedal chain, take the thru signal and pass that to my amp, and take the (Radial Prod DI for instance) 150 Ohm XLR out of the DI and pass that to the POD HD Desktop. Then connect the POD sp/dif connector to my Scarlett 6i6, and mic my amp as I normally do. This would give me choices up to 3 amps I could record tracks from in my DAW. I'm assuming I should plug into the XLR input of the POD from the XLR out of the DI box, and choose mic as input source on the POD?
-
Ok, I think I understand what you are saying. It seems, though, that the signal coming out of the XLR and 1/4 cables is the same, though, no? (which isn't necessarily bad) And you are splitting the signal out at the FX loop level for signal A, and the 1/4 in jack and XLR jacks both have signal B? That works. I didn't realize that each path A and path B were stereo separately. and stayed separate. Although, really they aren't, are they, you are just muting signal A at the mixer. Unfortunately, I have a desktop, so I don't have these options. :(

Decent point, and definitely something to check, but this is not universally true. My POD HD Desktop works fine on my HP 8560w Elitebook Laptop USB 3.0 ports. It uses Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Controller and Root Hub. Nope, me, too....

Did you read the OP's question? Maybe I'm wrong, but from the information you seem to be giving, it sounds like you are answering a totally different question: How can I output a stereo signal from the POD to two different devices, NOT the OP question.... Can I input two signals into the POD, and get two distinct stereo signals in return? I'm with Charlie, nope, not possible. Two input signals as separate left and right mono output signals are possible, under very special circumstances if you are careful, but two separate stereo signals? Nope. http://line6.com/support/topic/2033-pod-hd-500-500x-new-routing-schematics/

Sorry, we don't know what you like best. You'll just have to try them both. Some people like one, others like the other. But he doesn't have a HD500, he's got a Desktop Bean it sounds like, which is much more limited on I/O. I've tried to set up a two track recording through the Bean, thinking I'd like to record my voice clean through the mic, and set up an amp and guitar effects chain on the other stereo channel. But it seems like it is very difficult to not have the two channels combine at any point. Plus, it seems he's already got the 2i2, might as well use it and keep the signal path simple for both the POD and overall.... I've found trying to screw with tracking two signals into the POD and then into my DAW as two very separate signals is a nightmare keeping it straight and being able to set up effects chains I want in the POD.

Delay Before Reverb? (general 'pedal' Sequence Thoughts)
FlyingsCool replied to ColonelForbin's topic in POD HD
It's one thing to place pedals in "accepted best positions", i.e. comp, wah, distortion, modulation, delay, reverb.... But sometimes you just gotta go with what sounds good for you! Quit thinkin', try it, see if you like it..... -
Why connect the POD to the Focusrite? the POD HD is an interface on its own. Adding the 2i2 is only adding an unnecessary layer between the POD and the PC. If you want to mic your amp, that's fine, too, if you are liking the sound you are getting driving your amp or PA from the POD. Then you'd be connecting your POD to your amp/PA, and the Shure to the 2i2.

The first thing I would do is remove ASIO4All. When I had it installed on my Windows 7 machine, it screwed up my access to the Line 6 ASIO driver, and another ASIO driver (I just wanted to test it to see what it was all about). After doing some research, as far as I understand, AISO4All does not support even Vista, much less Windows 7 or Windows 8. It was written for XP. So I uninstalled it, and everything started working again. After uninstalling ASIO4All, connect your POD to your PC USB port. Turn on your POD, Start POD HD Edit. Make sure POD HD Edit can connect to your POD. Start FL. Look for the ASIO POD HD driver under available interfaces. If you don't see it, there is something wrong with your installation. It should just be there. I'd uninstall all your POD software and start over with the installation process.

As I think was noted earlier, if I'm using a wah, I turn it on and off with FS8, since it is closest to the pedal. If an effect will be always on, I don't bother to set a switch, and then, like was previously mentioned, I set FS5-8 as is most logical for playing, typically, FS5 will be the effect I am most likely to turn on and off. Like boost.

lol, I was wondering this the other day. Love the tones from Phish - Free Nassau Coliseum from 11/28/2003 I've looked for other good recordings of this song, but none have matched this so far as I can tell. http://grooveshark.com/#!/search?q=phish+free+11%2F28%2F2003

Looks like you responded in the wrong thread?

Can You Assign The Pedal To Have An "auto-on" Wah?
FlyingsCool replied to michaelbattista's topic in POD HD
I usually assign switch 4 to the Wah effect, but, yeah, that means I have to hit 4 then can move my foot to the pedal. -
Having read your very lucid thread NX, despite the obviousness of where the problem lies, people seem to still be focusing on the expression pedal. Too bad you started the thread thinking the problem was with the Expression pedal (which is exactly what I would have done, too). You've clearly stated many times that the problem is with the shortboard. Perhaps you might want to consider starting a new thread where you state "Line 6 short board is unable to detect an attached expression pedal on startup". Doesn't matter if it is a Line 6 pedal or not. Just say you are using a Line 6 pedal. I wonder, however, perhaps the circuitry is such that it is unable to process the detection code? Or do you think it is as simple as them rewriting the firmware to add a detection check at the end of boot? If the pedal is already plugged in, maybe they can't run the detection? I don't know, I'm a mech eng guy. Anyway, hope everyone can see that this problem is independent of the expression pedal that is attached. It's a basic bug/feature of the shortboard itself. It also seems as though there is another bug as the board is not working as designed, i.e. it's not illuminating both lights even when it knows the pedal is there (I think I got that right). Seems like they should process an update anyway.

Yes, I think it would be useful. Currently, my POD is my only interface to my DAW (I'm saving up for an Audio 6 or something similar), and I'd like to practice recording singing and playing at the same time, or possibly also playing my acoustic direct and mic'ed through the POD. Thank you. Plus, I can imagine using my POD live someday. I've got a JBL EON15 G2 I use, and it would be nice to not have to bring an amp along for some gigs. Though, in that situation, I've currently got a small Xenyx mixer I use now and TC Electronic M300 in its effects loop. But, heck, if I can do it all easily through the POD, including putting some reverb and delay on my voice, that's a couple more pieces of equipment I don't have to bring. I'm using a bean now with an FBVII Shortboard (I wasn't sure I would like the POD, and the Sweetwater deal was so awesome I couldn't pass it up.), but I could imagine upgrading to a 500X someday. I picked up the FBVII shortboard used for $85, so I hopefully won't lose my shirt selling the bean and shortboard if I decide to upgrade later....

Connecting Hd500x To Dt25 And Mac/powered Monitors At Same Time?
FlyingsCool replied to GazzaBloom's topic in POD HD
Don't you love it when software guys get the interface concepts right! :) -
1. I think that is what the person meant, put your effect before the POD, as you noted. 2. I would imagine a compressor/sustain pedal would do the trick. I would try putting the compressor before or after the pedal and see which works best for you. Unfortunately, it will likely increase the noise even more. Try using maximum attack on the compressor and minimum compression, and use the minimum amount of sustain to get what you need to reduce the noise as much as possible.
