Better than waiting for "someone" to read this post... check out Line 6's Ideascale.. in fact, I was just searching for the link to the main ideascale page, and this link came up. Sounds like what you are asking for? I voted it up. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Helix-Global-Preset/727233-23508 Create your own if you want something different, or at least add to the comments. This is one of the main ways Line 6 uses for prioritizing updates.

Created Ultimate Fender John Mayer Clean (Files including custom IRs)
FlyingsCool replied to JazzInc's topic in Helix
See post #33 of this thread. Not the original patches, which would be nice to have, but they are the patches he is using now so I'm imagining improved.(?) -
Yeah, he's got a couple of threads here on this subject and has I believe moved on from those presets. Search for the OP and you'll find links to his latest presets and IR's. Unfortunately, it's not really clear which of his presets are the ones he uses to get the tones he discusses here (if he even uses those tones anymore). I agree, though, I would like to try out the originals.

My volume pedal has no variance, all on or all off
FlyingsCool replied to BuckeyeTodd's topic in Helix
Also, try changing the location of the pedal in your change. If you put it before your amp, it's acting like your guitar's volume knob, and, for a lot of amps, pretty much just controls the tone, not the volume. If you place the pedal after your amp, it'll act more like a volume pedal. As the previous poster said, logarithmic is closer to the way the ear perceives loudness. I like to place mine after the amp and before the delay and reverb(s) for swells and such. -
Umm, are you using an alternate tuning? Sorry, had to ask given it's a variax. Tuner works great for me for both my Tokai LP and my JTV-69S (connected either through VDI or 1/4 cable whether I'm using the pickups or any of the models and alternate tuning settings (pretty much only use Drop D and down a half step)... I've never had an issue with it misreading. Have you compared it using another tuner?

JTV 69 Tuning Stability
FlyingsCool replied to mgamache's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Old strings like that will never stay in tune. Did you stretch the strings after you put them on? Again, as the other poster said, unless you aggressively stretch new strings you could lose a half step just playing a chord.... -
Any luthier worth his salt should be able to help you measure the frets on the neck and calculate the correct bridge placement. It's all just math. (Not being a luthier, I don't know the math myself, but I'm sure it's easily searchable)

'Compare' function between stored tone & modified tone?
FlyingsCool replied to farrellk's topic in Helix
It's a scratch preset, and you have the original in another slot... So...nothing is lost. Might as well save it as not. In fact, without a compare feature, you have to save it to compare it. I did vote up the compare function, btw.- 14 replies

Be careful when saying that the StageSource speakers are heavy in the bass. All speakers are heavy in the bass when they are sitting on the floor due to coupling with reflections off the floor. To alleviate this, try setting the speaker on a tripod, or find someway to get it off the floor. I have found that using the Monitor mode of the StageSource speakers isn't enough to get rid of this for my taste. I've found even just putting the speaker on a rug and standing it on end helps. I too use PA Reference mode btw.

How are you connecting to the L2M? If you are using L6 Link, I believe the Global EQ won't have any affect. It's not explicitly stated in the manual, but it only affects the XLR and 1/4 outputs as those are the only choices you have when choosing what Global EQ affects, and it says something to the effect that "there is no need to set Global EQ for L6 Link Connections" (nice of them to make that decision for me). Since Global EQ is the same for all patches, and amps are so different, I don't like to use Global EQ for anything other than adjusting the output of the speakers for a given room. I'm still getting to know the various amps and haven't settled on a tried and true global method for achieving the sounds I want. I pretty much handle it on an individual patch by patch basis. I use whatever tools I need to get the sound and response am I looking for. Sometimes that's high and low cuts on reverbs and delays, sometimes high and low cuts on cabs, sometimes it's eq. I also want to start playing with the input impedance.

Tis akin to a metaphor methinks Kind of like One man's piece of junk is another's priceless artifact, and vice versa as the case may be... Then, when you take into account the fact that everyone's signal chain outside of the Helix and input device is completely different, well, presets are just doomed to failure and they need to accept that fact and still be proud of themselves...

:) That's like asking what kind of car people like to drive. First of all, you need to decide how much you want to spend. You can find options from ~$100-$200 to $1000-$2000 / speaker. Second, how loud do you want to get. Popular options I've seen are on the lowish end of the price range are the QSC's, the Alto's, and Yamaha DXR/DBR's and a few like the JBL Eons and the like. Mid-range go from the Stagesource L2t/m's, and a Firehawk 1500 or DT-25/50, or any number of amps and cabs. Higher end, many people enjoy the Freidman and CLR cabs, and any number of amps and cabs.

 I really wanted the devil emo... I dunno, I don't go in to GC without already having done my homework. It's a store. To buy things in. Expecting all the help there to be pros with pro knowledge is like walking into Home Depot for advice. It's a store. They sell things. I figure out what I want, how much I want to pay, and I buy stuff. I've been very happy with the prices I've paid for stuff at GC. I like being able to walk into a store to see what's out there; all the stores around Boston, and even the ones I've visited around the country have had a decent selection of stuff when I'm looking for something, and I like the ability to walk in to see what's available if I want to try something. If I'm patient I've scored lots of stuff at great (relatively) prices, some at REALLY great prices. And if something's not working, they have a great return policy. What more do I need? I personally want to see them stay in business.

I haven't had a chance to test it out myself yet, but several people have also found that adjusting the Guitar Input Impedance has an appreciable effect.

How are you hooking it up? Which Jamhub? Sounds like a gain stage isssue? This is a typical problem... and I got this quote from a unit being sold on Reverb "You do need to carefully adjust the gain on the inputs and the levels to ensure minimal noise and a proper mix." If you are hooking up from the headphone jack of the Helix to the JamHub, do you know what the impedance of the JamHub inputs is? If I try to use my Shure SRH840 (44 Ohm) directly connected to the Helix headphone jack, it sounds AWFUL, like you are saying happens with the JamHub. Several sources have suggested you want to use at least 150 ohm impedance drivers. I haven't tested that theory out myself yet, nor have I tried recording from the headphone jack yet to see if it's a problem with my Helix Headphone jack. I can listen fine through my Focusrite 6i6 with the headphones, so I just haven't taken the time yet. He also noted that 1/4 ins are expecting a TRS signal in the ad. Anyway, he had a lot to say about the JamHub, so here's the link https://reverb.com/item/4444061-jamhub-bedroom-silent-studio-for-up-to-5-musicians-great-solution-for-practice-mixing-monitoring?gclid=Cj0KEQiAl4TGBRDhgvmikdHPsdABEiQAtBcc8LGeLcaU-dT9khx1MMZaHOSIx7fv0ertPKOthzZK1ZsaArLV8P8HAQ&pla=1

If you're in the US and you're ok with buying used, I highly recommend keeping your eye on Guitar Center's used gear page. I picked up 2 brand new looking Stagesources, an L2t and an L2m for $500 and $400 respectively. GC checks the gear, and you have 60 or 90 days I think to decide if you want to keep it. And you can purchase pro coverage if you want a warranty. Yeah, you gotta pay shipping, and warranty, but, at those prices, I think it's worth it. The L2t even came with the rolling bag, which is an $85 dollar value right there, and I wasn't even expecting it. I know GC gets a bad rap from a lot of people, but I've been very happy with their service.

I just posted these in another thread, but highly recommend you peruse them... This is a great thread for getting to know the amps and effects - http://line6.com/sup...ls-vs-invented/ And another good Helix Reference site - http://helixhelp.com/pmwiki.php And of course the Helix manual to get familiar with what box each tool maps to for those that aren't covered above.

Yeah, but that takes like 15 minutes.... What's he gonna do the rest of the time he's waiting?

Windows 7 is just fine. It's all I use. A bundle is all the setlists. A setlist is, well, a setlist, such as Factory Setlst 1 I wouldn't bother backing up the bundle, as the Factory Setlists change with each release. I backup the setlists individually, and, as HonestOpinion suggested, individual presets I care about. That way I have control over what I restore. The nice thing about backing up presets is they are in text format, and you can read them. So you could do some debugging by saving the preset you are having a problem with at different times, and see what the differences are. Make sure you are saving your presets. If you make a change to a preset, switch to another without saving first, the setlist you just left will revert back to its last saved state.

You could download the manual... http://line6.com/support/manuals/helix/ And then peruse all the threads on this forum, join the Facebook groups and read this whole thread.... https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/line6-helix.1586637/page-1... All 34,000+ posts (I think there may be a "few" other Helix threads on that site as well...) I think his point was not "Gee, maybe the problem is units from this store" so much as saying, "Hey, if you bought it from Sweetwater, you've got a two year warranty on it". I'm sure not everyone who purchases from Sweetwater necessarily pays attention to the extended warranty. I think he missed your comment that you've got a 3 year warranty on it.

Rather than an outright replacement, maybe ask your local Line 6 repair shop for a rental unit till it's fixed? Kind of like car dealerships do when you bring in a car for a repair. Sounds like this is your livelihood, and you are depending on this unit and can't really be without it.

I'm betting they have a run of some bad parts from their supplier. As we all know, L6 wasn't expecting to be selling as many as they are. When you push your suppliers for more parts faster, well... stuff happens, typically bad. Hopefully, they've got that supplier under control now, or found another....

Did you try between the amp and cab? Don't know if that helps in the tone change department.
