Hello arislaf, the guitar looks amazing. One question. How do you know which model you are using with the strat style tone knob installed? Also, does anything light up when modelling is engaged?

I just checked the battery on my Jtv 69 and it does not behave in this way. Mine is currently showing 3 lit green lights. I tried it three times and always the same result. Hi gunpoint metal, I believe you hit the nail on the head. It seems the hd 500 x is a tweaker's dream, or nightmare, depending wether you enjoy infinite tweaking or not. I too believe you can make this unit sound good with almost anything but it will require patience, research, study, and time. If people are expecting great sounds on any gear out of the box they will be disappointed . I know this is totally obvious, but people need to read the manual, and if they don't understand it they need to read it again, and again. I must have read that damn manual ten times or more. lol. But now I get it, sortta , kinda!

Very interesting indianrock, I think it is better to rely on our ears as opposed to numbers whether they be percentages or actual freq. numbers. In almost every case if you use the exact same settings somebody gives you, your rig will sound different for any number of reasons anyway. As an an analogy if you try to mix a few tracks based on where your eyes or your pre conceived notions of where the faders should be, You will find this to be far different from closing your eyes, listening and setting the fader levels by ear. A wise producer once stated.... "Changing anything changes everything."

I have been telling young, or new players this for years JTSC777. I absolutely agree with you. Still it is amazing how many people think I am nuts when I say really good tone comes from the hands as much as the instrument. I think this is something only experience can prove to a skeptic. Personality is part of the equation I think. Some players are always trying to improve, others reach a certain level and never surpass it. I think we can safely say the best players are truly driven and are always looking for ways to improve their tone and chops. It is easy to get lost in all the technology, to the point where our playing suffers. As they say, practice makes perfect..... Or as my wife always says " how many times do you have to play that damn song?" LOL.

Just my 2 cents. I do this as well. I also use the looper to record a vocal and sing harmony to it afterwards. Great fun, and good practice for vocals.

Thanks for the reply Palico. I have the Jtv 69 which is similar to my strat so I opted for it instead of the 59. I also use the 500x. I am a long time player but new to line 6 gear. For what it is worth all my other gear that is computer, software, midi based Has lasted surprisingly well. I have some Roland gear form the late eighties that still works fine... So I am optimistic that the line 6 could be long lived as well. I suspect the latest greatest will entice me before the present gear craps out.

Hello folks. Someone on the forum was debating with himself the pros and cons of the Jtv series guitars. He is close to buying but not sure. So I started wondering myself... 1.How long can we Jtv er's reasonably expect our set ups to be functional? 2. Will we be enticed by something new before the current equipment bytes the dust? ( pun intended )

If humans were not constantly changing things we'd still be eating nuts and berries and living in caves. lol! You will adapt.

I couldn't have said it better cruisin on, which is why I don't even bother with tone matching for me it just seems like a gimmick and waste of time. I much prefer to create my own tones any way. I believe there are countless hours spent by guitarists trying to "nail" someone else's tone when the time would be far better spent working on their own tone, style, and chops. This is my own humble opinion of course.

You can not get a real nice acoustic guitar tone from a conventional amp and speaker because it does not cover enough of the needed frequency range. What exactly are you doing to try and achieve the acoustic sound? I assumed ( and maybe incorrectly ) that you meant acoustic guitar. I run my Jtv modelling guitar thru the amplifi 75 with no amp loaded into it. This essentially makes it an FRFR type powered monitor. Then I can use my Hd 500x with amps and cabinet models for electric tones, or turn off the amps on the HD as well and use the JTV guitar for some very convincing acoustic guitar sounds. " The FRFR acronym stands for " full range flat response ". This will give the best sound without colouring a natural acoustic sound. Many users will tell you the same thing, you won't get a true acoustic sound thru a conventional guitar amp.

My issue resolved itself when I re flashed version 2.1 on amplifi. Everything is working as per the manual information on my amp at present.
