Here is another forum about the same subject with a few links.

There is a couple other examples I found of people making there guitar into a bagpipe. Non seem to show how to do it though. There is always the midi route too but that is a whole other world. I love getting my traditional guitar tones but I also love getting any other sound of the instrument and figuring ways to write and perform with them.

Or a EHX Mel 9. I own the Synth 9 and it is pretty awesome. Will probable pick one of these up in the near future.

Some people swear that adding the digitech freq out to the helix is the one thing missing from the pedal. I just got one and trying to see the best way to set it up. But I know that people have been asking for something similar to the freq out to get modelled and added to the helix and Line 6 is pretty amazing so I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw one. You could mess with compressors and eq; which, should help give you feedback or trying using the doubler effect in conjunction. I had some success using that.

Now that we have a filter/vocoder type of effect I have been trying to recreate an effect that I have on my digitech pedals but I am having some difficulty. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get a similar sound from Helix? Would great to just use the one pedal. Thanks!

Yeah, I remember reading the same thing too. Would be most excellent. Makes me wonder what other surprises they might have up there sleeves. Pretty happy with the helix already but more models of cool gear is always welcomed.

Midi has been fixed. I never use it but I remember the last update addressed the issue. I have had mine for a year or more and I still love it. The only down fail is the weight of it in my eyes but honestly it is not that bad my line 6 Lowdown 175 is another 20 lbs on top of it and I gig with both. If you crank any speaker system to a really loud level you will hear hiss. Nature of electricity.

Totally agree, I haven’t yet successfully copied the presets that I made on my Lowdown to my helix and they are more core bass tones. I get pretty close but it is not quite there. Maybe one day they will port some of the old modelled gear to helix like they did with the firmware 2.5 stuff which was totally sweet.
-
Nice! I will definitely have to give them a shot. I miss some of the bass amps that line 6 modelled for the Lowdown series. I would love to see some of that make it to the helix. An Eden traveler, a 68 marshal super bass, and a sansamp psa 1 would be sweet!

3 Sigma Audio has bass amp Impulse responses, as well. I haven’t tried the bass series ones yet but the guitar impulse responses I bought are great. They have a Mark, an Orange, two Gallien Krueger’s, and some others.

I have a Studiolive 24 that doesn’t have instrument inputs in it so I need a DI box to change the impedance from a mic input into a instrument input. Passive DI for active guitar and Active DI for passive guitars. Another advantage is it allows me to record in multiple signals at the same time; for example: recording bass one direct in, one going to a bass amp where I record it through a mic and another DI from the amp. Than I blend the three tracks together to make it sound really full.

I use an active Radial DI (phantom power 48v) for my passive guitars; which seem to solve my one issue, and I have a passive Radial DI for my active instruments. I also experiment with using my Line 6 G70 as a DI but it seamed to run a lot hotter signal than I wanted. One weird thing is my PRS Custom 24 gets a more muddy tone when I run it into the active DI, kind of like it is overloading the signal. Not sure if maybe the pickups(which are passive) are just over wound and thus have a higher output or what. I tried another old DOD 275 9volt battery DI and that seem to fix that guitar. Hope this helped.

Scott from the Helix channel makes some great patches of presets as well. He has a bunch of free ones. http://www.thehelixchannel.com/

I solved my problem by just getting an active DI and now it sounds just like my Helix Hardware.

Such a huge fan of his. He always cracks me up that and he has many great ideas and expanding what I thought I could do with my variax. The second song reminded me of Faith No More.

Yeah, I have been scouring the internet trying to find something that fits my bill. I thought about upgrade my mixer with new StudioLive mk 3 or the Quantum interface by presonus but I got some other purchases first so I will probably keep my old mixer and find something that works for now. Thanks!
