  1. Just be aware that FRFR speakers with "tone shaping" are not FRFR. The instant you are adjusting the flat response of FRFR, it is only FRFRish. It's funny that companies are now marketing FRFR speakers that have EQing in them. The term FRFR is not really well defined, so many companies are jumping on that as a marketing tool with all the modeling users out there.
  2. Try free first. These are from Line 6. I use them a lot. http://line6.com/allure/
  3. Absolutely. I am a simple guy, so I think in simple terms. The Chevy Silverado LTZ has all the bells and whistles: air conditioned seats, leather, wood trim, passing sensors, backup sensors, etc... Chevey Silverado Work Truck, same engine/powertrain as the High country, just steel wheels, vinyl flooring, cloth seats, no sensors. Both the same under the hood, just different on the outside. Not the same as shopping for cars on the lot, sure. You don't have as many options. But you can compare truck LTZ/WT with Helix/Helix LT as a direct example.
  4. I just bought a new pickup truck. I am not upset that there is a stripped down version for a portion of the cost, because I didn't want the stripped down version. Same for Helix. I would pay the extra $500 for scribble strips and extra connections/controls. Some wouldn't pay the extra $. That's why there are options, the same as car shopping.
  5. You can control multiple parameters with the expression pedal. Pedal back you could have amp gain at 5, master at 8. Pedal forward you can have amp gain at 8, and master at 7. Just an example. Scott at the Helix channel does that on almost all of his presets with the expression pedal. Sometimes I have an external expression dedicated just for that.
  6. My opinion is that the internals generate heat (processors) and the housing and other mechanical stuff expands a bit, causing some audible clicks with that expansion. I have noticed it after about 5 minutes of turning on the unit. There aren't any mechanical relays internally that I am aware of that would cause any audible clicking. JMO
  7. That's just one serial path, not a wet/dry setup. I guess I am not understanding.
  8. Andertons shows them on their website.
  9. I loosened the tension adjustment on mine and it stopped.
  10. Agreed, I get latency when I get out to about 50', cuts out completely at about 120' line of sight. I am not a touring guy, so no problems. Works very well for my needs.
  11. So the problem is in stomp mode and not snapshots?
  12. Nice cuts, and especially nice dovetail joints.
  13. Actually, the Line 6 G10 works quite well. I use is all the time with the Helix. If I was a touring musician I would opt for something more robust. Other than that, it is a fantastic little unit. I added dedicated space in my case for it.
  14. If you are not using 4CM, you can go into 4 different amps or FRFRish speakers, or a combination. You have 4 separate outputs to play with.
  15. A delay in the actual effect sound, or just the indication of the effect on the screen?
  16. Hard to say without seeing at least a picture of your preset screen.
  17. The EXP1 volume drop issue was supposed to be taken care of with 2.20. Maybe the volume blocks in the presets were created with a previous firmware revision, so the "bug" is still in the code for those presets. Maybe that's why they are saying to delete the volume block, and insert a new one, then save the preset.
  18. You cannot implement a wireless receiver into the Helix with a software update. It needs the receiver hardware in there to do that.
  19. That is awesome. The Hunter ceiling fan/leslie simulator. Now you just need to interface an expression pedal to it to control speed.
  20. I may try this as a backup for the floor unit. If I can get it to work from a Presonus (or any brand X) interface, laptop in tablet mode, 2-3 basic presets, with interface output direct into FOH, then I have a $99 backup that could get me through a Sunday at church. FAR from ideal, but sounds like an option.
