  1. I guess that's why they cost so much. An FRFR with FRFR bypass could be potentially twice the price.
  2. Just some comparison info for those in the market... Also TS210 freq response https://www.altoproaudio.com/downloads/Alto-Professional-TS210-Spec-Sheet.pdf JBL EON 610 https://www.jblpro.com/ProductAttachments/EON610_SpecSheet_4%2028%2015.pdf Yamaha DXR http://download.yamaha.com/api/asset/file/?language=en&site=countrysite-master.prod.wsys.yamaha.com&asset_id=57148 I can't find any published curves on the QSC K10 Line 6 L2T http://line6.com/data/6/0a06434d16dcc51080ca2e605f/application/pdf/Line6%20L2t%20Specifications%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf Atomic Amps FRFR http://atomicamps.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Atomic-CLR-Manual.pdf I can't find many curves from many "true FRFR" cabinets.
  3. All PA speakers are "FRFR" except that the frequency response curve won't be the same between speakers. It just so happens that the Altos sound better to your ears than the QSCs right out of the box with your presets.

^This^ Also something to keep in mind. If you play out with your Helix, try getting used to doing these types of things from the Helix and not the editor. You may find yourself in a pinch at a gig and you won't remember or not know how to do a simple task with just the hardware. Most of these functions are very fast doing them right from Helix.
  5. DI posted the info below. You should be able to use those steps to create your wet panned left and right, and your dry in the center using those concepts below. POSTED BY DI: There are lots of ways to do it, but the easiest method is probably this: Build your "left" sound on Path 1. Set its Output > Multi block's Pan parameter to Left 100. Build your "right" sound on Path 2. Set its Output > Multi block's Pan parameter to Right 100. If you want to build everything on the same path, you can: Select one of your two Amp blocks, press ACTION, and use the joystick to move it down. This creates Split and Merge blocks. If necessary, move your Amp, Split, and Merge blocks accordingly. The Split should be to the left of the first Amp and the Merge should be to the right of both Amps. Select the Merge block and set its A Pan parameter to Left 100 and its B Pan parameter to Right 100. Note that all paths are fully stereo, so if you have, say, a Ping Pong delay before the split and want it to bounce back and forth between Paths 1A and 1B, it won't sound stereo because both the left and right sides are being sent to both paths equally before being merged to mono at the Amp block. You can still accomplish this, but you have to select the Split > Y block and set Balance A to Left 100 and Balance B to Right 100.

    2.20 Party

I wanted to start a new thread today that didn't involve "FRFR". It was either going to be about the firmware release or start a thread about the Helix tuner.

    2.20 Party

Anyone having a v2.20 party on Friday (last day of the month)? If you are, don't spill your drinks on your Helix.
  8. It's just a canvas to which you paint your picture... "Most" PA speakers are pretty flat (none can be perfectly flat), and also full range (60-18000Hz)
  9. If you are just playing at home for more recording purposes, maybe a good set of open backed headphones would serve you well. I have found that the open backed versions are more representative to the bass response of PA speakers, yet crystal clear in the mids and highs. Then, you can crank it up and not worry about the neighbors. Closed type headphones really accentuate the bass frequencies, so you land up turning the bass down in your presets. If you then use that preset through PA or studio monitors, it will land up sounding thin. I started out building my presets with a good set of AudioTechnica in ear monitors, but when I played through our QSC PA system, my presets were a bit "boomy" in the low end. It's easy enough to adjust with the global EQ. I now build my presets on a couple of powered PA speakers, and my presets transition very well over to the QSC system with no eq required.
  10. ^this^ You've dropped $1500 on the Helix, spend another $250-350 on a single 10" powered PA speaker (Alto TS210 or JBL Eon 610) and it will be a world of difference. Also, don't judge the capabilities of the Helix based off of the factory presets. Just drop in an amp, cabinet, and a reverb in between without any tweaks and it will be lots better than most of the factory presets.

    Creaking pedal

You also don't want to risk overspray and lube your boards and processors.
  12. Did you get in touch with Line 6 Technical Support?
  13. What firmware revision are you on? Did you try to restore a backup on that preset?

    FRFR Users

I just got the same speakers last week. If I have the speakers on stands, I put them into "main" mode. That way they are set to a flat response eq preset. If I have them on the floor as wedges (as I do most of the time) I have them in "monitor" mode which is flat response preset, but with some bass rolled off due to the proximity of the speaker to the floor and bass coupling. Other than that, I do all eq'ing within my helix presets.

In the modulation effects, there are the 122 Rotary and 145 rotary models. They are not actually "modulation" effects, but models of the Leslie speakers. I think they didn't put them in the cabinet menu because their parameters are more in line with the rest of the modulation effects. Just be sure to bypass any cab or IR models and use the Leslie models in their place. I haven't tried running a keyboard through the helix routed to these models, but I imagine they would sound pretty good. Yes, you can change the speed with a foot switch or expression pedal, but it is either slow or fast and you can change the ramp time.
  16. I just got a couple of JBL EON 610s. You can use just one though. About 25 lbs and fairly compact (10" woofer version). Plays very well in the home at low volume levels and will crank pretty darn loud as well. Built in EQ so you can put it in "monitor mode" and have it on the floor as a wedge. I found them on Amazon for $324 each, free shipping, no tax. If you are using headphones with your DAW, no speaker with Helix will sound exactly the same as monitoring your DAW tracks with headphones. Just be aware of that.

    Volume drops out

The bug still exists in the most current firmware 2.12. To get around this, assign all of your volume blocks to EXP2, and not EXP1 then you will be fine. The default for volume is EXP1 and default for wah is EXP1

  19. Wasn't me. I just upvoted it back to zero.
  20. Kind of, but you can only turn on/off with the 4 stomps for the most part.
