  1. that is definitely metal to metal. I have not had my unit apart, but I imagine the pedal pivots on a shaft, and the pedal is held in position with a locking collar or two. I am sure someone here has had theirs apart and can tell you for sure. I imagine it would be a pretty easy adjustment, but you would have to remove the back panel.
  2. Nope Helix cannot do that, but I WANT THAT! It's like having a sustain pedal for keyboard/piano but for guitar. I would use that a LOT in the worship band setting.
  3. Ah HA, that is exactly what is happening. It is not a hallucination. Not a bug, but just a good FYI on how it works, and I'll definitely be aware of this in the future. Keep this in mind when someone posts about "preset not saving correctly". This may be what is happening.
  4. If you hear a trumpet, you will know. Maybe I can get a trumpet sound out of the helix, if there are any trumpet IRs out there.
  5. I've bought quite a bit of used gear from GC, always had good experiences and saved a lot of $.
  6. If you can adjust eq/level in your in ears system, just set up your preset to sound good FOH, then tweak the eq/levels in the in ear monitors at the venue. You don't want to adjust your preset to sound good in the in ears, then sound like crap FOH.
  7. Since being on 2.12, I have had zero freeze ups.
  8. Just thought I would share a quick silly mistake I was making. I was adjusting on my "favorite" preset in 1A. A short time into it I thought "I had better save this to another slot so I don't screw up this one in 1A". We'll about 20 minutes later, made my complete weekly backups, then powered down until later that day. I powered back on later, and noticed that none of my changes I made to my preset were saved. After about 30 minutes of wasting time troubleshooting non-existent issues, I remembered I saved the preset in another slot before making all the changes. The preset had exactly the same name, just in a different slot. So, it is really easy to do something silly, but think that the Helix malfunctioned. Just something to keep in mind kids....
  9. Went shopping for a Variax for my son in the Dallas TX area, and found ONE on the shelf. A standard that they have had for quite a while and had it marked down significantly, but still new. Yes, it is a niche market.
  10. move the cursor over to the volume block. Hold down the "Position" button below the screen. The menu will appear that will allow you to choose which expression pedal. If you choose EXP1, you may get the pedal position going to 1% randomly. EXP2 is default.
  11. What they said above ^. If you are running a volume block in your preset, set it to EXP2 and not EXP1. EXP2 is default for the volume pedal.
  12. Use it in one of the loops, it works much better that way.
  13. I guess I am not understanding the dissonance between an E played on the D string with the open E string.
  14. It matters if you got it from Sweetwater. They have a 2 year warranty on everything you buy from them. I'd bet they would replace the entire unit.

    Helix case/bag

Maybe if you contact Line 6 about it, they can take care of you for the free bag.
  16. Luckily, I have the two pivot bridge on my strat deluxe which has the push in tremolo arm. It stays in place and doesn't dangle and hit the transmitter. That is a nice cheap and easy fix on yours!
  17. Pretty popular on a lot of contemporary Christian/worship guitar rigs as well. Super useful for tasty ambient stuff.
  18. Download and install the appropriate (PC, IOS) Editor software, version 2.11. Also the Line 6 updater in case you need to flash the firmware to 2.12. Tips: 1. Do not expect to "replicate" an exact tone from your favorite recording. Too many factors go into it. Get something close and enjoy playing. 2. Start simple. Drop in an amp model, a cab model, and maybe a reverb/delay in between. It will sound great. 3. Pay close attention to the simple models that Sean Haley plays on the Line 6 Helix videos. Simple is good. Having key effects in parallel keeps things from getting muddy.
  19. It should be fine. The power switch on the helix just cuts of AC power, the same as if you were to do it with your device on the receptacle.
  20. Post a pic of your preset.
  21. You may have to use 1/4 to 1/8 and 1/8 to 1/4 or two right angle 1/4s. You are correct, 1/4 male-female adapter or extender is hard to find.
  22. Two 1024 point IRs are pretty close to one Helix cab in terms of DSP usage (non-scientifically measured). You will be hard pressed to hear much difference between 1024 and 2048 sample versions of IRs. For live stuff, you definitely won't hear the difference.
  23. I got some cheap LED bulbs that were on sale and they created quite a bit of noise. It all depends on their circuits driving the LEDs. I don't think any standards are put on manufacturing LEDs in terms of EMI and transient electrical noise. Beware of some of the bulk packs of 6 LED bulbs for $9.99. They could be more noisy than a neon sign.
