  1. It's a line of powered PA speakers.
  2. I always to a factory reset (after making backups) before doing a firmware update. I have had zero preset issues with restored backups when doing that.
  3. Your dry out recording to DAW will be two monos because a guitar signal is a mono signal. You won't get any kind of "stereo sound" until you put some stereo type effects on it to make it sound that way. Your non-dry signals coming from Helix to DAW will sound stereo unless you are collapsing them into mono before it goes out.
  4. Yeah, I did the firmware upgrade and forgot to adjust it back to -12dB before playing a track through Helix listening on in ear monitors. SO LOUD!
  5. Cutting power during an engineered data restructuring (rebuilding process) does not sound like a good idea if you are just trying to save a few minutes.
  6. Start a support ticket to make Line 6 aware of the situation.
  7. There are lots of people out there (including me) that use just the Helix and nothing else. It is a FANTASTIC piece of gear. Yes, there is a bit of a learning curve, but if you have been playing with guitar gear/amps for a while, it comes naturally.
  8. Rockwell Automation has been on the leading edge of this technology for years...
  9. Likewise if you want to run with your Egnator preamp, turn on the send/return block, and bypass the preamp model block.
  10. If you want to bypass your Egnator's preamp and run a Helix preamp model into your Egnator's power amp section, you need to: 1. bypass the send block going into the front end of your Egnator 2. bypass the return block coming from your effect send of the Egnator a. or bypass the single send/return block from steps 1/2 3. turn ON the Helix preamp block that is sitting in front of the send block going to your Egnator's effect return. If you are just turning on a preamp block without bypassing the send/return block to your Egnator preamp, the Egnator preamp is coloring your tone along with the preamp model you chose.
  11. Good deal. You'll find that upon doing a factory reset, it will rebuild all 1024 presets. After that, when you import presets using the editor software, it will rebuild those presets upon rebooting. I always reboot after importing presets so it goes through the rebuilding process. I am not sure if it is necessary, just something I always do. The term "rebuilding" sounds pretty important, and it only does that upon a reboot.
  12. It's not "reloading presets" it is "rebuilding" them. Any time you move preset data into blank presets, it "rebuilds" them on the next boot up.

  14. I don't think that would work either. Phantom power is 48 volts DC, not 5 VDC.
  15. I don't think you can change it on the Windows OS side, but you can in the Helix. Global Settings> Ins/Outs> USB In 1/2 trim. Default is 0dB I think. I set mine anywhere from -20 to -5dB depending on the original source through USB.
  16. Yes. I had to click on the "Read More" link under the Helix 2.20 update to get to the 2.21 stuff. http://line6.com/software/
  17. First try a different power supply. If you get the same result, it may be related to what Talonmm mentioned above. If it is a poorly designed switchmode power supply/converter, then you may be hearing the high frequency switching "scream".
  18. ...and get out the Mezcal to make it more enjoyable.
  19. Ah, got it now. I guess I need to learn some of the terminology concerning LT stuff.

    v2.21 help

You don't need to download the latest firmware, just download and run the latest updater and it takes care of the firmware download/installation process. Be sure you back everything up before updating.
  21. Not sure what you are referring to in "Performance Mode".
  22. I'll try it tonight. I don't have a guitar set up for metal, but it shouldn't matter.
  23. I am not picking up what you are laying down. Can you explain further?
  24. It still all (90%) comes down to good/bad is subjective. If someone happens to like the way their white ear buds sound, then it's good. Yes, the specs will get you pointed in the right direction sometimes, but you'll always find someone out there who just loves their Sony Walkman headphones from 1986.
  25. I am not sure if it will help you high gain situation, but I turn the high cut on the reverb to about 1kHz to get the harshness out, and rarely go above 40% mix. That is only on clean/crunch/overdriven tones for me though. The Helix reverbs are definitely not as "pristine" as TC Electronic reverbs right out of the box.
