  1. Ask and ye shall receive: https://www.3sigmaaudio.com/acoustic-impulses/ Haven’t tried them myself but lots of people have good things to say about them.
  2. When I’ve done the on fly a few times, I held down the model select button until it blinks. Then I choose my tuning bank (say custom 1). I then proceed to fret and play each string for my tuning (11th fret across all strings in your case). I then audition the tuning and if it’s good store it. Also in regards to the plink, also try restringing your Shuriken with 10-52s. The extra tension on the saddles has been reported to help with it.
  3. There is no half step step down tuning preprogrammed into the Shuriken. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f2b0158828f020762b/application/pdf/Variax Shuriken Pilot's Guide - English .pdf Page 13 of the pilot guide will give you a rundown of how to do it on the fly. Alternatively, you could also fire up Workbench and store it to one of the custom tuning banks if your still having issues.
  4. Be aware though, that if you do decide to download The Shuriken presets, Stevic has his guitar tuned to Dropped D and all his custom tuning adjustments reflect this. So you’ll either need to tweak them in Workbench or retune your Variax accordingly.
  5. So I recently just started getting into the different fuzzes in Helix and one thing I’ve been reading up on is the way the impedance of the fuzz can really affect the sound when disengaged. Of course the work around for this is to have your impedance change at the input when you disengage the fuzz. My question is what do people do when using their Variaxes with the VDI input?
  6. Yep it should bypass the preamp and just use the Spider’s power amp. Keep in mind though, that if this is how you are going to use your Helix, you generally don’t want to use any of the stock cabs or IRs. The Spider’s 212 will take care of that aspect for you.
  7. Unfortunately I think the best you could hope for might be at L&M. I know at this time of year they’ll sometimes throw in gift cards with a purchase.
  8. Honestly I’d probably fork out for a Toneport update with the Helix’s variable impedance plus a Variax input.
  9. I basically just perused some patches from Custom Tone and found a great bass patch called GK A OK. Fairly straight forward signal chain with a great sound. I’d suggest starting with that.
  10. Come on now, at least it’s a little more sporadic as opposed to a main stay on the first page.
  11. I believe the problem is plugging Helix into a hub as opposed to directly into your computer. They recommend you don’t use a hub when updating the Helix due to connectivity issues so I imagine it would be the same for recording. I would try it direct in and hopefully that will alleviate your problem.
  12. I’m using a stand like your second one and I also have the fretwrap on mine as well. I haven’t noticed any premature wear on the wrap, but to be honest, I haven’t really looked. I initially ordered a three pack so if I do happen to wear it out I’ve got backups and will readdress my stand issue then.
  13. Yep definitely. As an alternative though, the 27†iMacs will still let you do RAM swaps. May be worth pricing out also.
  14. Just as a heads up, the newer 21†iMacs have the RAM soldered to the board, so upgrading may not be an option.
  15. Once your enter the on the fly tuning mode, the 12th fret is considered your zero fret. So to tune down a half step you would play each string at the 11th fret.
  16. If you look in the Pilot Guide they go into more detail on how to do it and save it as a tuning preset.
  17. I believe this may be what your thinking of: https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLM70_3BvKVmcQh7WA4WYKFSWONpFMDUQC&v=cF72ShqPQ7s This way you can bypass Workbench.
  18. If you like, I could try and do a quick recording with my Shuriken on one of the acoustic models and using the baritone tuning.
  19. I'm not sure about rack and control but on my floor unit you had to turn on capacitance in the global menu.
  20. Reason doesn't support VST3 just VST2. What you'll have to do is reinstall Native and when it gets to the install location part (if memory serves me correctly) you'll see a customize button on the bottom left. Click that and it'll give you the option of which versions of the plugin to install and check the VST2 box. Click install and your good to go.
  21. Yeah I'd have to agree with Peter I recall reading in the manual that you can't use SPDIF and L6 Link/AES at the same time, it's one or the other.
  22. https://www.steinberg.net/en/company/technologies/vst3.html Sounds like primarily code optimization. It's good to see so many Reason users here as well, it seems like we are few and far between.
  23. When your installing Native when you get to the screen where it's asking you the install location (right after you accept the terms of use), in the bottom left is a button that says customize. When you click on that it'll let you pick which versions of the plugin you would like to install.
  24. I believe I saw a video that Scott did for the Helix Channel that was fairly passable.
  25. There definitely is an upsale factor with how Line 6 has scaled their discount on Native but let's be honest, they can quite easily track their sales demographic in regards to who owns what product and is taking adavantage of the discount. If they find they aren't moving near as many units to the LT crowd as the full Floor they may adjust the discount accordingly. Too a certain degree, the consumer will dictate the pricing (supply, demand, etc) and there always the chance of "flash sale" discounts (i.e. Black Friday) down the road.
