  1. Are you running Logic 9 in 32 or 64 bit? It won't run in 32 bit. And what OS are you using? You'll need at least 10.10 or higher.
  2. Here's a great video that I followed to setup snapshots with my TM36. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LIF1Z7ggGm4
  3. I would suggest that unless you plan on running a lot of effects post GR55, I would dedicate the entirety of path 1 and also 2A to regular guitar and path 2B to the GR55. I would think setting up path 2B with an FX return would be ideal that you could feed from the GR55 output and then you could even run it to separate outputs from your guitar on the Helix for mixer separation in the PA when performing live. Coupled with a Midi cable you should also be able to set your presets/snapshots to trigger your patch changes for you on the GR55 also so you'd only have to focus on one board.
  4. Yep, 4CM is easy peasy with Helix.
  5. This is what I would suggest for a 4CM template to start. I would build a patch with whatever Helix amp you would like you use and right next to it either before or after, I would insert one of the FX loops. Think of this FX loop as your "placeholder" for the Blackstar pre. The send from this FX loop is going to goto the amp's input and then you are going to run the amp's FX send into the Helix's FX loop return. Now setup the rest of your signal chain with whatever FX you want before and after the preamp (drives, mods, delays, etc.). Finally, insert a cab at the end of your path and right before it the send block from the unused FX loop. This you will plug into the amp's FX return input. Lastly, I would switch your output block to XLR and lock the volume to XLRs as well in the global settings. Now setup your foot switch assignments/snapshots to use whatever amp and FX you want and your good to go. With this setup you'll be able to easily switch between the Blackstar or your monitors as well as use the two in tandem.
  6. Fair enough and I should have clarified that I use the DT25 head, so maybe that's why I'm not hearing any difference?
  7. I would skip on the template initially. The problem with it is the DT hasn't been "prepared" to run with the Helix and you'll end up running the Helix modeling into the DT modeling. I would start by hooking the amp up to DT edit and turning everything off; basically turning it into a tube power amp with a few adjustable settings (topology, pentode/diode, class A/AB). Eliminate the cab sims as well, to my knowledge those were only applied to the DI out and had no effect whatsoever on what was being sent to the speaker. They were specifically for FOH. Now, these next steps are subjective and just what I do but, it's a decent starting point. I setup up my patch with the input set to guitar (or Variax if your using one) run through whatever amp model, FX, etc. I'm using and then set the output of the first path to digital. I will also use the instant commands to send Midi data to the DT to select the topology, class, pentode/diode setttigs that I want with the model I'm using. I then feed the DI out from the DT back into my Helix's mic input on path 2. This I will run through a HX cab or IR and then set the output path to XLR. Now I am able to still monitor my sound through the amp but also have a full signal being sent to FOH. I usually tweak my patches either with my studio monitors or through my Alto TS110A. Hope this helps to clarify things a bit for you and here's a link to one of the more complete threads on this topic. http://line6.com/support/topic/18843-helix-dt25-worthy-of-more-exploration/?fromsearch=1
  8. What about an FRFR setup? That way you've got something that's applicable for both your bass and guitar.
  9. Thanks for the video post HonestOpinion, I've actually been trying to figure how to use Snapshots with my TM36.
  10. I have mine mounted to a Pedaltrain Pro with a handful of pedals and a power supply and I just used the Velcro that came with board. I did also buy some industrial Velcro in case the stock stuff didn't take but I've had no issues at all and I pretty much mounted it after I bought it in October 2015. It is a bit heavy but the convenience of having all my pedals pre-wired into the Helix and just running a couple cables to my amp and guitar definitely outweighs that. The only thing is I wish I got the Pedaltrain with the hard case instead of the softcase. I'm actually thinking of upgrading to this for a little more convenience. http://www.diago.co.uk/pedalboards/diago-pedalboards.html
  11. Honestly I couldn't tell you, I just know that you can adjust each string's individual levels so maybe that might help? I ordered one a couple weeks again and patiently wait. New to the variax experience also.
  12. How do you find the tension on the strings with the standard gauge and baritone scale? Have you delved into workbench yet to see if you tighten up the palm muting via tweaking? How does the mag pick up sound?
  13. What's your signal path like in the Helix. What are you running before the preamp and afterwards.
  14. What type of amp are you using? Does it have an instrument level or line level FX loop? Is the Helix FX loop corresponding with the signal level of your amp. Have you tried different cables?
  15. That's hilarious. Anyone who spends a lot of time dealing with software or upgradeable hardware should print this off and keep by their computer.
  16. I'd b curious about this also, I'm hoping to do some bass re-amping in the next week or two and was definitely anticipating this update for all the low end goodness promised.
  17. Somewhat of a different approach but do you have an amp available to you? Maybe trying plugging into the FX return on it and start from there. I was in a similar boat when I first switched to the Helix and I found working with something I was familiar with (amp in room sound) helped get me over the hump to better understand the process. Once I was comfortable with constructing my patches that way then I proceeded to work them into more of an "in the box sound" and running FRFR. Sometimes baby steps isn't a bad thing and can keep you from getting to overwhelmed because there are a huge amount of options and variations that you can put together. It's a deep rabbit hole.
  18. It's too keep from feeding the new Helix models into the older HD models. If you were just to plug in via the L6 Link you'd end up running one into the other.

If I'm not mistaken I believe Glenn Delaune designed a pretty good patch that he has for sale on his website.
  20. And here it is, vote it up if you agree! https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Snapshot-Return-Mode/869549-23508
  21. It's definitely a feature that I've wanted ever since I made the jump to the PODXT. That was one of my favorite parts of my Peavey Transfex and made life a lot easier to play and sing if you only had one button to concentrate on. It would be great if we had it for snapshots and presets. Has anyone seen it on ideascale?
  22. That is a beast of a pick, you could club a baby seal with it! How's the grip on it and the stone ones? My fingers get brutally sweaty and I find if the picks don't have any type of ridging I start to lose control as they slip between my fingers. Right now I've been primarily using the Dava grip picks which work great but I chew through them pretty quickly and at $8 for a pack of 5 it starts to add up quickly. I also tried the Gravity picks which have been nice and durable but they just don't seem to gel with me and I'm still having the gripping issue.
  23. Well here's a quick run through of a preset that I put together for my bass: LA Studio Comp -> Valve Driver (low gain, high level) -> split crossover (Cali Bass, ANGL Meteor) -> Elephant Man Delay -> HX Dual Cab (4x10 Rhino, 2x15 Brute) -> Room Reverb. With the split crossover I like to set it to 300hz, that way I get some good solid thump out of my low strings and the Cali Bass but can still get some nice articulation and definition with my higher strings/notes feeding the higher frequencies into the Meteor. Needless to say I keep the drive low on that amp.
  24. That's not bad, almost a pseudo cello thing going on. I think I'm going to have to download it and see if I can adapt it to my setup.
  25. Wow, what a bitter little lollipop. He/she finally gets what he/she's after and can't gracefully accept defeat and eat a hat. Is it because you don't have one? I'm sure the community will be able to pitch in and provide you with one.
