Beyond my expertise, but I believe the reason wifi isn't a viable option is that wifi is a packet-based protocol - that is to say that instead of sending a continuous data stream, you're sending discrete bundles of data. So you always have some sort of buffer, and with that latency that would be unacceptable for real-time playing.

Sure, you can use the Variax's 1/4" outs with any regular wireless system, but as far as controlling the Variax, no dice... Read it and lol, or weep... http://line6.com/support/topic/19503-question-for-the-forum-about-wireless-variax/?hl=wireless

Have you seen this? Sounds pretty good to me...

The HD500 and 500X have screens and all the M-series pedals have screens, and I have to say that in all my years here on the forums I don't remember ever seeing anyone posting anything about them being cracked. It's probably happened somewhere, but if these screens were so delicate, I would think you'd be seeing them cracked more often.

Not exactly this, but I've been using my JTV69US as my main gigging guitar for over three years. I have the maple neck on mine. I've never tried one of Korean JTV69S's with a maple neck. I'd be interested to see how close it feels to the US version. I love the neck on mine.

The one thing about the Helix delays (well, one among many things) that's different than the HD series is the way the mix knob works. On the Helix, if you have the mix knob at 50%, that gives you equal wet and dry signals. If you go past 50, the wet start to get louder than the dry. If you want a delay where the repeats are not quite as loud as the dry, but almost, you'd want to have the mix in the 46-49 range. I actually like the Helix delays quite a lot. I liked the HD/M series delays, too, but I think the only one I really miss is the Auto Volume Echo. I would like to see that on the Helix eventually.

It's $699 if you look at this link: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid And, actually if you put it in your cart from the normal link, the price will change to $699.

A little clip I put together today just as kind of a proof of concept. I've been wanting to try this for awhile, but haven't gotten around to it. I assigned MIDI note values to a few of the Helix's footswitches and used them to control a patch on the Minilogue as pad in the background. Nothing special about the guitar playing. So I recorded the synth and guitar simultaneously into Reaper (4 tracks in total). The synth is being controlled by and recorded through the Helix. https://soundcloud.com/phil-miller-20/minilogue-helix

The Dual Delay model is a digital delay with modulation. If you wanted to use it as a single delay, you could turn the mix down to zero on one of the delays. That actually seems like the most percussive delay on the Helix to me.

Check this out: https://youtu.be/u38HcVMHZ-M?t=31 If you're putting a Helix through that much abuse at a gig, you have other issues to worry about... :)

Do those presets work? In my experience, if there's actually a corrupt preset, the Helix locks up when trying to go to them. If they work, perhaps just re-saving them might be all you need to do.

If you actually want to use some sort of looping with a band, you either need to have a click track with a MIDI clock to sync everything (assuming you have a looper that can be MIDI synced and quantized), or everyone just needs to follow the looper. The click track thing won't work with the Helix, as 1) the Helix doesn't yet have MIDI sync capability, and 2) the looper isn't tied to any tempo settings on the Helix. I'd say that trying to use the looper with a full band would be pretty tricky. If you have good timing, and the band can really hear you, it might work, but I would not want to try to do it with a drummer. I have seen guys use DL4 loopers with full bands, but when the whole band is playing, it seems they stop the loop and just hit the "play once" button. That way the loop is just shot out once, and it can be re-synced on each go around.

The paths coming out of a split block aren't a left and right pair. They are actually two stereo paths. So if you put a pan block before a split block, what you'll be doing is muting either the left or right side of each of the two paths. The pan blocks are kind of misnamed, in a sense, because really, it's more a balance control. If you think of how a balance knob acts, in the middle of the knob, both the left and right sides are at 100%. If you turn the knob to the left, the left side stays at 100%, and the right channel decreases the further left you move the knob. If you turn it to the right, the right channel stays at 100%, and the left decreases as you turn the knob more to the right. That's what is happening with the pan effect. So anyway, I think you can do what you want to do by simply selecting the "A/B" option in the split block and controlling that with the expression pedal. The will allow to go back and forth between the two paths.

Yes, about $1000 difference... :D Can't really say anything bad about the 500X, as I think it's still a great deal, but the Helix is even a better deal even if it costs 3X as more. The Helix is just kind of on a different level. The whole package is just extremely fun to use. It's one of the most fun pieces of gear I've used in a long time. Editing and creating tones is a breeze, and there really is not much of a learning curve, especially coming from the HD series.

Open letter to Line 6 - Please future-proof our Helix patches!

Well, in the case of the software I'm talking about, Autodesk has a virtual monopoly. I guess there might be other BIM software, but Revit (and AutoCAD) is the industry standard, so if you're a design firm you have to have to simply work on projects. It's kind of like Pro Tools in that regard, although it's probably more feasible that a studio could run something other than Pro Tools than it is that a design firm could use something other than AutoCAD or Revit. -

Pray to God that Line 6 doesn't take the Autodesk route, though. Dealing with Autodesk is kind of like dealing with the mafia anymore. They are switching over to a system where they are getting rid of their "perpetual licenses", and moving to a pure subscription model. So for a single seat of Revit, I believe you'll have to pay $2500 or something like that a year. And with Revit, they do offer backwards compatibility in the sense that a new version of Revit can open an old Revit file, but there's no way to save, say, a 2016 Revit file as a 2015 Revit file. So it ensure that as long as you're working with Revit you will do the annual upgrade. -
Going into the effects return would bypass the preamp, so not only would not have enough level going into the power amp, it would also sound horrible.

If you know Andertons isn't getting any in until May, you may want top open up a support ticket with Line 6 before trying to do a return. They may be able to help you faster than you think.

I'm a little confused what you're asking for. As noted above, there really isn't such a thing as PC toggle. A PC message is simply a single message telling whatever device is connected to load the patch or preset associated with that message. You can already assign a PC message to a footswitch.

This is actually by design, but whether or not you hear this is selectable in the Global Settings menu. To change it go to Global Settings > MIDI/Tempo > Page 2: Knob 1 (Tap Tempo Pitch) and change the setting from "authentic" to "transparent".
