I have a MIDI Solution Event Processor at home... I'll have to try hooking it up to my Helix to see if it powers it. I think it worked when I tried it with my M13.

Yes, this is correct. If you turn the "Trails" parameter in the effects loop block off, this will mute the return as soon you bypass the block.

The program you're looking for is called Line 6 Updater. Here's the newest version: Windows: http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=7023 Mac: http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=7022

The master volume knob is in the digital domain, not an analog volume control. Check out Ben Adrian's post here. Ben is the lead sound designer for the Helix.

Don't know how many channels or what length you need, but sounds like this sort of thing: http://www.seismicaudiospeakers.com/16-channel-xlr-splitter-snake-cable-two-15-foot-trunks/p/SATSS-16x1515

Yeah, it's a little snug when you first get it, but as others have said, it loosens up. I'm not sure how you have the Helix in the bag, but I've found putting it in so the end without the pedal on it goes in first works out best.

If you're OK using a 1/4" out for the dry signal, you don't actually need to use another path. You can just insert a send block as the first thing in your path. Set the mix to 50%, and the dry path from the send block will be the same level as the signal going though the block to the rest of your path. If you want to use SPDIF, you'd have to set up a separate path as mentioned above.

That Lindy device is not going to act as a USB host - that's not what it does. The USB On the Go protocol is a protocol used for mobile devices. It allows mobile phones to act as USB hosts or clients depending on how and what they're connected to. With the Lindy device, the mobile device would be acting as a host, and this little device is analog to a USB hub you'd connect to your computer.

If you keep it in the Variax, it will still drain relatively quickly. Your best bet is to keep it in a cool, dry place - the cooler the ambient temperature, the longer it will maintain a charge. Also, Lithium Ion batteries do better when they're stored with a charge between 40-50% of their total capacity (as opposed to 100%). I think this is why whenever you get a new phone, the battery always has some charge.

As Silverhead said, you certainly can, but unless your wah is something really special, I'd recommend using the Helix wahs - they're great, imo. As far as saving blocks, you have the potential for 32 blocks in each preset, and if you're worried about DSP, the wahs are some of the least DSP-intensive effects.
-
Well, for now, you can simply set the minimum and maximum opposite of what they currently are. Set it so the minimum is 100% and the maximum is 0%. There isn't a polarity setting for external pedals right now. You could also make or buy an adapter to switch the polarity of the pedal.

The orange output paths are representing the USB outs for re-amping purposes. USB inputs 7 and 8 will always be dry tracks, so if you record those in your DAW, you can play them back through your DAW and have them sent to any of the USB output pairs back into the Helix. The orange input, USB 1/2 out, is going to be the main stereo out from your computer. I think it a little confusing because when you talk about re-amping, the ins and outs for your DAW and Helix are swapped. The output of the Helix is actually an input for the computer, and the output from the computer is actually an audio input back into the Helix.
-
Are you sure you don't have the input set to something else? You could have this input selection set to global and just have the guitar input disabled for tone path 1.

There's not a set MIDI map as far as controlling amp and effect parameters, so templates wouldn't really be all that useful. You shouldn't have any problems assigning certain knobs to different parameters in the Helix. You just do it by going into the controller assign menu (holding down the knob for the parameter you want to control is the quickest way to get there), hitting the "learn controller" knob, and then turn the knob or move the fader you want to use to control that parameter.

DI has said that Bluetooth was essentially a non-starter because of how much additional data is needed for a Helix preset compared to a Firehawk preset. If you had something like Microsoft Surface, I suppose you could actually just use the USB connection live. I don't know if I'd want to try that, though.

As long as you select "Helix" in the first two columns here, and check beta, the link will show up: http://line6.com/software/index.html The way the downloads section of the site is set up, you can't actually get a direct link for the actual software without going through the search widget.

Here's the official Apple one: http://www.amazon.com/Lightning-to-USB-Camera-Adapter/dp/B014VGHG0U/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1464729302&sr=8-4&keywords=ipad+camera+connection+kit Basically a lighting to USB adapter. It allows you to plug a regular USB cable into the iPad or iPhone.

Can we expect additional Rigs/Effects in future updates?
phil_m replied to musiclover7's topic in Helix
100% chance. :) I don't know what Line 6 has planned as far as paid model packs in the long-term, but I know they aren't planned for the short term. And even if I did know their plans, I couldn't share them... -
Just to clarify something, you can get up to 60 seconds in stereo and 120 seconds in mono with the Helix looper as is stands now. You just have to hit the 1/2 speed switch prior to recording your loop.
-
I guess my take is different - the vast majority of people I've seen use looping live have been using relatively simple loopers. The good ol' DL4 is by far the one I've seen most often, and with that the max is 28 seconds. These simple one-layer loopers aren't really mean to be a sophisticated multi-track looping system, but you can still do some very creative things with them. Basically, the reason the Helix doesn't have more looping time and more features is that those sorts of devices are using a very different sort of system architecture that the Helix doesn't have. If you want a sophisticated looper like that, I guess the good news is that it's very easy to incorporate into a Helix-based rig.

It sounds like you're monitoring through your DAW as opposed to through the Helix itself. If you monitor through the Helix, there should be no latency.

POD XT LIVE to POD HD500 - Model packs
phil_m replied to marcelorivera's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
No, they will not. The XT series and the HD series are two different platform with different modeling architectures. The model packs you bought for the XT Live could be transferred to another device or plug-in from the list here, but not to anything from the HD series. -
Gearbox isn't actually supported currently, so there was never a Windows 10 update made for it. However, I believe that you may be able to install the last version for Windows 7 and 8 and have it work. Just select "- All OS -" in the third pulldown menu here, and you'll see the download. http://line6.com/software/index.html

It's in this document: http://line6.com/data/6/0a06434df0f650914b2056015/application/pdf/DT%20Amplifier%20MIDI%20Implementation%20Guide%20-%20English%20%28%20Rev%20A%20%29.pdf Found in the "Manuals" section of the site now.

The fact that it offers interaction with the mobile app is one of Firehawk's main selling points. So, yes, if that's not important to you, it might not be the device for you. Personally I find using a mobile app for this type of task much easier and less disruptive to workflow than using a PC-based editor.
