Not trying to minimize anything, but I guess this doesn't bother me too much. Like I said, if it's something simple, I may try to block the whole between the cavities, but I break strings so infrequently, I might not mess with it. Given that it's literally been months since I broke a string and these pieces were floating around down there for so long without issue, I think the risk of a short seems pretty minimal. I'm more concerned about the inconvenience of removing the backplate to get to the pieces. It seems that broken strings have a tendency to become a nuisance in floating trem systems. I don't know how many times I've had to poke the ball end out of a Strat trem with a paper clip or something else.

I've never noticed that until now. I just looked in mine and there were two string ends in mine. I don't break strings all that often, so who knows how long they've been there. I guess if there hasn't actually been an issue with them affecting anything by now, it's more of an annoyance than anything. I may look into stuff something into the hole between the trem cavity and the electronics. It looks like they're just sliding down through the hole for the wiring.

I would be surprised to see any new body shapes anytime too soon. I think my 69 is a nice looking instrument, though. It kind reminds me of a cross between a Strat and a Jazzmaster.

I have no idea how hard it would be to fix such a thing or if it would even be possible. I don't think any tech would be able to really tell you without looking at it. But as far as dangerous capacitors, I wouldn't think that would be an issue. It runs as 9V AC, and there's no reason that you would be dealing with elevated voltages. Any of the capacitors internally would drain their charge very quickly.

You don't think blinking lights are professional looking? I like to have as many as possible! :D Seriously, I love 'em... Glad you got it sorted it out, though.

The UX2 becomes your soundcard when you have it hooked up, so playing a backing track is pretty simple. You can use whatever media player you want on your computer, and just play the track. If you want to record along with the track, you could insert the track into your DAW as a track and play/record your guitar tracks along with it.

2.0 Semi Hollow Tones?
phil_m replied to fr0sty's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The bridge pickup on the semi model is definitely a bit brighter and scooped sounding. I do understand what people liked about the old model. I like that model quite a bit, too. It was nice and thick - meaty. I just don't know if it was accurate to a real 335 or not. I have a Gibson ES-137 which has the 498T and 490R pickups in it, so it's not quite as vintage sounding as the 335s PAF's, but even so, the bridge pickup can actually get quite piercing. So I guess I don't know if I liked the old model because it wasn't as authentic or what... I do find that there's much more difference now between the Les Paul model and the 335. Before the update, these models sounded pretty similar to me. -
Post Your "wishlist" For The Next Update!

It's not a Line 6 website. Ideascale is a different company altogether that Line 6 is subcontracting for this. -

What's the big deal about creating another account? Just use the same username you use here if you want. -
Just to reiterate, the place to submit ideas, feedback, criticism, etc. for Line 6 products is here: http://line6.ideascale.com/ I would note that there doesn't really seem to be a huge contingent of people unhappy with update based on that site. You'll always have some people unhappy. That's life. But I'd also say that Line 6 isn't looking to change sounds or models just for the heck of it. They are trying to provide a more accurate modeling product.

Neck Differences On Jtvs
phil_m replied to bclarke675's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I really like the neck on the 69 as well. It is narrower at the nut than any guitar I have, but it doesn't bother me. Overall I find it a really comfortable guitar. -
Line 6 switched over to new forum software a number of months ago, and in doing so had to orphan the old forums. Those forums, however, still appear in Google searches, and they are still viewable in read-only format. But they are no longer active, so that's why you can't reply to those posts.

Well, the two amp blocks will show up in the tone paths, but just bypass them by selecting "no amp" as the model (--- in HD500 Edit). The icon will still be there, but there won't be anything there affecting your tone.
-
I hear very little difference between the two to be honest. In a blind test, I think it would be very difficult to pick out which is which based on those samples.
-
Why not just sell the combo and buy the head? I have to imagine that even if you lose some money with the transactions that it would be less cost in time and money than going through the hassle of doing the conversion yourself.
-
Sure... Just set the input for Path A to be the Variax acoustic and the input for Path B to be the mags. As long as you keep the path separate, you can have completely independent effects in each one.
-
Well, I think you're probably mostly correct. Although, I will say this. I think there is more difference in the levels of different pickups than people realize. I know that the levels of the models were made to be more equal in the final release. They maintained some difference for realism's sake, but I think if they modeled the pickups at the level they were actually at, people would probably not like it. There are some pretty severe difference in the levels of some of the modeled guitars.
-
I don't see why that wouldn't be possible, but, honestly, I'd say the chance of them making models of different versions of guitars already modeled would be relatively slim. So many people have requested models of different guitars over the years (such as an SG, Jazzmaster, etc.) that I'd think there would be more interest in doing totally new guitars first.

Variax 2.0 Spank Bug ?
phil_m replied to fremen's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I have done this... Just did it again yesterday, and to me the Variax model is pretty much identical to my 2012 American Standard Strat with the Fat 50s pickups (which makes sense considering Line 6 modeled a 50s Strat). I also have Strat Plus with Lace Sensors in it, and those are bit thicker sounding, but they also don't have quite the same bite as standard Strat pickups. -
There's really no delete function for the presets, but you can overwrite them with anything you want. If you want to overwrite them with on of the blank presets, you can copy and paste using HD Edit, or on the HD500 itself you can hit the save button while in the preset you want to save and then choose the location you want to overwrite.

Changing patches with HD Edit running means all bets are off. There can be all sorts of weirdness when do that. But even without that, if you are changing patches with the DT25 connected and you're going from one topology to another, there can also be some popping. The manual for the DT25 actually mentions this. For quick patch changes with the DT25, it's best to not go from from radically different topologies between presets.
