Sure... It's kind of up to you where you want to put it in the signal chain, but you'd probably want to put after the X3L. You could try it in the X3L's loop if you want. It depends on what you want to do with it.
-
Do you have the switch near the unbalanced outputs on the back of the unit set to "line" or "amp"? It should be set to "line".
-
The looper is always in the chain. Are you sure you're not talking about the effects loop block? If that's in your chain somewhere and you want it to be gone, just change it to another effect or change it to be "none".

So We're About A Week Out From The Firmware Anniversary Give Or Take...

Everything produced by human hands is flawed in one way or another... Such is life. -
I'm not exactly sure of what you're trying to do, but I'm sure that you're not going to be able to do it. The MIDI ports on the HD Pro X aren't seen by the driver, so you won't be able to use them to interface synths with Pro Tools. You'll have to get a separate USB to MIDI adapter to do that.

So I think what you're experiencing might have something to do with how the POD handles a single input with a dual tone. If you just using Tone A set to Variax, Tone B is essentially being muted if you have it set to Guitar. So that signal comes and when it hits the split, it essentially gets halved with one side going to the amp model in Path A and the other in Path B. So the signal going to the Pre model is attenuated versus what you're sending to the DT25 when you switch the amp in Tone A off. Try setting Input 2 to "Same" and see if the sounds are any closer. It should give you a hotter signal going into the Pre model. It will increase the signal going into Path B as well now that I think of it, but there may be no way around it. Essentially, even though the preamp models in the HD500 and DT25 are the same, the signal paths going to and from them can be made to be different. I think you may have stumbled onto one of those times where this becomes apparent.

So how do you have the inputs set up? Do you have the input for Tone B set to "same" or do you have it muted?

Serious Bug In Workbench And Jtv

Sounds like the only thing you haven't changed is the interface. It could be the port on the interface is damaged. Or it could be the port on the guitar itself. -
You might know this already, but if you change the DT25 to LVM, the models in your tone actually change to the full models. You don't have to actually change the amp model in the POD.

How do you have your input set on the HD500?
-
The 500X's MIDI map is what it is... It can't be changed. What you could do, and I know it's not quite as elegant, is to make it so the TimeLine and HD500X are set to different MIDI channels, and then in side your presets in the HD500X program a footswitch to send whatever PC message (on whatever channel you have the TimeLine set to) you need. As long as two devices are set to different channels, you won't have to worry about the HD500X sending messages you don't want the TimeLine to respond to.

The file isn't anything that an application could open, really. You need to use Line 6's utility program, Line 6 Monkey to send the update to the X3L. Once you download and install that, hook up your X3L with a USB cable, start the Monkey program, and it will guide you through the process of what to do. It's pretty painless, really.

Jtv Scratch And Dents Lately

I wouldn't expect any manufacturer to do this sort of thing, honestly. That's typically not how production is done in factories. Usually, factories have a QC department and inspections are done according to the manufacturer's specs. The goods are boxed up at the factories, sent to distributor warehouses, and then sent to dealer. That's the typical supply chain these sorts of things. -
Do you have the noise gate on in any of the scenes in that folder?

It's harder to tell the difference between the two than you'd think! :D http://ikeaordeath.com/

Serious Bug In Workbench And Jtv
phil_m replied to guilhordas's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I don't know that I agree that it's normal... I've not altered the volume of the strings on my JTV69 since doing the update, and it sounds fine to me. I don't know why some people seem to have this issue and others don't. I suspect there could be differences in the levels of piezo between the models. But, yes, altering the volume of the strings is easy to do in Workbench. -

The only way to use Workbench HD at the present time is to use the Workbench interface. To do the update, though, you can use any device with a VDI interface. -

Is Workbench doing this after you load your existing bundle? If so, I'd say the presets in that bundle may be corrupted. It is probably best to start from a clean slate and not try reloading those patches. -
There is a newer version of firmware for the Spider Jam... I believe 2.09 is the latest. However, there is not editing software for the Spider Jam. It's not compatible with Spider Edit IV.
-
That should be set to "line" also. You'd set it to "amp" if you were plugging into the front of a guitar amp or going into some other device expecting an instrument level signal.

I honestly don't think it matters that much when you do the update with a POD. You do need to make sure the volume knob is turned up. But as long as Monkey recognizes the guitar, you should be fine. I probably had the models turned on when I did mine. To be honest, I didn't pay attention to it when I updated. I just did what the Monkey told me to do. -

Yes, it is... I actually would recommend using that people POD to do the update as standard operating procedure if they own one. It seems like a more robust connection to me. The only thing you can't use the POD for yet is connecting to Workbench HD. -

Have you tried reinstalling the firmware using the HD500 instead of the Workbench interface?
