Hi Eric, When you encounter this sort of thing when using different interfaces, and the levels are completely different between one and the other, then the problem is usually with the interface setting. I’m going to guess that what you are experiencing is purely to do with “gain staging”. I’m not sure what model your PreSonus interface is, but if I recall correctly they work at +10dBu. Rather than type all the options available I will point you to a similar discussion that was addressed by “rd2rk”, a regular contributor to the Helix forum. The important bit of the SOS article is in the section headed “Setting Initial Levels” Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Well, from the screen shots, it looks like you are able get the Updater to see your Helix, but rather than installing the firmware from a previously downloaded file, you’re updating via the internet. Even in 2021, this can cause issues simply by having an unstable connection and/or a large amount of server traffic. If you have problems with the update do a “local install”. Also, it’s a good idea to close down any other running applications and disconnect other USB items to avoid potential conflicts. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi Steve, This is exactly what I was saying. I have never encountered a software update causing a hardware failure. As noted by tech support, the input seems to be malfunctioning and needs to be checked out, and or repaired by a technician. Your LT is full of electronic components and as such could last a lifetime or cease to work in an hour. It’s an unknown and can never be predicted. As an example, there is a lamp by the front door to my house, and the bulb in that is still working after 17 years. By comparison, the light by the back door seems to require replacing every couple of months. Hope this helps/makes sense Good luck.

Well, I guess that is the point. You may not have experienced any of these issues, but it doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Because the original didn’t work! And it still has issues. https://www.gottabemobile.com/macos-big-sur-problems-5-things-to-know/

Hi, I keep on telling myself to stop doing this, it gets tedious posting this info over and over, but here we go - one more time. You don’t mention what your computer and OS are, but I will guess Windows, plus the routine should be the same for a Mac. Firstly go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select HX Stomp then go to the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" menu item and select HX EDIT, now select your Windows system or Mac OSX from under the "-ALL OS-" tab, then click “GO”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.0 for your HX Stomp. then below that you will also need the Firmware 3.01 Flash Memory. Now scroll right the way down the page where you will find Line 6 Updater version 1.9. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are. Then: Remove all the previously installed Line 6 software from your computer especially the Windows drivers and then restart your computer. Make sure to turn off the power to your HX Stomp. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and HX Stomp. Ensure that HX Edit is definitely closed and that you have your HX Stomp reconnected to your PC/Mac by USB cable (do not use a hub, some front USB ports on PCs act like a hub) and hold down “Page >” while turning the power on. (You may see a blank screen, but keep going). Now, launch the Line 6 Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HX Stomp and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at, and select the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. When it completes you can install the new HX Edit v.3.0 software and you should be good to go. No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Mmm... I would doubt that, I have not yet encountered software actually damaging hardware, that would be very odd. Also, if that was a possibility, I think the Helix forums would be alive with complaints from people suffering the same problem as yours, but no, you appear to be alone with this. The only thing that I did find was someone complaining about the sound, which as we know, is something your unit doesn’t have. Sorry that I cannot be more helpful with this.

V2.20.0 - Helix loses the input signal while scrolling through presets
datacommando replied to MojoAxe's topic in Helix
Hi Steve, Already replied to the exact same post in this thread. Cross posting is not usually a great idea, it gets confusing. -
Hi Steve, Yep - but if you check your posts from 1st and 3rd January 2021, you say that you did that without any change to the situation - no audio out. That v3.01 fix was entirely for what it stated - “severely corrupted audio output”, apparently so corrupted, your ears would bleed (slight exaggeration), but nasty, horrible corruption to the point where you would be happy not to be able to hear it. Looks like you need a repair - sadly, no way out of that one. Good luck.
-
Uhmm! This one is exceptionally weird. Judging by the final image it obviously got to the point of registering as v.3.01 firmware. One final thing before you contact Customer Support. Try a factory reset while the USB cable is not connected. Hold down Foot Switches 2&3 while turning on the power to the Stomp. If the hardware gets past the start up screen to a preset page, then reconnect the USB and launch HX Edit. If it fails then it may be a hardware issue that requires a technician. HX Stomp Button Combination Description All 3 Footswitches Clears all presets/IRs FS1+2 Resets presets and IRs FS 2+3 Factory restore (globals, presets, IRs Hope this helps/makes sense. I’m all out of ideas now.

Much as I would hate to state the bleeding obvious - did it miss your attention that Line 6 recently released the biggest update to the firmware that customer’s had been clamouring for a long while? Maybe they have been busy getting that sorted out for the bulk of Helix product owners? I wouldn’t want to be the person who distracted them from that to cater for a minority of Mac users. Furthermore, if you check the main Helix forum there are far more people who are not happy about random USB disconnects (mainly Windows users). Basically, it may be best to simply form an orderly queue. Everything comes to he who waits. Hope this helps/makes sense.

When the update of the firmware to version 3.01 finished did your HX Stomp go through the “Rebuilding Presets” routine and reset itself? If not have you tried performing one of the Hardware reset options yourself? Also try restoring your presets from the backup file which you made before the firmware update. Here ya go! HX Stomp Button Combination Description All 3 Footswitches Clears all presets/IRs FS1+2 Resets presets and IRs FS 2+3 Factory restore (globals, presets, IRs Hope this helps/makes sense.

You say that you have read through and tried all the suggestions posted here, but let’s just give this one more go around. Probably the only people there will be you and me. ;-) Sure won’t - it’s like entering the Matrix. Should have taken the blue pill. -

Ha ha ha, - it’s not a lollipop substitute. It’s a Mac OS thing - it is also sometimes referred to as the “Marble of Doom”, https://www.macworld.com/article/1151583/spinningbeachballofdeath.html :-) -
Helix Native 3.01 available to Download

Hi Maybe you are unaware that posting this request here is not enough, you actually have to post your ideas/request onto the IdeaScale site to be voted on. Find it here: https://line6.ideascale.com Ensure that nobody else has made the same request, and if they have you can vote it up. Afterwards you can post here (link below), in the correct thread, to let other users know what you have asked for. That way, they can vote for it if they like the idea. https://line6.com/support/topic/14497-helix-ideascale-community-submissions/page/1/ Most of the latest effects and amps added to firmware 3.01 got into the Helix, because they started out on IdeaScale. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Mmm... you make this seem as if only Line 6 are not up and running with this Silicon stuff. Bet ProTools users are thrilled as their stuff will not work either - along with many others. https://www.toolfarm.com/news/apple-silicon-compatibility/ Personally, I cannot see a reason for anyone using serious audio apps to switch to an M1 machine right now. They may be slightly more powerful, but max 16Gig RAM, no Thunderbolt 4 yet, lots of audio apps won’t work properly (even with Rosetta), plus you cannot use any older Mac OS versions. Not for me just at the moment.

Hi, As previously noted, I’m a Mac pilot rather than Windows, but as these USB issue keep cropping up, I just looked around for possible clues. The thing about the Power Management has been mentioned before, although I haven’t seen the instances of it turning back on after it had been turned off. That could possibly indicate that some preference file is not updating correctly, or possibly the “USB Selective Suspend” settings. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-windows-10-turning-usb-devices There is a thing here on this site that covers most of the more obvious things on troubleshooting USB, but “Method 9 Uninstall Hidden Devices”, could be something that the average Windows user may not be aware of and might be worth checking out along with the other things. https://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/usb-device-not-recognized/ Hope helps/makes sense.

Yep, definitely weird... Although if you were using Mac it would be easy - just use Audio Hijack Pro. It’s not available for Windows, but here are some options. https://alternativeto.net/software/audio-hijack-pro/?platform=windows Uh? All you need to do is record the song, and then sing over it later. That way you could record as many vocal overdubs as you want. Are you sure that you really know what you’re doing? FYI. posting stuff like this in here is only going to attract ridicule, so why would you be surprised by these replies? A little bit more than “weird”. EDIT You seem to have found a very awkward and expensive way to prank call people if you’re using a Helix to do this. This childish nonsense is free if you bother to look. https://www.voicemod.net/free-voice-changer-software/

I’m not a Windows user and I’m not sure if this might help, but it could be worth checking out. There seems to be a whole bunch of stuff out on the internet about Windows and USB disconnects.

Ha, ha, ha! I still have a TASCAM Porta414 mkII and a 424 mkIII gathering dust in here somewhere, and I have nothing but time as I retired 3 years ago. Just having fun with the boys toys now.
