  1. Yeah, the 10 foot guitar cable was an attempt at humour. About the other points - no latency.
  2. HX Effects: Turn unit off and then turn back on. Hold Footswitch 6 and Tap throughout the boot process, until you see that your factory presets are loading. If you run into any trouble with a failed update or your unit will not boot up, try powering on while holding the right arrow ">" This will put the unit into update mode and you can re-install the latest firmware from there. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. I would conclude that, as the HX FX unit only has 128 presets in 32 banks of 4, you're correct. Others units have 8 setlists of 128 presets in 32 banks. You note the statement from "kylotan", and also from the manual: "setlist files exported from Helix family devices or Helix Native plug-in are not able to be imported and used on HX Effects devices." The reason that setlists from other devices cannot be imported to the HX Effects is because they are different. HX Effects does not include amplifier and cabinet models. You say that you have the same problem as the OP, where he asks about creating setlists. Well, you connect your hardware unit to HX Edit software and use that. Fill all 128 slots and save them, then do the same thing as many time as you need. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. Hi Daniel, It seems that you have tried the Factory /Update hardware reset procedure and the problem still persists. Starting to look like a hardware issue. Possibly the best thing to do is to contact the Line 6 Europe Service Centre and have a technician check it over. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. Yes, it is possible to listen to playback from your DAW, or even YouTube, iTunes etc., and play along perfectly normally. This one of the great features of these products, in order to practice you simply load up your favourite backing tracks and play along. You can connect the HX Stomp to your computer via USB and connect your monitor speakers to the Left and Right Output sockets on the rear of the Stomp, select the HX Stomp as you Audio Interface on your computer and everything just works. That's it. O.K. your guitar tutor is correct that a 10ms delay can be very disorienting and makes it difficult to play along (I would generally use a delay time of between 8 and 10ms on a simple pitch shift to create a sound similar to a chorus effect). The speed of sound is equivalent to 331metre per second (1087 feet/sec) depending on atmospherics, so let's say 350m/s (1200ft/s) therefore 10ms is like listening to sound from a speaker cabinet 10 feet away. I know guitar players who have guitar cables longer than 10 feet and stand that far away from a cab. How do they do that? You may find this helps. Hope this helps/makes sense
  6. As noted by “soundog”, when using the Stomp as an interface there will be no latency. This is a post from TGP about HX Stomp latency test results, but it has also been discussed many times on this forum. You could search for those threads. Although, lots of people regularly record using this product without any problems, and personally my Helix floor does this job on an almost daily basis. As you say that you are new to recording, you maybe worrying about something that isn’t going to be a problem for you. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/line-6-hx-stomp.1981420/page-149#post-27363734 or, this latest comment regarding Helix latency. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/helix-3-1.2197408/page-39 Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Possibly, if it’s trying to validate a license on Line 6 Marketplace, you need to have an internet connection up and running to verify the purchase. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, Read all about it in the manual before you buy. The information you need is in the HX Stomp Owner’s Manual on Page 44 - USB Audio. Many people use the Stomp for the exact purpose you are wanting to do. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a4010c935bb66a4c0c44f/application/pdf/HX Stomp Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps makes sense.
  9. Oops! O.K. Try these. And this - Hope these are more helpful - plus a read of the manual never goes amiss - see pages 7, 33, 39 and 40.
  10. Hi, As we haven’t heard from the OP since being advised to do a reset 2 months ago, I would hazard a guess that the reset must have worked. You will never know until you try. Either way, let us know how it goes. It may help others in the same situation. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. This like “Groundhog Day”. O.K. I will say this one more time. This forum is for people who use Line 6 products to help one another, peer to peer, with general problems. I have stated many, many times that Line 6 staff do not monitor these forums and if you need to get an answer to “when can I expect compatibility with the new generation of Apple products”, this is not the place. In various posts throughout this forum I have given suggestions as to how best get your issue noticed. I have even, pointedly asked the question of DI, at the very top of this page. This Big Sur issue is not something that directly affects me. I have been a Mac user right back to the early Mac Plus, but when it comes to serious audio applications, I have been burned before when an Apple OS change screwed everything for months. This taught me to never update until it’s safe to do so, and at the moment if I could no longer use my soft synth and plugin collection I would be dead in the water, and that’s somewhere I would not want to be. I am truly sorry that I cannot help you any further - this is not my problem, you must do what you think is best, or complain to people who may be able to change things, but they aren’t in here. Good luck. EDIT: Additional info from the Facebook group and the comment from Digital Igloo (Eric Klein)
  12. Oops! Must have been reading the Silicon and Rosetta page, but the situation remains if you check the other manufacturers. https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014683497-Apple-Silicon-Compatibility-News?_ga=2.178561764.1320131842.1612439634-1551232512.1612286669
  13. Ahh, yeah - old school, but what about all these modern youngsters? They don't speak ASCII - it's all changed now, iPhone this, that, and the other. Have you ever tried explain cassette tape recording to a millennial? Possibly when telephones had wires, or even fax machines, that's really good fun. :o
  14. No offence taken. The written word can easily be misinterpreted in these forums, especially since the emojis have been removed. I read somewhere that Digital Igloo has said that 3.1 isn’t as big as version 3.0 was, so the beta process may be quite quick. Last time they asked for extra beta testers the new firmware dropped a couple of weeks later. Also, rumour has it that 3.2 may b bigger than 3.0. (See Video in this thread) Stick with it.
  15. I have said this many, many times - it is not only Line 6 with these issues getting thing to work with the new Apple OS. Only yesterday, I noted that Native Instruments stated, they are unlikely to have their products working with the new OS for a very long time. In fact they don’t even give an estimate.
  16. What I actually said was it was “beyond my limited psychic powers”. I was intrigued as to how you would know that the update to HX Edit “implies that 3.10 has new models”. As for “urgency”, it no secret that over on TGP, Frank posted for people to help out on the beta testing for 3.1, Thursday, last week. Have you noticed how the regular contributors to these pages have been absent for the last few weeks? Those same people were also recruited as beta testers for v3.0. It’s due soon, that’s all we know. The only thing confirmed to be included is the fix for the “Vermin” distortion model, and some work on the main “engine” that didn’t make it into version 3.0. Anything else, is as usual, pure speculation. Hope this helps/makes sense
  17. This is what it says on the download page. For example, the update process now forces you to update HX Edit before your Helix/HX hardware. (Imagine that.) As for your comment: “If I'm right then the urgency of this update implies that 3.10 has new models or other changes that will be reflected in the future HX Edit.” I’m really not sure how you arrived at that conclusion? This update is to solve the problems that people were having by not having corresponding firmware and HX Edit on the same revision numbers, and ensure it doesn’t happen next time. How that implies new models is beyond my limited psychic powers. Hope this helps/makes sense
  18. Tell him the Rat distortion will be fixed!
  19. Guys, Complaining about this in here is no good, because we are simply other Line 6 product users - not staff who would have an answer. The man who really is the person best placed to give you an answer to this dilemma posted a link to the new HX Edit 3.01 I suggest that you might have a better response by posing you questions about Big Sur to him in the link below. Good luck
  20. Nice work, Eric, but what far too many people are actually asking in here is - “When will HX Edit work with the new Macs and Big Sur?” Surely you can give an update of the current status of that situation for these folks. TIA.
  21. You don’t give very much to go on here. When requesting assistance it’s advisable to supply as much info as possible, such as your computer and OS and what hardware you are asking about. Simply saying “all presets are empty” is not very revealing. Empty presets in what? Helix floor or Rack, Helix LT, HX Stomp or HX FX? First check that you are using HX Edit 3.0. If necessary you can reinstall your presets from the backup you made prior to updating, You did make a backup, didn’t you? Now preform a factory reset for the particular product where “all presets are empty”. You will find the reset process for your unit here: Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. I don’t know how the voting system works, so I cannot say if that is the only thing that Line 6 take account of. I do know that the “IdeaScale” is the only way to get your suggestion noticed.
  23. Hi, HX Effects Owner’s Manual- page 26. Renaming a Snapshot. Instead of having to remember the difference between "SNAPSHOT 1" and "SNAP- SHOT 2," it's helpful to rename your snapshots something descriptive, such as “VERSE,” “BIG SOLO,” or “D. IGLOO.” Same Manual - page 40 Global Settings > Switches When set to "Moment[ary]," the HX Effects device returns to Preset mode (or Stomp mode if Pg 1 > Knob 3 [Preset Mode] is set to "Moment[ary]") after select- ing a snapshot. When set to "Latch[ing]," the HX Effects unit stays in Snapshot mode until pressing + to return to Preset mode (or MODE/EDIT/EXIT to return to Stomp mode). Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. HAL 9000: [As he is being shut down] Good afternoon... gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000... computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant [voice becomes lower & slower] in Urbana, Illinois... on the 12th of January 1992. [voice becomes even more lower & slower] My instructor was Mr. Langley... and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you. Daisy, Daisy... ;-)
