Fine. I still think it’s nonsense, and as it probably isn’t going to happen anytime soon, I was simply making “rizzy” aware of the current option. As for Native guzzling DSP in your DAW, I have seen a comment from Digital Igloo about one of his projects running over 20 instances of HXN without any issues. Your mileage obviously varies. Each to their own. Hope this makes sense.

Yup! Although I would have thought that the file name would be a big clue. Usually the file will have a name, such as, Helix Floor Backup 2020-Apr-22.hxb Hope this helps/makes sense.

I don't think you realise quite how strange this all sounds. "I don't want to buy Helix Native as I have the hardware unit and it would be cool to automate it using a plugin dedicated to that." What I, and others, have been trying to get across to you is that the dedicated plug-in is already available, but you don't want buy it? What is anyone supposed to think when you state that, even though you have the Helix hardware (and therefore qualify for the discounted price) you still "don't want to buy Helix Native"? As you don't want to pay for an already existing solution, and as HX Edit is free, it might seem to indicated that you are asking for a modified free version of HX Edit. Where would that come from? Somebody has to spend time on it, it wouldn't just drop out of the sky, and there would be cost implications. "I just thought it would be cool to have another option on the table for the non Native users." Er... hello, why? Non of this makes sense. All this to re-invent the wheel. Jeez, it's like banging your head against a brick wall.

Ah! now it becomes a little clearer. You don't have a copy of HX Native, and as you say in the comment above, you "don't want to buy it"!. Therefore you must think that Line 6 should drop everything else they are working on, and devote time, energy and other resources to come up with a variation of software that they already have created - then give it to you for FREE! Good luck with that one. Anyone who owns a HX product ( Rack, Floor, LT, Stomp or Effects) can buy HX Native for $99.99. Sometimes there are deals when even that price may be dropped by 30%. Maybe it's time to invest in something that can do what you ask, and more - but free - it ain't gonna happen. Have fun

No, sorry, I still cannot comprehend what this would provide that is not already available with the Helix hardware and HX Native software. I have had a Helix floor since 2015 and HX Native since 2017, and both are used on an almost daily basis with Logic Pro X. I can record both processed and dry guitar via USB and re-amp using HXN. I don’t see what you’re asking for could improve on this, because it brings nothing new. Why should Line 6 waste valuable time and resources on something that we already have. Maybe you should spend some time working with Native, because once you have your D.I. audio in your DAW it doesn’t need to leave, everything that can be done in the hardware can be done in HX Native. That’s why Line 6 made it. Hope this helps/makes sense.

If the HX Effects is new, it will be covered by the warranty if it is faulty. As I said previously, this is a very unusual failure rate for these items. Contact the dealer and have it replaced with a new unit. I would guess that by mentioning “one of the greatest Online Dealer in Europe” you refer to Thomann who are very good with this sort of thing. Possibly the “other online dealer”, is Bax, who are also, in my experience with them, very reliable. Have it exchanged for a fully functioning unit, and let us know when you have it solved.
-
I would have liked that to be included right from the start. Most other modellers have this function - it’’s even in AmpliTube. IIRC, Eric has previously said that Helix was always intended to be extended by firmware updates. He mentioned that everything in all the firmware updates so far are things they wanted to put into the HX originally, but if they had waited until it was fully loaded, then we would still be waiting for the hardware to be released. Let’s hope that mic position was on the list of things they needed to finish.
-
I may be misunderstanding what you are requesting, because from your description it sounds a lot like HX Native which already exists as a DAW plugin in all those formats, and it does all those things right now. HX Edit is simply a “remote control” for the hardware. HX Native is the entire Helix “brain” minus the buttons, pedals and peripheral stuff, but they can all be automated in any DAW. I really don’t understand what you are asking for, and how it would possibly do anything differently from what can already be done in Native.

Yep, when you hit save on your Helix, use the small knobs under the display screen to scroll to the unused destination slot that you want. See page 16 Helix 2.0 Owner’s Manual - Saving/Naming a Preset. Simple really!
-
That’s something that I cannot comprehend - in fact it’s a failure rate that IIRC, has not previously been reported in these threads. As “phil_m” above asks, I also wonder where you managed to buy 3 malfunctioning units? Very odd!

3.1 update HOPEFULLY released around St Patrick's day March 17 if you care
datacommando replied to brue58ski's topic in Helix
Further information from Eric - "Hopefully around St. Patrick's Day." Spoiler alert: Probably won't happen by then; lots of stuff to release this month. -
The next firmware update, expected soon, should have some improvements to to the modelling engine. If that is simply making the code and processing more efficient, we don’t know, and to make it more intriguing this is a quote from Digital Igloo over on TGP earlier this week. It affects most (but not all) models to a differing degree and can literally be explained in a few words, so don't expect a holy grail or nothin'. The day 3.10 drops: XX% of users: "I can't tell a difference! Bunch of worthless hype, Line 6!" XX% of users: "I can totally tell a difference! Thanks, Line 6!" Clear as mud, eh? Hope this helps/makes sense.

3.1 update HOPEFULLY released around St Patrick's day March 17 if you care
datacommando replied to brue58ski's topic in Helix
Well, if you check the video (at around 27:00 in ) which I posted in this link (below), you can see that both Eric and Ben seem to indicate that it is the colour of the tolex covering on the amp that is what is being hinted at. I maybe wrong, but, here ya go... https://line6.com/support/topic/59310-hx-stomp-xl-how-many-of-you-were-waiting-for-this/?tab=comments#comment-367535 Possibly Orange? Hope this hasn’t pissed on your chips. -
3.1 update HOPEFULLY released around St Patrick's day March 17 if you care
datacommando replied to brue58ski's topic in Helix
I hope your St. Patrick's Day is on March 17th, like the rest of the world! That must be the amp of a special "Colour" and the new "Math" delay thing, beside the optimising to the engine etc, which DI says some people will notice and some will not. ;) -
how to create boutique pedals using built in models
datacommando replied to tattoodane's topic in Helix
Hi, Well, way back in 2012, Chris Vinniecombe, in a review on musicradar.com said: “To all intents and purposes, the Flint is two stompboxes in one. On one side, you have a tremolo effect with three voices based on a trio of 1960s amp tremolo circuits: '61 Harmonic Tremolo, '63 Power Tube and '65 Photocell. On the other side, you have a choice of 60s Spring Tank, 70s Electronic Plate and 80s Hall Rack reverb. '61 Harmonic Tremolo is probably the most noteworthy and least commonly heard of all the voices onboard, because it is based on the harmonic vibrato circuit that appeared briefly in 'brownface' Fender amplifiers of the early 1960s” If that’s correct, then the Helix contains the basic elements of the Flint. I would suggest that you could try patching a trem block into a reverb, or maybe adding a trem after a verb and see what you can come up with. Experiment, all the ingredients are in there, and unlike “real world boxes” it’s not likely to blow any circuits while you mess around. You’ll feel a lot happier when you discover how to create your own version. Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, I have seen this discussed previously way back in 2016, and the general consensus of opinion is that an A/B split results in a 3db variation in signal when merged again. The merge block is where this happens. This is that thread. This is a piece of research that forum user “”perapera” did a while back. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Someone possible could help you, but you really need to supply as much relevant information as you can. Simply saying that the update process failed is not enough. Luckily the “Boot Failure, Entered Update Mode” message is quite common and if you search the forum there are many posts with suggested solutions that may fix this quickly. If you cannot find the solution on here, then you really must supply the required details for someone to assist you. You know the sort of thing - what firmware were you updating from and to, what computer platform and OS you are using and exactly how you were performing the update and did your computer enter sleep mode during the procedure? Help us to help you.

As I have said many, many times in these threads about the delay in producing an update - it is not just Line 6, plenty of other "pro audio" companies are in the same situation. Prime example - only this morning I received an email from Eventide: QUOTE: Eventide plug-ins are compatible with macOS Big Sur on Intel-based Macs, and M1-based Macs using Rosetta. Eventide plug-ins do not yet offer native M1 support. To use Eventide plug-ins on an M1 Mac, you may need to launch your DAW under Rosetta (right-click the application icon, select "Get Info" and then select "Open using Rosetta"). Note that many DAWs do not yet support macOS Big Sur, so it is important to check your DAW's website for compatibility info before updating. Please check our forum thread regularly for up to date information about M1-based Mac compatibility. END QUOTE Hope this helps/makes sense

I think a lot of people might have already guessed that the Wireless version of this unit was the second piece of hardware that DI hinted at about the time of the v3.0 firmware update. Now we have both this and the HX Stomp XL out of the gate, maybe we can expect v.3.1 firmware to drop fairly quickly after these. I know it went into Beta a while back, but the “on runway” and “on approach” quips from Frank R have been lacking over on TGP. In fact it’s almost too quiet. Although, Eric did say “not February”, that has gone and Spring approaches - let’s hope it doesn’t happen on April 1st.

Ha ha ha, The Casio CZ- 101 is still a collectible item. I cheated and replaced all the old synths with software versions that are in the Arturia V Collection of 28 classics, and yes, it does have a Casio in there. Also in there are the CMI Fairlight and Emulator sampling synths, which when they first arrived were insane prices. These toys stop us from going mad.

The manual for the Pigtronix Echolution 2 states: Note: When only one of the two audio inputs is connected, that single input will be processed in stereo through both outputs. Usually, when connecting a guitar to this unit then you would only be using one cable from the guitar jack to the Echolution input, but when the signal is processed it will come out in glorious stereo. From your Helix you could use FX Loop1/2 using a single cable from Send 1 to the input of the Pigtronix, and two cables from the Echolution outputs into Return 1 and 2. That gives you your mono guitar out which then comes back in stereo and can be further processed by the Helix for example by a stereo reverb or whatever. If you add a mono effect after the stereo return then your signal will be summed back to mono. Note if you already have a stereo effect in use before the FX Loop Send, then you should also use and additional cable from Send 2 to the second input on the Pigtronics box. Hope this helps/makes sense.

I still sometimes refer to it as MIDI magic. When it first arrived I was amazed, IIRC the Yamaha DX7 was the first to implement it, but I had a Roland JX3P which was the first from them. Great fun being able to have the JX3P talk to my Yamaha CX5MII computer - remember them.

Not nearly enough. Enough said. :)

Helix Rack unable to take word clock in at 96k... but does at 88.2k?
datacommando replied to kohit8's topic in Helix
Here’s an idea for you. If you use the USB out from the Helix, you can record the processed stereo output along with the dry audio signal all at 96khz, thus avoiding using the analogue outs and another stage of A/D conversion. Not sure what computer and DAW you’re using, but it should be possible to do this by creating an aggregate device on a Mac. Hope this helps/makes sense.
