  1. Plus, as an option, a badly stored reel of tape that has “print-through” when played back. ;-)
  2. Hi, Launch your DAW and open an instance of Helix Native. Before updating your copy of Helix Native make a back up of all your presets by clicking on the small gear icon in the lower left corner of the HX Native screen then click on the "Presets/IRs" tab in the popup window. Then click on "Export Bundle". Once done you can then click the "Check for Updates" button, which will take you directly to the page where you can download the latest version.. Alternatively, if you already have HX Native you can simply download the latest version from the "DOWNLOADS" menu item at the top of this page. Then from under the "All Software" drop down select "Helix Native" then Select your computer operating system from under the "All OS" drop down then click the "Go" button. from the next page you can get the Software and download it to you computer. Once you have the downloaded file simply run the installer to add it to your DAW and it will update your version. When you next launch Native you can re-import the Backup bundle file that you made previously. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Not if you have ever used a 1'' Reel to Reel machine. That's what tape sounds like.
  4. Just updated my Floor and Native and it was smooth as silk. The longest time was spent in making and restoring the backup files - I seemed to have had it full of stuff. Stunning stuff. The Euclidean Delay and Dynamic Hall are the business. Big thanks to Eric, and all the rest of the Line 6 crew, for once again adding all this free stuff to an already amazing piece of kit.
  5. Thank you sir, for a great resource. Five stars! *****
  6. Yep, a couple or three over on the FarceBuck Helix Family page which boast 33,000 plus members. They seemed to fall into the usual category of not updating HX Edit first. As someone over there pointed out 5 minutes reading the release notes will save a long time of public embarrassment. As it has been pointed out many times, regarding these updates - nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
  7. Try removing the cable from your POD Go and your computer, then reconnect both the computer and POD. This solution was recommended by Igor Stolarsky, a member of Line 6 Staff, and moderator on the huge Helix Family Facebook group. It is also mentioned elsewhere in this thread. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, This page contains the only 2 comments that I have seen regarding this - if it was a major issue then this place would be alive with complaints. Always ensure that HX Edit and the firmware version numbers match, and reboot your computer. Please supply your computer and Operating System details, so others can compare, should they encounter issues with the installation. Hope this helps/makes sense
  9. Hi, If you think you have discovered a bug, then you really need to post to the section where it will has more chance of being noticed. https://line6.com/support/topic/16083-helix-bug-reports/ Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. It isn’t the same thing. Read the quote in this post from the guy who created the model. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. I think I will wait until after the rush, plus the studio is locked up until tomorrow and I’m having a beer now. Enjoy. Edit: Anyhow, if this new installation is so clever, it should know that I’m busy drinking and just get on with the job of setting itself up and then email me when it’s done!
  12. Great idea, but “mingyi” doesn’t want to get a dual processor unit such as the Helix LT, because it has too many switches and is too heavy! It’s a “no win” situation for him.
  13. Wrecking Crew member and top session man. Brilliant!
  14. Hi, This is not going to happen in a firmware update, as it has previously been explained that the HX Stomp has only one DSP whereas the the Floor, Rack and LT are all dual DSP. No matter how much you wish, or how many times you post the same thing - it is a physical impossibility. Hope this finally makes sense.
  15. Hi, Follow the instructions given by “soundog” in the post above, but as you are using a Helix LT, USB 7 will be the default setting for sending the dry unaffected guitar signal to Logic. IIRC, USB 5/6 is default for the HX Stomp. Also, please ensure that your Helix LT is selected as the audio in/out device in the preferences in Logic Pro X. You can use the Apple Audio/MIDI setup utility app to see everything is hooked up correctly. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Hi, It is not very clear if you are saying that the bass presets that you bought did work fine and now they don’t? If they never sounded good, then you have discovered that no matter how great the promo video for the preset made them sound, they will never sound like that when you load them into your Helix, LT. Rack or Stomp. This has been discussed at great length many, many times on here. Always the same conclusion, they will not be the same. Your environment, speakers, guitar, strings, technique will be fundamentally different from the way the tones were created and demonstrated. A YouTube video is not a great way to assess audio and if you use that as the reference point, it will be doomed to failure. Video compression is/can be a real PITA. If everything in your Stomp, including the factory presets, sounds wrong and a factory reset doesn’t solve it, then it may need a technician to check out the hardware. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Well, I have no idea why you are experiencing a volume drop in the Breathe preset. I can't hear it, or get it to happen when swapping between the 2 presets. Dunno, it is what it is. Although I don't think that I have ever felt the need for 4 delays plus 3 reverbs and a single simple EQ block (bypassed) and nothing else in the patch. Oh, yeah, it may just be me, but if the EQ block was kicked in, it has 12db rolled off the Low and Mid Gain and then a +1.4db Level bump at the end. Strange, not your regular type of settings. I didn't check too far into the rest of it, but I did spot that you seem to have the Cosmos Echo and Searchlights Reverb on MIDI CC 4 and 5 for Bypass and the Feedback on the Adriatic Delay assigned to Snapshot 4. The other preset 'Rise" had similar MIDI CC for bypassing FX blocks. You never mentioned anything about MIDI switching in your original post. IIRC, you're the guy who had issues setting up his KC and SD 170 to work with the HX Stomp, therefore my question to you would be - Are you certain that you have everything connected up correctly? Hope this help/makes sense. - Maybe not - and if not, when weird unexplained sh!t happens, do a factory reset.
  18. That's a cool little viewer for Helix patches - but the original comment about Pod Go presets was for the option to transfer in the opposite direction - POD Go to Helix. "Why am I unable to download patches from Custom Tone for the POD GO on to my Helix Floor? I thought they would be compatible".
  19. Simple answer. I repeat - Upload the offending patch and one that you regard as O.K. Then we can see if there is anything obvious. If not, you will need to reassess how your brain functions. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. File format: Helix file extension are .hlx POD Go file extension are .pgp That would seem to suggest an incompatible file. I guess you could try opening one in a JSON editor - Helix files can be opened that way, but I haven’t tried the other one. I can’t see the point of doing that really - lots of messing for no obvious advantage. It might just be a “FOMO” thing. Hope this helps/makes sense
  21. Ah, a mysterious preset - the easiest thing to do is to attach the offending preset in a comment here where someone can load it up and check it out for any weirdness. Also a preset that you regard as fine, could be a big help for a comparison. Sadly, as it’s rapidly approaching midnight here, and my studio is going to be locked up for at least another 12 hours, I can’t do that right now. Maybe somebody might be willing to take a peek at the file before I can. If not post - and wait. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Yep, amplification. Look again and you will see that is what is different from your other patches. Stick a Studio Tube Preamp in there if you don’t want to use a full amp and cab setup. What that will give you is something similar to sitting in the control room of a recording studio, and direct injecting your guitar straight into the mixing desk. David Gilmour has been known to use this technique. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Nope! Big clue - one is Helix the other is POD. Why would a CustomTone patch for a POD Go be any better than a Helix CustomTone patch? Me no understand.

    Powercabs

Hi, Two things leap out of your post. I want to buy a Powercab or possibly two. Forgot to mention that I don’t gig anymore. If you’re not playing live, why do you want to buy a couple of PowerCabs, when you already have a pair of Bose PA cabs? What you described, appears to require something more like a home studio setup rather than a live rig. You have a 12’ x 14” room, and if you are wanting to hear full range audio including vocals and backing tracks, you really would be better off investing in some quality powered studio monitors that are designed for exactly those purposes. A pair of powered Yamaha HS7 near field monitors would cost less than one of your SR1 or a PowerCab 112. Hook up a pair of those to your computer and a free DAW and away you go. You would have good stereo separation and audio definition. Hope this helps/makes sense.
