  1. Not sure about the HX Stomp and what stuff is in there when it ships, but the Helix LT , Floor and Rack ships with 8 Setlist and the last one is named Templates. These are a bunch of basic starting points for putting together many different workflows. For your use I imagine it would be similar to using the 4 cable method where a guitar player needs to "break out" from the signal path to the external amp. You can set up a signal flow which uses whatever you feel you might require in the chain and include a single Send/return FX Loop block into it. Then you simply load this as a template every time you need it and modify and switch around as necessary. If you need the FX Loop at the front but you placed it at the end, simply click on it and move out to the other end. It's easy enough. Start with using a Template for your stuff, and you're good to go every time. Here ya go - an example. ExampleTemplate.hlx Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. Sadly, not possible with the HX Stomp as it uses one whole DSP path to create the “spillover”. This is possible using a Helix LT, Floor, or Rack by sacrificing one processor path. You can get a similar effect by using ”snapshots” to switch inside a preset on the Stomp as mentioned by “silverhead” in the post above.
  3. Hi, Ah, that is an old thread, I don’t recall reading that, but it seems to be something related to a combination of hardware and the firmware causing the issue - very weird. Anyhow, the fact is that you sent your Helix to be repaired, paid forty odd quid for a diagnostic check, only to have them perform a factory reset which is something you had already done several times. Result - your unit still doesn’t work. That would indicated that the fault failed to be recognised during the “inspection”, which puts the ball firmly back in the court of E&M. Therefore you are paying for a service which you have not received. This sort of stuff can go down “rabbit holes” because you get situations where a computer or electrical fault will happen and then fail to manifest itself when a technician appears on the scene. First, I would be tempted to contact Line 6 Customer Support and explain the dilemma that you have followed their advice to send it for service, but there has been no improvement - simply a factory reset. Then maybe they could contact E&M and have them waive any charges and pay for shipping and have them perform a full range of diagnostic tests and then a repair. The downside with this is if the hardware requires extensive bench tests, you could be without your Helix for quite some time. Sorry, but there doesn’t appear to be a quick fix for this, and you still have a unit that doesn’t work properly. Let us know how it progresses - good luck.

    TJ blocks

Hi, If that example “TJPlexi” makes a reference to a Impulse Response block (usually shown as a pink coloured waveform), and that IR block is missing/empty, then my guess is it requires one of the free Tone Junkie IRs to be loaded into a specific slot otherwise it won’t sound right. IFAIK, The TJ prefix isn’t something from the factory presets, and the firmware update to v3.0 did have some artist’s presets available to download, but there weren’t any specifically for the HX Stomp and no mention of TJ. That’s all I have, unless you can give anymore details, but in the words of Digital Igloo - “All presets suck”. EDIT: Just to clarify - TJPlexi is one of the presets (not blocks) in the free pack from Tone Junkie, also free IR files at the bottom of the link page - simply enter a valid email and download. https://tonejunkiestore.com/official-tone-junkie-kemper-sampler-pack
  5. No worries, mate. Glad it worked for you - now time for a nice cold tube to celebrate! Yay! We are all hopeful that the next update to version 3.1 should be a lot more simple and painless. Good luck.
  6. Same here, never took to it at all - And, not quite within earshot of Elland Road, but from just over the hill - I hail from the small town with the “World Famous Variety Club”, home to the stars. ;-) Even smaller world! Back to the topic now!
  7. You would have thought that this far down the line, most people would have picked up on this stuff, but still they come. It’s relentless. All we can do is hope that the proposed v3.1 update routine will take the pain out of having to constantly type out and repost the same solutions over and over again. Until then, I guess we have to keep on keeping on.
  8. Hi. Good point. I noticed that the OP mentioned that he had gone through the Global Reset process, which sort of ruled the software option out. There was a spate of “joystick malfunction” posts after the v2.8 firmware update, the reset usually fixed it. Also, as I think you already know, a restart with FS3&4 held down for the UI test function might show the hardware fault. Ah! The Billy Bremner era, but which one? Player or Manager. My era was the first, with him, Bobby Collins, Big Jack et al. Small world. ;-)
  9. Hi, This seems to be a very strange thing to be happening, and not something that I have encountered, but I have used E&M for a repair and found them to be very good. As I recall the “inspection fee” came off the total price of the repair. Not only that, I understand that any repair they make should be guaranteed for at least 3 months. The best recourse would be to contact E&M to explain and discuss the situation with them. As the repair only lasted for 48 hours, then possibly the fault was misdiagnosed. Should that not be resolved, then if absolutely necessary, you could contact your local Trading Standards Office for a professional opinion on how to proceed from there. Hope this help/makes sense.
  10. Huh? What, even when that includes the shipping, diagnostics and guaranteed repair to something that’s bit if a pig to try and do yourself? This isn’t soldering a Jack plug onto a cable, so no, not really. Before I retired, I remember how much people used to grimace, and do the sharp intake of breath, when I told them how much I charged per hour. They either pay or don’t get the job done. How much is your time worth? Let the people who know what they’re doing get on with it and get it back with a warranty on the repair. What’s the other option - never use the joystick again? Is that you on the plinth outside Elland Road?
  11. Hi, I stumbled across this info a while back - not sure if it helps, I’m Mac based, but here ya go. USB DISCONNECTS Make sure your Helix is plugged in directly to the computer, no hubs or secondary connections. You could also try to deleting the interlock file for the driver. Here is where its located: Go to the interlock file. The path is: C:\ProgramData\Line 6\HelixInterlock Close the updater, delete HelixInterlock file and re-launch the app.

Dunno, maybe this! Or this - Tone Junkie IR freebies? more? https://fb.watch/4FiQLOsoj4/
  13. G’day mate, Well this is interesting - a Rack loaded with 1.06.5 - that must date back to possibly the first firmware update which added the “Safe Boot” option, to fix the issue on some units which would “hang” after the update. You say that you are constantly suffering from “connection interrupted” messages. This may be due to a slightly unstable internet connection - not sure how good your’s is. Anyhow, the easiest solution is to go for a “local install’, that way you are not relying on the network to deliver the package. You don’t mention what type of Operating Sytems you have on your “variety of newish and older laptops“, but no matter the routine is essentially the same.Hopefully the next firmware v.3.1 (due soon) should negate all this awkward installation process (or we’re all gonna be in a world of pain). O.K. Let’s go for this. You say that you have read through and tried all the suggestions posted here, but let’s just give this one more go around. You don’t mention what your computer and OS are, but I will guess Windows plus the same routine should be the same for Mac. Firstly go to the "DOWNLOADS" menu at the top of this page and from "-ALL HARDWARE-" select HELIX RACK then go to the "-ALL SOFTWARE-" menu item and select HX EDIT, now select your Windows system or Mac OSX from under the "-ALL OS-" tab, the click “GO”. From the next page you can select HX Edit 3.0 for your HELIX RACK . Then you will also need the Firmware 3.01 Flash Memory. On the page you will find the Line 6 Updater version 1.20 - you will need this too. Download all these items to your computer and note where they are. Then: Remove all the previously installed Line 6 software from your computer especially the Windows drivers and then restart your computer. Make sure to turn off the power to your RACK. Unplug the USB cable from the computer and HELIX RACK. Ensure that HX Edit is definitely closed and that you have your RACK reconnected to your PC by USB cable (do not use a hub, some front USB ports on PCs act like a hub) and hold down “ENC1 & ENC6” while turning the power on. (You may see a black screen, but keep going). Now, launch the Line 6 Updater Utility and select "Offline Mode". Your HELIX RACK and current firmware version should now show up in the window, click on the dark green coloured band and you should now have the option to select a local file - point it at the Flash Memory file you downloaded and let it get on with the update. When it completes you can install the new HX Edit v.3.0 software and you should be good to go. Here’s a list of reset options for the Rack unit. Helix Rack Since the rack doesn’t have footswitches, you’ll instead hold down a combination of the 6 encoders that are below the main LCD screen as you’re booting up. Button Combination Description ENC2 & ENC3 Reset globals ENC3 & ENC4 Restore stock presets and setlists ENC4 & ENC5 Restore stock presets, setlists, and IRs ENC5 & ENC6 Reset globals and restore presets, setlists, and IRs (entire factory restore) ENC1 & ENC3 Rebuild all presets ENC1 & ENC5 Clear all presets, setlists, and IRs ENC1 & ENC6 Will enter Update Mode (This feature is only available on firmware v1.06.5 and higher) No guarantees are given or implied, you do this at your own risk. If it doesn’t work, raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense
  14. Uh? What? Which? Where? Baffled!
  15. Hi, Yes, it once happened to me, and it need to be repaired. The most likely cause is a dry solder joint on the connections. This sort of thing is not unusual in electronic equipment - it just happens, no big deal. I booked In a repair for my Helix with the nearest (about 200 mile away) authorised Line 6 repair shop and it was solved really quickly and efficiently. About a week turn round and in the region of 100 GBP. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Hi, Precisely. The reason I gave the proposed scenario is simply because it already exists within the current hardware/software. The OP, stated that the situation of splitting amp and cab configuration was something they were experiencing quite a lot in “sound designing”. If that’s the case it simply comes down to a more considered workflow, especially as the separate amp and cab blocks do not use any more DSP than the combined blocks. It seems that Line 6 included the separate blocks so that users had the option to add blocks between, such as spring reverb and tremolo effects - similar to “real world” functionality. I wouldn’t regard that as a “downside”, rather more a bonus. Hope this helps/makes sense
  17. Hi, This forum is littered with posts about how to update, but hopefully the process is about to be improved with the next update to Firmware 3.1. due for release soon. Read, study and inwardly digest the information and then go ahead and update. Follow this procedure. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  18. Hi, Something similar to this came up recently, when someone wanted to use his HXFX patches in a HX Stomp. According to the published manuals this was not possible. It was then pointed out that the Preset files could be opened or you can drag and drop into HX Edit and then saved out the file to the Stomp. I guess the same would work in the opposite direction. Load the CustomTone patch into HX Edit and then strip out any Amp/Cab/IR blocks that cannot be used in the HXFX hardware. This theory is untested AFAIK, but it should work - the only thing you could lose is the time spent stripping out the unwanted stuff. There again - as Digital Igloo stated, and has been quoted many times (he may even have it on a t-shirt) - “All presets suck!”. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Hi, Well, you found this, obviously. but then - check the post from “rsvette12” in this post More here, In here - a 2017 comment from PeterHamm - a line 6 beta tester It’s not something that I ever needed to know, but hey - the truth is out there. I typed into the search box exactly what I told you - FBV3. Oh, yeah - lots of people seem to go for the Behringer FCB 1010 - lots of foot switches and 2 Expression pedals. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: Quick check on the Line 6 Product page gives a list of compatible hardware units - HX Native not listed as an option.
  20. Hi, Simply type “FBV3” into the Search option in the grey panel at the top right hand side of the HX Native main landing/postings page, and see what comes up. Hope this helps/makes sense
  21. Hi again, This is your second 5 years old thread resurrection for the Easter weekend - this could become a zombie thread apocalypse!
  22. Hi, FYI. This was discussing the stiffness in the Helix Floor onboard pedal movement. Not sure if you realise, but you have just made a post to a thread that has been dormant for 5 years.
  23. Hi, You mentioned a Mission pedal, which I don’t use, but there is mention of a Mission pedal that uses a toe switch which even when set in the Globals, still returns to zero. Not sure if this is the issue you are experiencing- check near the end of this thread - post from “line6ujevn”. https://line6.com/support/topic/19373-switching-wah-on-off/?tab=comments#comment-378310 Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. These things do - and this guy uses it with a HX Stomp. Or this one, which is a little less money - Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. Hi, Mmm... they wouldn't be my first choice for use with any Helix, but each to their own. My wife has some Bose QC 3 things she uses to listen to stuff while she is working in the garden. I seem to be regularly buying replacement cables for the darn things, and the battery packs are constantly plugged into the wall charger. My preference is Audio Technica ATH-M50X, which are something of a studio staple. Good move to contact support, because if there is a serious fault with the headphone amp on the Stomp XT, at least now they will be aware of it. Good luck
