  1. Well, if that’s what you were trying for. O.K. You’re starting with a stereo effect, Ping Pong. You have to remember that all 4 possible paths in Helix are stereo. When the “Y Split” is added down onto path 2 it is going from one stereo path to another, therefore both sides of the split need to be panned fully left and right. Likewise on the “merge” you need to ensure the path are panned hard left 100 and right 100. Personal preference for me is big, bold, swirly stereo FX, more the merrier, but hey, whatever.
  2. Here ya go, Really quick and dirty basic set up - play around with the idea. See how far you can take it. PingPongSplit.hlx
  3. Hi, I don't think that is possible. The the MIDI implementation chart on Page 47 of the manual show that CC Toggle can only set the Dim and Lit value for the footswitches. As you are already aware, changing the colour of the LED ring does not change the screen display in either mode. The colour of the performance blocks are relative to whatever effect is being used in the regular signal flow view. Line 6 have decided to use a familiar colour coding for specific types of effects which are common throughout the HX product range and also in the effect listing used in the manuals. For example all Distortion blocks are Orange, Dynamic/EQ are Yellow, Modulation are Blue and so forth. I would think the icon display colours will be "hard coded" into the unit and not editable. I realise changing the colour display would sometimes be an advantage , but in the owners manual on Page 39, under the section about customising a "Snapshot Color", it recommends leaving it set to "Auto Color". Likewise, on Page 43, the same advice is given about "Customizing a Footswitch Color. They let you change things, but prefer you don't. There is something off a workaround to this if you have multiple FX on one footswitch and you want to change the colour. Probably not what you really need to achieve, but here's the link anyhow - see last comment in the thread. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. That was exactly the worry I had about anyone who was touring and needed to access the internet from somewhere in a blackspot. If its a case of "once loaded you're good to go", that's fine.
  5. Ooh, that could be a bundle of fun for someone doing live gigs - if that ever comes back! I suppose that will require anyone using the DRM style IRs to have a laptop on stage with them?
  6. Hi, A quick “heads up”. You will have to get in line, along with all those other people who have peppered this forum with the same request. Could take a while. Hope this helps/makes sense
  7. A little late there bro, check the date on DI’s post. Somebody resurrected this thread a couple of days back. ;-)
  8. Sure thing. When you take that $400 plugin and stick it in a solid metal case with a whole bunch of audio connection hardware, capacitive foot switches and an expression pedal, then the price goes up by x4. It’s called Helix, so what you regard as a plugin is a hell of a lot more! That would explain the price tag, it’s the “brain” behind this stuff. Could be waiting some time. Good luck.
  9. Hi, FYI Yes, it's active, but it doesn't look like anyone is selling at the moment. You missed the last one by a couple of days, could be a while before another one comes up. Hope this helps/makes sense
  10. Hi Elliott, If you want to do this without any costs by investing in some extra kit, you will simply need to do a little re-patching of the stuff you already have. Assuming you have got the track basics down to where you want them, i.e. Drums, Bass, Guitars and Keyboards etc. You can capture the vocal using the mic and your Focusrite interface. You don’t say which Focusrite you are using, but I’m going to guess that it is a Scarlett model. You need to connect your SubZero monitors to the Focusrite for playback of all your tracks (select it as the interface in your DAW), but you should hook up some cans to the phones socket on the front to listen to a guide mix while laying down the vocal, with the speakers turned off. Once you have a good vocal down you can mess around with it as much as you like. Obviously this about as basic as it gets. Quick and dirty, but give it whirl. Shame your LT doesn’t have the mic inputs like the Helix floor. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Yep, it sure is, but are you happier now that you have found it would be quite difficult to clip you HXFX box after reading Phil’s comments in that link I posted? Mmm... hope you don’t think we are all sissies in here, young man?
  12. Short answer - no. Firmware 2.90 notes. Signal Present/Clip Indicators (Helix Floor, Helix Rack/Control, Helix LT, HX Stomp) To ease your concern see the reply from “phil_m” in this old post about this subject: Hey! I just realised you are that young whippersnapper that told us you were scared of high tech and updates! Now you’re proclaiming you have been a Fractal AX8 user for years. Right! Kinnel.
  13. Ah, ah - I spotted those 2 XLRs on the rear panel - good point.
  14. How about this one - better frequency response an looks like a FRFR cab more than the one in your post. Lower cost too! I realise it is not stereo, but what sort of stereo image would you get out of that box? Stereo needs a little more space to be really effective. (Don’t mention Roland JC) https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_frfr_112a_guitar_dsp_monitor.htm Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Hi Felix, I am slightly confused by your question, “Is it possible to use HX effects with Garageband?” If you are referring to “HX Effects”, the hardware unit - that particular piece of kit is not designed to act as a USB audio device in the way the HX Stomp does. You can discover this by reading through the user manuals for each, which have diagrams of various setups. Only the Stomp shows connecting to a computer as a USB interface. Although, theoretically you could use the HX Effect hardware to process your audio into a third party mixer/interface to record on your Mac. Also, bear in mind that the HX Stomp unit additionally contains all the amp and cab model and has the ability to load IR cab profiles. Later in your post you do mention HX Native, which a software and designed specifically to work as a VST/Audio Units plug in. It works in most DAWs available, including GarageBand. It has the same functionality as the full blown Helix Floor or Rack units - every amp, cab, and effect and possibly more, depending on your computers “muscle”. Download the HX Native Trial version - fully functional for 15 days. Check here for how to find HX Native when installed in GarageBand on your Mac. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. I have just been in the studio for an hour and messed around doing the same thing except I set the delay to 3 seconds 100% in the centre, and then 66% 100 right, and 33% 100Left. Damn crazy stuff, there when you crank up the feedback. Good fun, only now I have go back in the house - I need to eat! L8R
  17. Here ya go Stephen, Load this into your Helix and modify to suit by using the gain block suggested by “codamedia” if required. It’s simply somewhere to start. https://line6.com/customtone/tone/1802464/ Have fun.
  18. Is this not possible to do using a Multi-Tap 6 delay within Helix. This allows for up to 4 seconds delay where 6 taps can be added at varying percentages of the base delay time, they can also be panned up to 100% left or right, zero being centre. Set the base time at 600ms and divide the others to suit. I guess you could use only 3 of the 6 “taps” by turning the others off (i.e. turn down the level), and pan them accordingly, or go crazy by using all 6. I’m not in the studio right now, so I am unable to check the theory. Also, I would only be using studio monitors, therefore I’m unsure how it would work on a WDW setup. If you have delays going out left, right and centre doesn’t that mean all outputs are regarded as “wet”? Just a thought, I wouldn’t know.
  19. Well, there you have it guys, over 40% of the juice on a single path. As someone once said, “You really should be careful what you wish for.” Stand by for more bellyaching and gripes.
  20. I am constantly baffled by people who buy into a relatively modern, high tech piece of equipment, and then expect it communicate with obsolete gear. Support for XP ended in 2009, Helix was released into the world June 11, 2015 - six years later! I know they say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, but seriously, you’re expecting backward compatibility for something 11 years out of date? Hope this makes sense
  21. Well, I would imagine that poly pitch shifting is going to be a hungry beast. For example, many folks on here ask why the Helix reverbs are not as polished and/or complex as those in the Strymon Big Sky box? That’s because to create those sounds it takes the same amount of DSP as a single one of the 2 chips in the Helix. If it comes to the choice of losing half of the Helix to a single reverb effect, or plugging an external unit int the stereo FX loop, then I would buy a unit dedicated to doing that one job alone. Because so many users have requested poly pitch to be added, it seems like it is about to happen, but at what cost in DSP remains to be seen. Hope it doesn’t push some things over the edge, but whatever happens it must be a trade off against other FX.
  22. Hi Fremen, There is a post here about this issue and it seems the fix is a reinstall of the firmware, and to follow the install instructions exactly. Something may have been accidentally overlooked during the remote install. Hope this helps/makes sense. link:
  23. Uh? No such thing! Are you sure that you know what a Helix is?
  24. My Helix floor unit has never ever lived on the floor, it is located on a stand at just the right height for me to reach out and touch and make adjustments on the fly. The touch sensitive foot switches have fingertip response to change anything that needs modifying, as shown in the Sean Halley video. Touch the switch to select it, for example a delay, then use the 6 black knobs below the screen to edit. It all works just fine for my workflow, but as I’m a “studio rat” - YMMV.
