Hi, The answer that @rd2rk provided is correct, BUT that customisation option is only available on Helix Floor, Rack and LT units. When seeking assistance from other users, it’s advisable to specify which device you’re using - it’s a big help, and avoids confusion. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Yes - you bought a unit that doesn’t work! My guess - hardware issue, needs a technician to repair it. Hope this helps/makes sense.

can you disable the MODE Edit/Exit footswitch on the HX stomp XL?
datacommando replied to spudmurphy's topic in Helix
Hi, Hmm… not that I’m aware of. I guess other users are possibly slightly more accurate with FS pressing - I would simply advise caution “in the heat of battle”. Sorry! Hope this helps/makes sense -
You should know better than to dream. You follow the stuff on TGP and there is no indication from DI (other than Soon!), and Frank has not posted any control tower messages for a long, long time. :-)

Hahaha, yup, we’re very old guys, but I got an eye test just last week and mine have no changes to my prescription. It’s great to know that at the wrong side of 70, I can still see my feet. ;-)

Hi, You will notice that when you restart your HX Stomp/ HXFX it will go through a "Rebuilding Presets" routine. This is normal, as there was another update in the Helix Core engine at v.3.50, and it brings all your presets into line with the current operating system. The "Rebuilding Presets" will occur every time you add any preset created with an earlier version of the firmware, it's just general "housekeeping" for the hardware unit and to be expected. Glad you managed to fix the issue. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, again, O.K. as you stated in your original post - "Here we go again". This “walk through” fix it solution (see below) was put together almost a year ago, but the technique is the same for any failed update. Why this "fix it" was never pinned to the first page is beyond me - but hey - here ya go! A couple of things to remember while following the instructions - any reference to Firmware, HX Edit and Updater version numbers need to be the very latest available. NOTE: You may want to read the current 3.60 Release Notes before commencing the update. Remember - DON’T PANIC! Hope this helps/makes sense.
-
Hi, You didn’t mention what version of the Firmware you are trying to update from? Anyhow, if you’re trying to update to v.3.60 using a version of HX Edit 3.0, or earlier, you need to update your HX Edit to the latest version. See the Firmware 3.60 Release Notes here - (also linked from the Firmware download page). EDIT: This is quite old now, but the instructions are still valid. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Easy to miss - It was hidden in the body of the text in the post. You just require the example .hlx preset now. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, RE: HELIX DRIVER FOR MAC OS - From the Line6 Helix Driver 2 v.1.5.0 released October 2021 download page. ”This driver adds support for Apple Silicon systems (M1 and greater). This driver is for macOS 11 Big Sur (Intel/Apple Silicon) and greater. For macOS Catalina or earlier, please use driver 1.1.0. This driver provides sample rate conversion for 44.1kHz, 88.2kHz and 96kHz operation. For 48kHz operation, we recommend using the Mac class compliant driver. Installation of this driver will require lowering your system security settings. Please click here for installation instructions.” If you’re on the download page and click the link it reveals this info: Hope this helps/makes sense.

Laptop reset halfway through an update ... I now have a dead Helix

Hi, This “walk through” fix it solution (see below) was put together almost a year ago, but the technique is the same for any failed update. A couple of things to remember while following the instructions - any reference to Firmware, HX Edit and Updater version numbers need to be the very latest available. NOTE: You said you have tried updating your Helix “for the first time since I bought it back in 2018”. You didn’t mention what version of the Firmware you had installed, but it must have been prior to v.2.80 (released 2019). I mention this because with v.2.80, there was a major change to the Core engine of the Helix, which caused many users think they had “bricked” their unit when it seemed to have failed halfway through the process. There was a similar update to the Core at v.3.50 and the Release Notes mention the update could take in excess of 30 minutes. You may want to read the current 3.60 Release Notes before commencing the update. Remember - DON’T PANIC! Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, This is happening more and more, and is increasingly irritating. It appears to be fairly obvious how to attach a .hlx file to a post. If this is user error, fine, they need to take more care - if not then the site admin needs to fix the server settings.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen! As noted by @rd2rk in the post above, Digital Igloo has a $500 bet on this, over on TGP, and he is the man who would know. Far too much still in progress for this version of Helix products. Judging from the threads over on TGP, users are waiting for the version 3.7 Firmware to drop, then v.4.0 should follow on from that. Plus if there was anything more in the pipeline, they won’t tell anyone here, or anywhere else, until it’s ready to launch. Then you will know for sure. Speculation is just speculation, and totally pointless, because Line 6 sure as hell are not going to reveal any potential new device to their competitors. I bought my Helix floor back in 2015 for what it could do then, and Line 6 still keeps adding to it. You could waste your life waiting for the next big thing coming down the road. Hope this helps/makes sense. Check this thread from 2019 asking the same question as you - 7 pages of fun and games!

Yep, what @brue58ski said in the post above - easy as. Plus, for anyone who would like even more control over their tuning capability, it also has “Offsets”, that can be used to help correct inherent tuning issues exhibited by many instruments, or specifically, ones that use the Buzz Feiten tuning system. Hope this helps/makes sense.

No one need ever know that your predictive text had messed with your posts. If you ever need to edit a spelling error, or anything else in your post, you can click on the 3 small grey dots above your post and select “Edit” from the drop down menu. Hope this helps/makes sense. ;-)

In reply to your double post! This guy seem to have Helix work fine with a DT50. Another longer one. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Above and beyond the call of duty, Sir! Excellent.

Hi, In a way you’ve managed to answer your own question with this comment - “I have seen a few YouTube demonstrations and the guys do appear to be getting good, chunky guitar sounds, so I don't know what I did wrong.” As you mention the sound of a Marshall JCM800, I will point you to this blog from Digital Igloo (Eric Klein), as the 800 is used as his opening example. https://blog.line6.com/2023/09/15/eric-klein-at-least-half-of-your-modelers-sound-is-determined-by-your-playback-system/ That’s the second time today that I have had to point someone to this article. Hope it helps/makes sense.

All valid points, including replying to a post from 2017 - somebody resurrected this thread that had quietly slipped away in it’s sleep way back in 2020.

Hi, All the Helix products have MIDI ports for IN, OUT/THRU. MIDI control is not extensive, but it does function for most situations. Having said that, you have confused me by now adding a question about MIDI control from a DAW such as ”Cubase or other musical engine... ”. If you have a Helix Rack that you want to use in a live situation, but also require MIDI control from a DAW, then why not simply use Helix Native. If you are a registered owner of a Helix Rack, then you should be eligible for a discount on Helix Native, (you may need to verify that). Knowing exactly what you want to achieve with what equipment in what situation would be a very big help. Plus, as it is 5 months since you original post - how important is this? Hope this helps/makes sense.

Unbearbable 8k ringing noise from helix. any solution???

Yep, I had also noticed that they do appear to be very similar, almost identical, boxes with different branding. It seems to be quite common with a lot of products made in the Orient. Buyer beware. -
For anyone familiar with using Helix midi commands on BeatBuddy

Hi, I’m not sure if you have already checked this info from the Singular Forum, it even has a contribution from @DunedinDragon. https://forum.singularsound.com/t/finally-figured-out-helix-control-of-beat-buddy-functions/25399 Hope this helps/makes sense. -
