I'm letting my ego get the better of me Time to learn some humility :)
-
Ok I accept that feedback
-
I apologise then if that's how I'm coming across I do feel there is a very patronising tone taken here and that's what provokes me However I have no desire to escalate a discussion into an argument which in restrospect I guess I'm doing This isn't my first multiFX line 6 device and I've got 30 years plus and thousands of gigs worth of experience. I like to be honest about the pluses and minuses of any equipment We should appreciate there are limitations and not be dismissive of them
-
Read it again with the knowledge I'm covering a Bon Jovi songIs it really what you meant?
-
I'm clearly aware there are limitations. I'm not sure why you feel the need to point it out especially in such a patronising manner That's what provokes a reaction from me I've been pushing the limits of technology for the last 30 years. There are always limitations. Am I not allowed to talk about them?

Iron Maiden have 3 guitarist I still am able to use the Helix to do a more than passable version of the trooper Kiss have 2 guitarist but I use the Harmoniser and the momentary switches to switch keys and allow me to do the harmonies to Detroit rock city If Line6 had the attitude of not stretching expectations we wouldn't even have had a pod much less a Helix I seem to be misaligned as someone who things patch switching silence is a deal break that needs fixed It's not I have plenty of workarounds. There is just that one scenario which could be fixed that would really help me out Am I expecting too much? I don't think so but I'm pushing the technology ... That's how progress is made
-
What in the world are you talking about? That's typical of the zero empathy smart arse answers that don't actually move anything along here. I'd also love to have the bands lighting rig, road crew and stage setup but I don't so we are talking about what I have now and how that can be improved The band in question is Bon Jovi (you may have heard of them) Yes they do it live with two guitarists and a keyboard player I'm able to do a passable version live with the advent of the great new technology available to me I'd be able to do it live without a jarring gap when I switch from the acoustic model to the electric model for the solo, if either There was some kind of delay spillover or Some way of switching the variax models without having to go to another patch (which I know can be done.. It just hasn't been) In summary I'm glad I can do the track but with a few tweaks it would be even better I doubt Ritchie Sambora is a Helix user ..
-
I appreciate the path but I specifically need to go from the variax 12 string model to the les paul model and then change a bunch of presets It's for 'wanted dead or alive'
-
To me the obvious way round is to have the delay spillover If the looper can persist from patch to patch with no break then why not a delay? Its 90% of the time not an issue for me unless I'm using the variax I need to be able to switch between my acoustic patch and my electric patch quickly for a couple of songs and that's where it punishes me
-
Me too It's my always in effect
-
I don't particularly if you are running a mac

It's really difficult when you are so intent in having a rant that you aren't listening to what I'm trying to say If you would take a deep breath for 10 seconds you might realise that *I* don't have a problem with patch changes mid song as that's not how I use the device. My patches have all my soundsets in a single place so switching between patches isn't something I ever do mid song. But thanks for the massive lecture .. I'm not "wringing my hands over milliseconds" or what ever ridiculous hyperbole you put in my mouth You seem happy that you're current approach is winning you hearts and minds .. by all means carry on and good luck. Personally I think all you do in these situation is wade in with no empathy at all and wind people up but if that is what you are going for then go nuts. I'm off to the gear page to talk about how accurate the tuner is...
-
Never then Believe it or not I am trying to help you here If someone is having an issue switching between patches your pedantic approach about how many ms isn't going to cut it. You seem to forget I've demonstrated for people many different ways to achieve the same goal without going to different patches.. But you'd rather wind people up about how many ms it is. If it's a noticeable gap then the actual number of ms only matters to you No-one else And people aren't going to be swayed by 'misinformation' over whether its 500ms or 290 ms What they want to know is 'is there a noticeable drop out or gap' There is . There are lots of good reasons for it but don't think you can prove that it isn't there with Arithmetic
-
When are you going to learn DI that arguing the milliseconds is the wrong approach here?
-
Another dead Mic input ....
-
Exactly how I run Just have my split after the looper before the cab I then run into the fx loop ins of a couple of amps
-
The only way I can test it is by potentially burning it another board Since it took over two weeks to get it back last time ... Does anyone with an account on The Gear Page want to ask anyone their if they are having problems. It's a bigger audience
-
Exactly what happened to me Big Ralph The burning is a major concern Would you like to know if the input board that replaces it works any better So would I but no-one will tell us... I hate this tight lipped bollocks Here is clearly a problem ... Fine stuff happens I'm interested in HAS THIS BEEN FIXED?
-
I've had mine back from a repair Still concerned about it because in typical Line6 fashion there is no information on whether or not this is a systemic problem or if there has been an updated board For all I know the process is to just keep replacing I/O boards as they blow at 3 weeks down time a pop. So I'll ask, but keep my expectations low for an honest answer Is there a problem with the I/O boards pertaining to the Mic input? Is anything being fixed when these boards are repaired? I personally think this is a wider problem but because the majority of people haven't plugged phantom powered mics in yet it isn't wildly reported But that's only my theory. I'm sure many others will pop up in the resulting vacuum of information
-
I use mine on a pedal train The extra angle isn't offensive
-
I've got mine back and gigged it All fine but I haven't actually had a chance to try the mic input yet (I'm almost scared to) I've had flu Last I heard Rafa had moved back there I've not seen him for over 20 years but I'm pretty sure he'll remember us :) I wouldn't be over stressed about lubing my own wah wah or bending the knob back but really you shouldn't have to I would get a bit of nut sauce on the end of a guitar string and see if I couldn't do it that way

Does the Helix have Bluetooth built in for a possible blue tooth app?
fukuri replied to Marcpattison's topic in Helix
I edit my FX8 and my Amplifire with my surface pro on a music stand and it works just fine but then that is a top end tablet No reason why the cheaper ones shouldn't be able to handle the helix editor when it comes out -

Something like this with a micro usb to usb adaptor would be perfectly serviceable You could keep your lyrics on it too... http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/linx-1010b-10-1-tablet-32-gb-black-10138450-pdt.html -

It's worth reminding people that you can get pretty cheap Windows tablets with USB ports if this really is a want of yours
