  1. Im not getting it. Bet most people couldn't tell if I posted clips up and asked if the settings were A or B :)
  2. I kind of get where you are coming from It's the lack of separation between pre amp and power amp where you would normally insert stuff But with the Helix effectively you can put effects after the amp model and it does more or less the same thing Or you can put choruses and delays on a parallel signal path which sounds great and very clean With all the routing options having an effect loop in the amp models would just confuse an already challenging system
  3. I've got to say I'm still reeling at the idea of Yamaha being considered unreliable! I still see tons of studios and live installations with 02rs in them The guitars are epic. I've got an SA2200 that (with a change of pickups) is arguably the best thing I own (and I have 60 plus high end guitars) I've used the Motif Synths the Sy synths the DX line. The i88x and 01x audio recording kit, the MSP monitors. The DG and AG stomp. My piano is a Clavinova I can't actually recall ever buying a bad Yamaha product or indeed one ever breaking on me
  4. Am I the only one who doesn't think they make any noticeable difference then?
  5. Yup I've got 6 assignments on one pedal to switch off the amps and cabs and switch on the Leslie etc
  6. there is no spillover which is why I mention it. It completely cuts the signal so basically you have to work it into a gap in the song. How long it cuts for depends on how big the patch is but you should be aware of it. I certainly wouldn't like to do it in between songs. For me I build patches that have 3 basic tones . Clean crunchy and filthy and work my effects around that core but I only change patches when I have a gap
  7. Or use a clean amp and a couple of drives. Thats what I do and its very useable. There are no rules that say you must have a distorted amp model for a driven sound :)
  8. Thanks for the answer :) Funny Every Yamaha thing I've ever bought has been epically reliable (apart from their amps but then there weren't a lot of them) This is still a line 6 product but your concerns are duly noted I know what you are saying about access to patches without scrolling. I only hope you aren't planning to change any of them mid song...
  9. Just one question Why the external MIDI controller?
  10. Assign the output block to the exp pedal and set it heel 0db and toe 6db for a lot of solo boosting option If you use the same drive on multiple patches remember if you edit in one you can copy that block and paste it to many patches
  11. Trial and error but that is the control I also put a 0-6db sweep on the expression pedal for solo boosting (which is quite a lot but you don't need to go all the way and it good to have if you need it)
  12. I have ... It has actually been a bit shoddy. Because I'm not the original purchase I can't go to Andertons so I was directed by Line 6 to their authorised repair centre Some bloke answers the phone and tells me to stick it in a box and courier it to them and they'll fix it under warranty Don't know how long it will take because it depends on the parts. No RMA no ticket reference. I'm assuming I should write a description of what's wrong and put it in the box but there doesn't seem to be any tracking or any decent looking process Maybe it will all work fine but I've got to say it's not filling me with confidence
  13. I don't think it's common to push them into a super clean amp What gives these types of pedal their "transparancy" is an internal blend with the unclipped signal The most prominent pedal I have that does this is a free the tone Giggs Boson. It's actually quite jarring at first but stacked it is one of the nicest pedals you'll hear If you want a bit more hair on it stack with a fuzz based circuit like the Vermin or a full on over drive like the tube driver One of the great things about the helix is you don't have to spend years and fortunes on buying patching testing repatching testing repatching etc different pedal/amp combos One of the down sides though is there is a fair amount of learning involved in doing that .. But the Helix allows you to do it in a single consequence free environment :)
  14. They reckon my mic amp has failed so it needs to go back to the repair centre Not entirely sure why I'm picking up the courier bill for this. It's not me that made a product with a fault 10 days plus though so I need to schedule between gigs It sucks but hopefully it's an easy fix
  15. I don't know the real Timmy pedal but a lot of overdrives do this King of tone Dod 250 even the tubescreamer gives you a bit of dry signal too Way round it is to use a different model or Push it into a dirtier amp Or stack another overdrive into it
  16. Sorry I misunderstood you Yes it is what it is you can at least see the block highlighted ?
  17. You can assign it to whichever order you like and rename and recolour each switch even if it is for two instances of the same effect You need to spend a little bit of quality time with the manual my friend or any of the many many videos demonstrating how to assign footswitches You can change almost everything to suit your self
  18. It worked fine I unplugged and replugged and now it doesn't It smacks very much of a hardware fault The mics and cables work fine every where else and the template I use works fine with other inputs
  19. I'm not sure what you are talking about Maybe you can't see what is going on I have one switch that toggles between crunch and high gain if it is on or clean and high gain if it is off That way I don't have to have 3 individual settings and I don't accidentally put the high gain on top of the crunch So I toggle between clean and high gain with one footswitch Or I toggle between crunch and high gain with one footswitch Or I toggle between clean an crunch with one footswitch I also have the pitch whammy, the Klon always on, a phaser a chorus a flanger a dual delay and a reverb a and a dual cab block I've run out of footswitches before I've run out of DSP What more do you want I'll post my patch up when I get near a computer
  20. Did you get s resolution to this It's just happened to me
  21. Here's another one stepping through the changes

    Leslie issue

  24. As someone who has similar experience in IT you must have missed all the sans and blade chassis I've seen bricked by bad firmware updatesAs you should know. It's impossible to account for ever single permutation. And IBM, HP, Microsoft and Apple have VASTLY more resources for doing this kind of thing and they still have issues like this with Firmware (we lost a couple of surfaces last week with Firmware updates). I don't think it's as boggling as you do to be honest
