Have you tried a Helix OS update yet? That might fix your issues. Software can get buggered even in the space shuttle. ;)
-
Im not surprised. I just have another work flow process that uses the editor more. It takes me twice as long to do adjustments on Helix. As always and I say again, YMMV... :D The freeze up may be related to USB, but the Helix and not the Mac on my end freezes. Why are you not using the PC to store patches? Its nice to have a way to import the patches I like when needed. My Helix does not freeze up ever storing patches, only when I move sliders in the editor. Then, nothing on Helix seems to work except the power button.

You will have a few that agree with this statement, but I use the "hell" outta my editor. I wish they would add a tuning button so I don't have to move away from the Mac... :P
-
So you bought the Axe FX to back up Helix eh? ;)
-
My editor will freeze up on my Mac, but what ive found is that its not the software, but Helix itself has frozen and unresponsive to commands either from the editor or from the front panel. So far, a power reboot of Helix has fixed it. Since it doesn't happen often, Im not too concerned yet... (yet)....

If you modify some ones patch, give the credit and state that its your mod on their patch. Done. That took about 7 secs (Im a slow typer)...

Thanks, nice to read Helix is playing well with the DT series!

Re-installing Firmware for Helix Foot Controller
spikey replied to HillsideDeafener's topic in Helix
You probably could reload the the latest software in Helix and then once its done switch on the controller to reload its OS. But why would you need to? Whats up with your foot controller? -
Yes the Vetta has many cab IR's/models via software along with the Amps in its OS.
-
You can adjust the switch height via the nut (on my Mission pedal). I did mine and its very easy to switch now.
-
No I didnt try that yet. IIRC the Vetta II's 12" speakers were supposed to be tone neutral, so when you did add a cab it sounded like the amp modeled. I just set the vetta to no amps or Cabs and used Helix with amps, cabs and mics and it sounded pretty good. I will try to do this with just the amp in Helix, on the vetta II and let the vetta speakers be the cab. Sometime this week.

Yep sounds like it GM. In fact I just spent an hour rocking out on "Smoke on the Water" with the Park amp setup in Helix thru a Vetta II amp (using it as a monitor only).

Id have to wait until the year 2250 to get a L6 branch close to the Texas Panhandle, sigh... Hey sounds like lotsa fun, hope you learn a lot!

I had the Ultra, the Axe FX II, and then the updated XL+. I still own my Kemper, and I now of course have Helix. I love um all... I sold my last Axe FX XL+ cause it was the only way I thought id ever try anything else. I play mostly blues rock and know what good tone sounds like. 46 years + playing. Kemper is wonderful and great tone full of sweet stuff! But the bottom line for me is Helix tones are to "die" for. Best of both worlds for me! :D

Once I got all adjusted (amps and cabs off) and figured out after reading the manual the the "loop" light needed to be on, Helix and my old Vetta II played very very well together! 1/4" outs on Helix to the stereo return on the Vetta II. I used a 1/4" open ended dummy plug on the Vetta's guitar in as directed in the other post. Good tones from Helix and the Vetta II with fender and Marshall amps and Helix Cabs, and "plenty" of volume. More than I could use in this small room for sure. I now have a new reason for keeping this old forgotten "flagship" Line 6 amp. It sounds really good pairing with Helix to me. Thanks again ! :D B)

Diddo! They hit this one outta the park!

Thanks for the idea. I ran across this thread after you mentioned it Roscoe5, and thought Id give it a try. Will report later. I assume that the dummy plug mentioned was just an open ended 1/4" guitar male...

So you are running helix into the amp, and then into a 2x12 cabinet, and a 4x12 cabinet? And then you are turning on cabs inside Helix too? The amp models alone should sound better if thats what you are doing. Maybe I didnt understand, Please explain your signal path again...?

hideout, in order to make things play nice together after the patch, Helix requires a reset/rebuild of the factory patches by holding down a couple of buttons and turing power on. This also clears out the user banks iirc. That (right now) is why presets are not in the same order as you may have left them. If you saved your presets and set lists, then its just a matter of replacing them in the order you choose. I agree it would be easy if the update remembers what we had beforehand. What is, and what should be are always different in most cases. ;)

Yea my Vetta is gathering dust too and has been for a while now. I use my Helix for audio out guitar sounds only. Others here can help you greatly with using it via an audio interface. You will love it tone wise. :)

We need something like "Cab Lab" for Helix!
-
Since Im just staring to play with a few IR's, I think I will just number them and place them in the same folder. Starting simply with #1, #2, etc etc. in front of every IR (with the identifer as to what they are suppose to be after). This way even if I have to manually put them back they will always be in the order they go back, and marked for easy finding. Edited: I found out fast that this idea only works well if you are using 20 or so IR's. A hundred or so would become very cumbersome. So Im thinking why not have some good hearted smart neat'o programmer like Fractal got to do their "Cab Lab" software, only for Helix? Just Run it along side the Helix editor and just swap out, add to and mix IR's on the fly per patch!!! Find the one you want and then save it.. Easy peezy... Any software gurus out there like to take this on? Im sure you would have a audience. ;)

And as you are lying on your deathbed many years later, remembering that 59 Les paul you could have had for a song, whiles relatives now come out of the woodwork to fight over your abundant wealth... ;)

OK thanks. I was thinking "true digital responses" or some such lol... :P
