The last two new products from Line 6 rely on IOS for added functionality. Amplifi and Sonic Port VX with Sonic port also having PC compatibility. Also if you look at Sonic Ports USB its an Apple type hardware interface (such as the chargers on the new Iphone etc.) Thats not surprising that they would focus on one operating system for parallel development. The "hope" would be that at some point there will be at least some cross platform capability for the Amplifi. I like the Amplifi a lot (I have the Amplifi 75) that I only use as a monitor/practice amp running an HD500x into. I do notice some Blu Tooth stuttering out of my Android device which does not happen with my other blu tooth spkrs. From the forums supposedly there is an update, however it is only available via the IOS app. And for some reason even that is only supported by Ipad, Itouch, and Iphone and not even MAC. (That is unless I have missed something obvious) Interesting enough there are platform emulators available for MAC to run Windows so I wonder if there are any IOS emulators for Android to run IOS apps. That would certainly be a step forward to solving the problem for Android users

My 75 definitely is in stereo for both blu tooth and off of my HD 500x as I can definitely tell the pan I use in some of my dual amp setups because I specifically tested fort his in the store prior to purchase. BUT this is going through the 1/8 jack in the back. I can't make any claims about the stereo emulation of the effect amps etc from the Amplifi internally.

Sorry that you are upset Mikey333, like you I own many Line 6 products (AX212, PODXT Live, POD X3 Live (2), POD HD500 (2), POD HD500x, VAx 700, VAC700, JTV59, JTV 89F, and recently an Amplifi 75) and I am also an Android operating system guy and I am looking to update my Amplifi because of some annoying blu tooth issues. I agree it's frustrating but to claim that Line 6 somehow has no customer loyalty to their pc customer base is slightly over the top. But I don't see how they are going to add the capability even for USB flashing if you have to have an IOS operating system to update it to get that capability.

If I do not own an IOS device how am I supposed to update the Amplifi Drivers? I suspect at some point the USB port? But that doesn't help me now. Anybody know a work around via Android?

New to JTV - and not impressed

Depending if you have an HD500 you may want to try the VDI route as it can also change your guitar emulation for you along with amp set-up. It does sound like you got a bad one. I have both a 59 and 89F and they have behaved flawlessly. -
Yeah a skip would be a better term

I am in a prog band that my keyboard player does most of the writing. Every once in awhile he decides to change the original key of a song after I and the rest of the band have learned it. In one instance, a song that relied on open chords was change down a full step. To keep the open chords I used the down full step preset on the tuning knob and it sounded and worked very well.

I have noticed some stuttering in the Blu tooth signal being sent to the Amplifi when streaming from my phone. I do not hear this with my Bose blu tooth spkr and was wondering if anybody else has experienced this problem?
-
I had the same experience except for I specifically went out to purchase the amplifi 75 watt version as an emergency stage monitor for HD500x and have been very happy.
-
Well as a final follow up I grabbed the Amplifi and have been quite happy with it and how it sounds with the HD500x
-
I will be picking up an Ampiifi with the sole purpose of it being a back monitor onstage for those crappy club monitor system moments. Also having the blu tooth capability also works well at band rehearsals.

I think it depends what you are trying to do. An HD500x into any of the Line 6 Stagesource systems has the most versatility/controllability. But that being said (I have not used the FX100 but have been using an HD500x direct into a PA for quite some time. I have also recorded two albums direct from the floor board) the HD500x has frustrated some users with not being able to dial in a good sound quickly (At least "quickly" to their tastes) so that unit may be overkill for what you are trying to do.

I just did a test at Guitar Center between the 75 watt Ampifi and the iLoud (40W). This was just a blu tooth test I need some extra monitoring on stage for the guitar alone and both of these seemed like good candidates. The Amplifi sound very good with detectable stereo spread and good bass response and good headroom. The Iloud also sounded very clear but not as loud (as expected). Both units have certain advantages over the other for my specific application so I am still deciding which unit I will purchase. I need to go back wit my HD500x and really put the screws to both of these.

Managed to ge down to Guitar Center and test both the Ampifi and the ILoud systems. Very impressed with the sound of both with the Amplifi having plenty of power and would work well as an onstage monitor or Blu tooth sound source. ILoud was pretty impressive but not quote as loud (75 watts vs 40 w) but extremely portable and battery powered. This would end up being mounted on the mike stand vs standard monitor or backline position for the amplifi Decisions, Decisions. Thanks for all of the input

Thanks for the input guys!

Thought I would post this here in the Amplifi section. I am looking for a backup stage monitor for clubs that have lets say less than good coverage with their monitors. (Meaning they have none) typically I will run my hd500x directly to the board and than fold back through whatever monitor system. In this case I may not have that choice. I know that running a hd500x into the Amplifi is not the optimal solution and I would not be using any of the guitar emulations but I was wondering if anyone thought output of the 75 watt version would be loud enough onstage for monitoring guitar signal? Any input would be greatly appreciated. The optimal would be an L2m but it seems to b a little overkill for what I want to do.

POD HD500X, JTV-69, and Variax 700 bass sound clip.
Leftzilla replied to ChristianArnold's topic in POD HD
Wow I really like that guitar tone, I did not pick up the clipping that hurghanico did but he may have a much more discernible ear than I do. Could I get a copy of that patch? -
HD Pro - any workarounds for delay when changing patches?
Leftzilla replied to ChristopherDuncan's topic in POD HD
I use a HD500x with a JTV59 and 89F in an original Prog Band and I actually change patches and guitar emulations two or 3 times within a song. Prior to the latest update there was and issue with popping noise during patch changes but I never noticed an appreciable lag when changing patches and some of the cues have to be spot on changes between clean fender to distorted Les Paul. -
Acoustic Models. . .
Leftzilla replied to tomtheguitarguy's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I was seeing some clipping across all of the models especially on the open G. So lowering the overall string volume was the most elegant solution. I do a lot of combinations of the Mags and Variax emulations. This did effect the balance between the two but I was able to handle it since I was sending the variax emulation to one side and a particular amp and the mags to the other side and a particular amp. -
Acoustic Models. . .
Leftzilla replied to tomtheguitarguy's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
One thing I found was that I had to lower the global string volume to about 80% to stop clipping on the acoustic models. I have both the 59 and 89F and I cannot pickup any discernible difference between the L and R and the Graphtech saddles that couldn't be attributed to the different guitar bodies themselves. -

Thinking of buying need advice
Leftzilla replied to PrimitiveLyric's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
edstar and Charlie Watt have pretty much nailed it on the head. I have 4 Variax's The Original Red VAX 700, the VAC 700 and a JTV59 and JTV89F. Though there are some forum user's that prefer the VAX 700 to the JTV's (Search the threads) in my opinion the JTV is a better build and took advantage of lessons learned with the prior variax's designed. As to Palm muting you now have the option of using the magnetic pickups if you still do not like the results via the modeling.
