Amp Wish List For The Next Update (whenever That Is)
stumblinman replied to RipperShred's topic in POD HD
Marshall Slash AFD would be nice too. -
I use a pedal train pro and have my 500x secured with the supplied Velcro. All the feet can come off. The screw doesn't bottom out and the screw head is large enough it doesn't need a washer either. Did this with my old 500 and the 500x and they both work fine. Been gigging this way for years.

Did you turn up the volume knob on your guitar?

Amp Wish List For The Next Update (whenever That Is)

Hopefully they do better QC with the sonic port vx after hearing about all the cabinet rattles on the stagesource and amplifi units. Most of their products scream "a little rushed to the market" -
Amp Wish List For The Next Update (whenever That Is)
stumblinman replied to RipperShred's topic in POD HD
I'm glad you guys are still optimistic about a wish list. All L6 seems to be doing now is tallying these requests for their next piece of hardware. Hell, we've practically done all their market research for them. I'd love to see an update with some new stuff, but I'm not holding my breath. I've looked up some of the amps that have been suggested here. Several I hadn't heard of actually sound very cool. Excited to see what makes it into Pod HD2. -
Just mute-strum your strings or tap your pick on your pickup using the looper. Click click click click loop. There's your metronome.

I'm a big fan of the blackbacks... It's the cab I use almost exclusively. I also use it live into a DT25 though, so it's apples and oranges. Checking your input Z value may help as well.. Is it set to auto? Experiment with different values. It's amazing what a difference it makes.

I can only listen to Vai for so long, but I liked those coffee cups too.

DT25 Edit - cab models - Do you leave them on or turn them off?
stumblinman replied to Lution777's topic in DT50 / DT25
I generally use the cabs as a starting point for eq'ing tones before I even turn the EQ knobs on the amp. It gives me options to get close to the tone I want and then I use the tone knobs to dial it in exactly how I want it. I am using the 500x, mind you, so my tweaking goes fairly quickly. I pick which amp model I want to dink around with, strum some open chords while switching cabs, pick a cab/amp combo that pleases me, then tweak amp EQ to finish it up. I generally put an EQ block near the end of my signal chain as well just to really fine tune the output to my DT to get exactly what I want too. Not using the cabs, to me anyways, is depriving yourself of one more tone sculpting tool. YMMV. This also includes changing the topologies. I do that and cab models before I tweak amp EQ knobs. Pod HD and DT amp together is an amazing amp factory. I thought that was marketing BS, but damn if they ain't right!- 13 replies

I actually prefer the Treadplate pre as opposed to the full model regardless of what I'm plugging into. Try them all!

"Tone Made Easy" seminars- Just an amplifi propaganda session?
stumblinman replied to stumblinman's topic in Line 6 Lounge
I'm going. Trying to convince my singer/guitarist to come too. He needs some help and he admitted it lol. I'm honestly quite happy with the tones I get, but since it's only a 40 minute drive and I get a shot at winning something and messing with gear it's well worth it. There's a ton of them scheduled, so hopefully someone else from the boards goes to one and can give a heads-up long before I go. If nobody else does, I sure will though. -
Got the email from L6 about this event at my local Guitar Center, and it sounded promising. At first. After reading about it more, it appears to strictly cover using amplifi to find tones in the cloud of custom tones instead of actually TEACHING anything. "Mimic any tone in 3 seconds". Really? I'm still going, because I want a shot at a free sonic port, but I'm skeptical of the actual value of the material to be presented. Anyone else signed up for the Portland Oregon session? Would be nice to put some faces to internet names.

Hehe just busting chops. Thx DI.

At least it ships with a power switch.

My damage was to one of the knobs, not the screen.. I'm still not sure how my singer did it, but he managed to push the knob straight down. If you pull it up, it will still work, but it spins free once gravity kicks back in. That's what made me think of it. Just a low-profile, slightly squeezable cap that can fit into little metal clamps to the right and left of the nav buttons on either side of the screen.. Would make a world of difference in making me feel secure playing out.

I just built a custom cover for my pedalboard to protect the plug, since I have an L6 Link cable that sticks out just as far. Prevents them from being stepped on accidentally, since I had to repair my original 500 due to a drunk person doing just that.
-
I'd like the new floor model to have a hinged cover over the display and the small knobs below it. That little bar only protects the operator from stepping on stuff. It doesn't protect against other impacts, even while in a gig bag or pedalboard bag. Removable clear cap, perhaps?

I upgraded because I had to due to negligence by my singer. I like the extra DSP but didn't really need it. My big thing is I couldn't imagine going back to the "individual pedal dance". Turning dirt, delay, chorus all on individually, then off again. Tap tap tap. Tap tap tap. Stuff like that. Spoiled by multi fx state changes with a single button. That's actually my favorite feature of the Pods.

DT25/HD500X issues when changing operating class
stumblinman replied to dbedard67's topic in DT50 / DT25
Also, don't change between topologies or classes quickly. Voltages change greatly and need to stabilize otherwise you will notice other odd artifacts. Less noticeable in the 25, but 50 it becomes distracting. -
Single amp or dual amp configuration? It may be a DSP limit issue. I don't know, I don't use the software.
-
Try them all, and use whichever you like best. That's the best recommendation.

HD500-> L2T volume factor in constructing tones for playing live?
stumblinman replied to ddeyerle's topic in POD HD
Everyone has a different opinion on this. It mostly depends on your tweaking ability and how finicky you are about your tone. What type of music you play will also influence it. Cleans tend to sound more similar at different volumes than overdriven/distorted tones. You should be able to dial in what you want fairly quickly, since the speakers are designed to work with the Pod. Throw $20 at your band mates to cover the rehearsal time you're "wasting"and tell them to stfu while you get your stuff dialed in. It's better for all of you in the long run. Short answer: yes, tweak at gig levels. -
Pods had a problem with a weak USB plug for a while. Repairing the USB on the pod would probably fix your problem. I could quote all the other troubleshooting options that you could find with a simple search, but I will simply state this instead: if your USB port is broken, get it repaired. There are YouTube videos to show exactly what to do. Google is your friend.

Yes they will. I did the same thing. Few months ago. It will load them up with no problem.
