  1. I've returned a few Epi's in my day too. Finally got a couple solid keepers that I still play daily. I'm trying to work the JTV in more, but I will need to build a whole new set of patches to satisfy myself with the tone. I play out with wireless, so no VDI for me, so I will have to manually change models when gigging. Life will go on though.
  2. Yes Joel. I bought one in January 2014 and it was very honky and weird sounding after firmware updates and tweaking, and the mags sounded odd too, so I returned it. I recently bought another to give it another try, and it was supposedly "new", but built in 2013 and already had the 2.10 firmware on it, so it obviously had been used. That one also had bad microswitches on the toggle switch for pickup selection. Returned it. Third one was a keeper. Mags sound good, not great, and the piezo tone issues are nonexistent. The electronics all seem solid too, so I'm holding onto this one. It's a 59 btw.
  3. This is a user forum, not a Line 6 customer service forum. Email the company directly instead of following this path. It won't help. I wish you luck getting a good JTV. It took me 3 tries to get one that was in new condition with no issues. I can empathize with your frustration, but remain calm and contact the company directly. Good luck, and hope to see you here with some constructive posts in the future.
  4. Just tried this. Very happy with it. My only niggle is that the middle position is loud compared to the others. Well, loud to me. Personal opinion. But very nice sounding! Two thumbs up!
  5. Btw. I don't really know if it's coming or not. This is purely speculation on my part based on the fact that Line 6 tends to listen and deliver what their customers want (generally, obviously not always), but since folks crowed about the SLO and we got it, I would assume the 5150 is on the hot list.
  6. Yes. It's coming. Eventually?
  7. Good to know. Thanks guys. I mailed mine about two weeks ago now, so hoping to hear something soon.
  8. Just curious if any of you have received your rebates, and if so, how long did it take? Thanks!
  9. Not to make you feel worse, but mine was $699 after rebate brand new.
  10. Great chops and tone/tune selection. Jealous of your fingerpicking skills!
  11. I posted in another thread I made how I finally eliminated that funky overtone. Turn tone knob to about 7-8 and it's gone. Hope this helps you too!
  12. Ya, I've tried all sorts of guitar dampers and workbench changes, but it's still there. I can't believe how simple it was to fix. Live and learn lol.
  13. I've been beating my head against a wall trying to figure out how to get rid of the last bit of piezo high frequency noise that has been such a thorn in my side with these JTV's. And it's super simple: Turn the tone knob down to 7 or 8 Makes the mags cleaner as well. Cuts that shrill top end that seems to come out in the models. I am assuming part of it is my setup, but even a clean patch with simply an amp loaded had the issue. So now there's a slight top end cut, which filters those frequencies out, and I can just leave it alone for the mags too. I can add some clarity with a little more treble on the amp and not hurt the guitar tone at all. I'm so stoked!
  14. Found it: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/321531.html It says for Pod XT and MM4, but they are the same.
  15. I think I have a spare in my parts drawer. I will see what's on it.
  16. I actually prefer the modeled Les Paul to the standard JTV 59 mags.. They are still not as good as my LP with 57 Classics, but if I can flip a switch and go from quack to crunch and be 90% there, I'm good.
  17. Dean! You haven't given me a reason to take a shot in a while! Thank you!
  18. Obviously. Can I get my amplifi aquatinted? Might like it better than red.
  19. I too use the standard XL's. They work fine on all my guitars and seem to be the ones that break the least often. They do go dull fairly quick, but they still sound excellent. I'd have a hard time going back to another brand. All I know is Ernie Ball is lollipop.
  20. Generally speaking in DC circuits, black is ground. Whether or not this is true for the L6 stock ones, I don't know. A call to their customer service/tech support line should solve it.
  21. Oh yeah? Well I heard they are taking features AWAY in the next update because folks have been saying for years that the Pod is too complicated. It's gonna be firmware version 0.50 Mono output, one dirt box, and L6 link port will be a cigarette lighter.
  22. Do you mean the female plug receptacle on the back of the Pod? I had to replace mine, and I bought it from fullcompass.com but I'm not sure for the UK. Contact Line 6 directly by phone or email and they can probably point you in the right direction?
  23. Most importantly, are you playing live or doing home recording? Direct to board or through a real amp? These guys are all giving great advice, but without knowing your intended use, some options may make things worse, and some will not actually DO anything. What is your full setup?
  24. That was meant sarcastically. Must make note to add more sarcasm...
  25. It's the vibration of the string in the saddle at the base of the bridge. I had the same problem. I used a little electrical tape underneath the string down to where the ball end slides in to dampen it and it's helped a lot. There's been a few posts about where to get the three way switch on the boards too. I know it's from fullcompass.com but I don't have the link. Sorry.
