My sources tell me that the announcement will be that Yamaha is buying Fractal, and they will release a new modeler combining Fractal and Line 6 tech and it will be called... wait for it.... Frod -
How Do You Use Your Expression Pedal Besides Volume And Wah?
stumblinman replied to stumblinman's topic in POD HD
Since I started this thread a while ago, I just wanted to say: You guys are geniuses (genii?). Some seriously great ideas I never would have thought of. I'm impressed and glad to call you all brothers in tone! (Patent Pending) Seriously though. Awesome ideas all around. I ran out of +1's, so I'll add more tomorrow. -
Just Bought my Variax 69
stumblinman replied to pwhittles's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
You will have a blast! I used to hate strats, because I hated their scale length. Since I got my 59 I love the tone I can get. Neck pickup on a strat is to die for! Glad I can go from any bridge pup I want to strat neck pickup with the flip of a switch. Enjoy! -
Sweetwater $150 JTV mail-in rebate
stumblinman replied to ColonelForbin's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I emailed Nick Shilling at Line 6, as he is in charge of the L6 portion. nshilling@line6.com I hope you hear something soon. -
I use an EH Soul Food constantly. I did have two, but my singer used it so often that I just sold it to him lol. My bass player bought one too, and he uses it for bass and guitar. OD's in front of HD work great.

Sweetwater $150 JTV mail-in rebate
stumblinman replied to ColonelForbin's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I sent mine in December 2nd, and it wasn't considered "received" until December 19th. I sent an email to L6 yesterday and they told me I was approved and was waiting to be processed by the rebate house that cuts the checks. I wish you luck and hope it arrives soon! -
Been fiddling with using one of my powered PA speakers a little more. It seems to be getting better. I have a decent fender clean tone now with no effects but compression and reverb. Using a soul food for OD. Going to build a Marshall patch next and see how it goes. Then I will work on my acoustic tone and maybe then I will take this rig to practice instead of my DT and give it a go. That's pretty cool, playing in a band with your wife. My wife plays violin, but I can't convince Her to join us.
-
You guys aren't making this any easier! Maybe I will just go with Stagesource and leave my DT at the practice pad with some pedals. I can see it now: "Sweet sweet wife, you are so beautiful..." "What do you want to buy now?" "Nothing big, just another PA speaker" "How much is it?" "Depending on which one, it's between $650 and $800" *BANG* Thud....

Mandolin and Uke would be great.

I'm tempted on the l2m since it's actually almost reasonably priced, but some of the Roland KC Amps look pretty good too. Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate seeing what other folks are working with.

Did some messing around with a powered PA speaker tonight for fun. It's tough to dial in a good direct sound. I may start grabbing other guys patches from Custom Tone because I don't want to learn this thing all over again lol. So easy with the DT.
-
Hey guys. Pondering going from my DT for gigs to using FRFR speakers to take full advantage of the acoustic models in the JTV without having to use my Pod fx loop to send to PA. Of course the Stagesource would be optimal, but I have a hard time justifying the price, and after reading the posts about rattling cabs and things like that, I'm a little wary. I like a speaker pushing air behind me, so going direct just won't work. Ideas? What are you guys using?

HD500 patch for ORGY/Deadsy/Spineshank circa 2000 tone
stumblinman replied to papatrimble's topic in POD HD
Have you checked customtone.com? That's where line 6 user post their patches to share. Also, is it for live or home use? Amp? Headphones? Monitors? Not my type of music so I won't be much help other than pointing you to the website. Good luck!- 4 replies

Tone Of Vdi Vs 1/4"
stumblinman replied to chuskey's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
It's funny folks talk about vintage tone and wanting the classic tones, but neglect to account for the guitar lead in that. It obviously matters. When even the Relay wireless units come with cable emulation, having the cable tone taken out by the VDI seems like an oversight. I don't use VDI even with a complete dream rig since I use wireless, and on my G50 I have cable emulation on. -
Is the moon full? What pick thickness do you each use? Was he playing on a full stomach? Navel gazing gains nothing. Help the guy tweak. He may just have a bad ear for playing in a mix with others.

Save up to 50% on JTV
stumblinman replied to brue58ski's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
My JTV59 will end up being $700 after my rebate arrives. That's for a brand new cherry sunburst. I can live with that. If the initial price was $1499 then I actually came out ahead. If the initial price was $999 (which it was) I actually still saved 30% which is pretty damn good. -

stumblinman replied to brue58ski's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
That is off the MSRP, which is significantly higher than the street price. -
I would go with the DT. PA's vary wildly from venue to venue and I wouldn't trust a sound man in every locale to mix it right. Control your tone and get an amp that can be used with or without a Pod and you will still sound great. The JTV is nice, but in the end a quality amp will do more for you.

If you could only use 2 amps what would they be?
stumblinman replied to aerosol_d7's topic in POD HD
Plexi for both. It's fat for cleans and articulate when driven. I'm partial to the treadplate for high gain, but could live without it. So maybe I should say plexi and treadplate. -
Because we've all been down this road with L6 before probably. I'm always excited to see what's coming up, but I've learned the results never match the anticipation. I will settle for enhanced optimism rather than unrealistic expectations. No matter what is actually delivered and when it happens, I will tell them thank you and continue playing guitar.

Rebates: How long did it take?
stumblinman replied to stumblinman's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I've been contacted by Line 6 about the rebate. Looks like they do them in batches. I'm a batch or two away from complete from the sound of it. So if you are in America and sent it in around the first of December you are probably about the same. Another week or two. -

I called L6 about this. They gave the the email address to request a status update. It's a third party company. line6rebates@cssales.com I sent one this morning and will keep you guys posted on what I learn.
