  1. Much better demo of the tones. Everything sounds more "three dimensional". Makes me want to use more than the LP, acoustic and strat neck pickups in my JTV. First demo that's actually showed variety. Nice.
  2. Still a ton of reverb and delay... just let the amps breathe man! Don't get me wrong, I like to hear more samples, as I'm probably going to just walk into GC and buy it and make up my own mind then, but I'd love to hear some Les Paul clips. Why does everyone use Fender-style or shredder guitars. Plug a Les Paul in, and let's hear what that does. Are you listening Line 6? Yes, yes they are. I believe.
  3. Seriously jealous of your chops and your tone crafting. Well done!
  4. If you're curious what the amps are, look at your HD500 and add a few more. I'm really having a hard time getting excited about the same models I've had for three years, plus a few extras. The hype machine at L6 is working overtime though. It's a pretty looking unit too. I genuinely WANT to be excited about Helix. But the lack of honest knob-twisting demos concerns me. Give it to someone that isn't an L6 lollipopkisser and let them put it through its paces with multiple speakers/amps and show us what it sounds like raw. I understand that this isn't how advertising works, but it helps those that (like me) want more honest insight
  5. Too much stuff with effects.. I agree about playing E chords and letting them ring... I do that with every amp I try. If it can't make me smile from a simple open E strum, then it's not the amp for me.. It's gotta be instant. Please guys, less effects or crappy downtuned studio garbage. Let the amps shine, or folks will start the "Line 6 talks the talk, but can't walk the walk" stuff.. I'm less stoked the longer I wait for something to wow me. $1500 is a large chunk of cheddar, and you haven't given (most) of us enough to justify it. Just put some simple samples out!
  6. I took a photo, but still have no idea how to upload it here..
  7. You try the factory reset? Holding down a direction on the dpad will bring it up into a safe mode for re flashing. Don't remember which arrow though. Power down. Hold left arrow. Power on while holding. I think?
  8. Older ZW Epi's had passive EMG pups. The last couple years have actives.
  9. Yes. But be prepared to learn guitar amp tones all over again. Once you understand the unit and its idiosyncrasies, you can build tones quickly. But it's a steep hill at first, especially for heavy tones.
  10. I'm waiting myself... Own a few of their products and bought and sold a few in the past. If it's 80% of what they adspeak it to be, I'll buy it. I'm still waiting for that demo that blows my mind.
  11. Someday I'll take a picture of just my rig. I used to run my Pod into my DT25, but since I got a JTV and use acoustic models I go direct to PA now. So now my Relay G50 and DT25 sit home collecting dust. Plus, I don't know how to post images on this board. Got a few private parties coming up so I'll snap some shots when we are all set up.
  12. They are right. I assumed there was more control, as I don't actually use the edit software. Sorry! There are tons of pitch-shifting programs out there that can change pitch without changing tempo. That would probably be a better approach.
  13. You can create alternate tunings by preset for a jtv in the HD500. But obviously it only works if you use VDI. I'm not in front of my Pod/jtv right now, but I know it's in the system and I/o menu. Keep scrolling to the right. I don't use the edit software ever, so I can't tell you how to find it there. But yes, you can tune down each string to get close to 435. I can't guarantee you can hit exactly 435, but, to quote John Cougar, it should be close enough for rock and roll.
  14. I put a strip in there just to be safe, but it's actually loose so I don't think it's even necessary. Seems the strings don't even touch, except enough to slightly hold Velcro.
  15. You were right! Much cleaner tone on palm muting and there's no more weird overtones. Even my tuner pedal is more accurate now without the extra sympathetic vibrations that make the tuner usually go wonky as a note decays. Great find, and thanks for the advice! Also, you were right! Not long over a week for delivery. Good stuff!
  16. Yep. He's a hell of a salesman. Like he invented this. I'm sure the guys that buy his stuff consider it gospel, but the more of his posts I read the less I like the guy. It's a great idea for audio equipment, but don't pretend it's your invention.
  17. Get a Helix to stumblinman. I'll make vids for you :)
  18. Ordered. On a slow boat from China, so when it arrives next month I'll update with results. Really looking forward to seeing if it helps eliminate sympathetic vibrations through the bridge.
  19. FX8 isn't true bypass, it's buffered. It's right there in the literature you quoted. Go spout your drivel somewhere else please. .
  20. I think they said up to 16 mics on a cab or something ludicrous like that?
  21. This is used daily in industrial process instrumentation. I do this on a daily basis. Such a ridiculous way to cash in on ignorance. Maybe Fractal clipped the shield with premium-grade wire cutters, unlike the cheap Chinese cutters used by the competition...
  22. So Phil, how's the bypass tone compared to straight to amp? Volume level, tone suck etc? I don't need solid numbers, just ballpark "in your opinion" statement. Volume levels consistent? Loops don't require ridiculous tweaking to get unity gain?
