I returned my first JTV because I couldn't live with it for the price/tone ratio. I got an incredible deal from Guitar Center for a new one, so I'm trying again. Wish me luck!

$150 Rebate Valid for Demo/Blemished?
stumblinman replied to iflyfisher's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
I would think so. As long as you have the shipping box with the barcode, serial number and receipt. Read the rebate form. I didn't see B stock as an exclusion. -
You shouldn't need a buffer. The Pod actually has adjustable impedance, so you should be able to set it to the loading you like based on your setup. Play around with the input Z and see what makes you happy.

I have to agree, it is ridiculous that their website doesn't work properly with iPads or iPhones. Especially considering they use iOS devices for their own apps. It has been this way for quite some time.

Takes me back to the 80's in a good way. Always loved that sort of tone. Nice!

"Tone Made Easy" seminars- Just an amplifi propaganda session?
stumblinman replied to stumblinman's topic in Line 6 Lounge
Hehe just bought a voodoo dozen to bring to work. I'm an instrument tech at a paper mill and we had a shutdown yesterday so I thought I'd bring the guys on my crew a treat. -
"Tone Made Easy" seminars- Just an amplifi propaganda session?

There wasn't much time for questions. He went over stuff quick but said you could stick around after to ask questions and try it out. I left right away because I had to get to Voodoo Doughnut and back home at a decent time. He used a 75. Not much low end to speak of. Sounded very "boxy". He didn't use a 150. He just did a cursory spec comparison. It didn't sound bad, just small. Audio playback sounded very good though. -
"Tone Made Easy" seminars- Just an amplifi propaganda session?
stumblinman replied to stumblinman's topic in Line 6 Lounge
Well, not that anyone checks this thread, but I thought I'd post my opinion on the Tone Made Easy seminar. It was OK. Some basic information if you really haven't messed with amps and effects much, but nothing really earth-shattering. A few basic starting points for various amp manufacturers, then some effects explanations, then the amplifi demo portion. I must admit, the amplifi did sound better than I expected though. But still not for me. Pluses: My singer/guitarist won the Sonic Port! Got to meet Joe Butterfield Minuses: Not in depth enough. I can't knock too hard for this, as it's just an hour and a half and there's a lot of stuff to cover, but I left feeling "hungry" for more. Almost seemed as if they were purposely talking "around" the Pod HD series. Talking up amplifi FX100 and the two amps, as well as talking about the multiple footpedals available to control the amplifi series, and talking about Pod Farm and Pod Mobile. Hell, they even talked about the Pod 2.0 but didn't mention HD once. Just seemed deliberate. All in all, it was pretty much an amplifi sales pitch with some guitar amp history thrown in. I did enjoy it though just to see what amplifi was actually capable of in person. -
I always love that folks leave the cost of the device doing the processing out of the equation. "It was only $50 plus the cost of the computer I use to run it!" If your computer/monitor/speaker combo cost you less than $450 additional, AND you can control effects and amps, including wah, volume etc while still actively playing your guitar then you have a valid comparison. Otherwise, you're just pissing on my leg and telling me it's raining.

Topology choices may have changed in your presets.

I had a 59 and just couldn't fall in love with it. Too much fiddling and the stock pickups were crap compared to my Gibson pups in 2 other guitars. At first I thought it was great, but the honeymoon was over within a week. Build quality was good though. Good action and frets. Main issue was the actual tone of the guitar. For the money I expected more, so I returned it. Never played a 69, because I don't like strat style guitars, so I can't comment on that. But if you're spending your hard-earned dough, you deserve to be happy for the outlay of cash.

Mine is tomorrow. I'll post my take on it soon after. -
That doesn't affect the knob positions I believe. Every time you call up an amp or effect model, it pulls up default values, not knob position.

Put me down for tubes. It isn't voltage that blows a fuse.
-
Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Chances are it was a bad tube that took out your mains fuse. New tubes and a bias should make you right as rain. Second post with this problem within a couple weeks. Weird. Glad you found the other fuse :)

Perhaps flash back to an older firmware before it was added, and then update it to the most recent again.

dumb question: mesa cab clone with DT-25?

It's ok. I retaliated and then upped your last post. :) -
dumb question: mesa cab clone with DT-25?
stumblinman replied to the_bees_knees22's topic in DT50 / DT25
Of course, do what makes you feel safe. There is a relay there to protect the transformer. I get a negative vote for something I was told directly from an L6 employee when I called about this over a year ago. Thanks radatats. -

stumblinman replied to the_bees_knees22's topic in DT50 / DT25
The DT25 literature says it has transformer protection for no-load situations. This topic has gone around and around several times as well. -
Glad to hear it. Play on!

What is the best way to connect HD500x to Fender Frontman 212r?
stumblinman replied to ooaykac's topic in POD HD
I used one before I bought my DT. Power amp in is the way to go. I used combo/front so I could adjust the high and low frequencies. Start out with all Pod tone knobs on noon when you start building your patches, and see what it sounds like. Change cabs until you find one that gets you closer to the sound you are looking for, and then begin changing your tone stack. Adjusting the master volume and the bias settings in the DEP section will make small differences, but I would wait until you are close to what you want before adjusting them for final touches. It takes time, but you can get great tones with some work. Happy hunting! -
Lack of clean amps on HD500x - How to get good clean sounds on HD500x?
stumblinman replied to fabiovictorio's topic in POD HD
Also using the pre models helps and can eliminate distortion. You may need a comp or eq or boost mixer volume to get up to the level you want, but that's how I get my clean tone. Nice fat cleans from the JTM using the pre version.- 24 replies

Did you try center balancing your mixer?
