  1. Hi Robert So to answer your first question ... Yes that's all you'll need. The mixer in the L2t has plenty of gain and so you can just plug an XDV right in. Warming things up means loss of clarity and I would avoid it for speech applications. The people in the back rows will thank you. As to what mic to use, the answer is " it all depends". It depends how loud you'll be, it depends on how much amplification you'll need (which is different), it depends on how big the room is ( mainly ceiling height) and if other sound is going on at the same time ( music for example). It also depends on your use of monitors. One size does not fit all here. While super cardioids have some advantages, they quickly become a problem if they move around a little on your tie. Omnis don't care. Also I would like to point out that using headsets instead of lav mics will make the job almost ten times easier (literally). Lav mics are difficult to work with because your mouth is a foot away from the mic instead of an inch away with a headset.
  2. Unfortunately such a device does not exist. How far do you need to run?
  3. Well you would be on your own ... But ... The jack is a snap in assembly in the beltpack. So theoretically you could modify an assembly and snap it in. You could also experiment with a small series resistor between pins 3&4 to change the level. http://www.fullcompass.com/product/405558.html
  4. I'm not clear here. Are you saying that that batteries run out after an hour and a half and cause the transmitter to shut off? Or are you saying that you are getting drop outs after an hour and a half? What is SSDD?
  5. There's no way to know without getting it inspected. About the only thing you could check are the battery terminals to be sure they are not bend or corroded.
  6. My experience has been that anything that has more the 2600mAh capacity will have a diameter too large to fit in the belt packs. A "AA" battery is supposed to be 13.5mm in diameter with a tolerance that allows 14.5. Many batteries that call themselves "AA" are simply too large. The issue with wireless mics is that the battery needs to be very tight so that it doesn't get shaken enough to break contact but still is removable. It's a tightrope that you walk in design.
  7. But did you first create a "setup" and save it? If not then you won't be able to recall the "scene" Scenes get stored inside of Setups.
  8. Hey Larry Wouldn't a better course of action be to send them in and get a repair estimate? True, they may be dead but it's also a possibility that something very simple is off.
  9. The FBS works on the input and so it covers any any all speakers that the input is assigned to. That said if your other monitors are significantly different then they could be the ones causing the feedback to occur. If you can spare an additional output bus then assigning it separately would give your the ability to EQ them separately. This may or may not make a difference, but it is the most flexible.
  10. As a test try putting the two transmitters on different channels ... Say 1 & 2. Then switch instruments by switching the channel back and forth on the receiver.
  11. Do you have both transmitters turned on at the same time? You can't do that if that are on the same channel. Sounds like one of them locks to the receiver which locks the other one out. You need to turn one off before you turn the other one on
  12. Setting gain structure when you have a known source is easy but when you have someone signing into a mic you can only anticipate what will happen. So the general idea is to set the trim as high as you can while allowing for as much headroom as you require. For me personally that's usually about 15 dB. Thats why using the auto-trim make the while process pretty much foolproof.
  13. No ... since you are in Canada just talk to L&M.
  14. I just can't tell without actually testing the unit. I'd open a service ticket.
  15. Firmware is just more permanently installed software.
  16. Yes ... the V75 units are interchangeable. But you will need to switch the V75 into RF1 mode (or update your V70 receiver first. You may want to open a service ticket and get it checked. It might be covered under the warranty.
  17. Could be the jack, could be the analog output amps, could be the cable. The fact that the L6 link level doesn't drop suggests you didn't do anything funny in the bus mix. Firmware probably shouldn't make a difference as the L6 link outs worked perfectly. You could confirm a faulty "output" but not necessarily the jack. You would put in a test tone with a known amount add no gain and see if you get the same output. But this is an intermittent problem. It happens over time? I would play a test tone loop into the mixer and measure the output over time. I would suggest sending the tone loop onto all 4 monitor busses with everything running plain vanilla. Then monitor the level of all 4 outputs. better if you could record all 4 channels for an hour or two then look at them with a visual editor. You should be able to quickly see any drop offs that way.
  18. Is is it failing at just one venue? If so are any other Line 6 speakers plugged into the same outlet? Is the speaker still very cold before you start? If you continually have a problem at just a single venue then I would suspect something funny with the wiring. Do you have a little line checker and can you determine that the hot and neutral are not reversed? Once you've satisfied yourself that the local AC power is not the issue then I would contact the service department and have them test the power supply in the speaker.
  19. No. They are independent. Just checking. When you say you monitor is cutting out do you mean all sound stops from the monitor or just that the level drops (or even independent channels drop)? What happened when you swapped monitors?
  20. So Im not clear exactly what is happening. When you say "cycling" do you mean that all indication of power shows the box off or are you getting an enumeration error (when the L6 link cannot lock on and establish a sync)?
  21. It's always hard to diagnose a one time failure. It's much easier to diagnose a problem when the gear burns up and you have a lump of charcoal. So the list of possibilities goes like this. You could have a hardware failure but then it would usually always be a problem. You could have a computer glitch caused by a spike from the AC power or from an external device that is plugged into the mixer. In this case you may never have the problem again. Or maybe your SD card just became unseated. I know it's very difficult to take any time at all while you are in the middle of a show to check things and see what's going on. You can certainly send it back to the service dept and have it checked. But if there is no evidence of hardware failure there won't be anything they can do. I would recommend using a UPS type power supply to protect again even short power outs. Of course you have to get one that switches in very quickly.
  22. So I've never seen in your posts ... Are you using a dongle or an external router? Specifically which one?
  23. Hi Bob The loading of piezo elements is a tricky question and there are lots of trade offs. The 1/4" inputs on the L2t speaker are 1.3 meg ohms. The 100k you mentioned is the impedance for the RCA inputs on the amp panel. What is important with piezos is loading ( which affects tone) rather than impedance ( which affects level). Piezos are basically a capacitor and so they form a filter when plugged in that begins to roll off the lows. This is greatly exaggerated by the cable that you use to connect the pickup to the amp. So some people prefer to use a very high impedance preamp when using a piezo pickup. But unless you place that preamp very close to the pickup you lose a lot of its effectiveness. Here's what I would recommend. Just try it first. You may just love the sound without it since it only affects the very low end and there just isn't much to worry about with a violin. A good part will depend of the cable you use to plug it in ... Especially the length. The L2t mixer also has the advantage of the Variax model to assist the tone so you may already have all you need without adding a preamp. I don't know if you've considered going wireless but here's a good case to do so. That's because if you plug into a Line 6 beltpack you'll still have that 1.3 meg ohm input but you'll be eliminating the effect that the cable will have on your piezo pickup.
  24. There is only one headset mic for drummers and that's the Crown CM311am. I started with Shure headsets, then moved to the Countryman Isomax. But the Crown CM311a is WAY better at rejecting the ambient sound from your drums.
