  1. So I will reply to this, since duncann does not have the omniscient abilities he would need ;) I use Cubase 5, and there are no fx from Cubase on the guitar tracks. I miked up my DT25 with a Sennhesier e609. The mic went into a very basic ART preamp. There are two rhythm tracks. Each uses the same pod patch, which is based on the Park model with the Park cab and tube distortion. I need to get some ;yrics on the chorus part, which is the basic riff you hear at the start in 6/4. Right now I am still calling it "Glove Fashion Show" because my kid starting singing those words to it one time. Unfortunately, I am having a hard time getting past those non-sensical words.
  2. I have been following this thread for awhile, and it is great hearing the tones people have made. This is what it's all about. I went the DT25 route, so I don't have many direct tones for the Pod. I just love the DT25 tones, but then the challenge is capturing that to record. I haven't been blown away by the direct out on the DT25 for recording, though I could see it being handy in a live setting. Thus, I've been working on miking up the DT25. This is my best result from using an e609 on my DT25: https://soundcloud.com/pat-connor-4/dt25-on-brit-75-recorded-with Guitar is a PRS McCarty.
  3. I am happy to say the technical problems did not happen last night at the show! Max, I followed your advice and powered up and plugged in things in that order. I only wish I had some audio or video to post, as it would have been a good demonstration of some dream rig fun, going from acoustic/Variax mags sound (with mags going throgh the new Roland amp) to a lead sound based on the 2204 amp.
  4. Thanks! I will give it a try if it happens again.
  5. Whoops. Accidentally hit Post... So I was at the rehearsal tonight and I switched from an acoustic patch to a lead patch. So far so good. After the solo is over press the footswitch to go back to the acoustic patch and it doesn't switch back. I am stuck on this lead distorted sound when I am supposed to be lightly picking an acoustic. I look down and the display indicates the acoustic patch but that is not what I am hearing. There was a break in the song so I turned off the pod, turned it back on and it came back displaying the acoustic patch but I still heard electric lead when I play. When I press on a different footswitch nothinh happens. It still displays the acoustic patch while I am hearing electric. This was a nightmare scenario to have happen on a stage during a dress rehearsal. Of course when I get home and hook things up they work fine. Anyone know what might be going on here? Show is Friday night.

  7. I don't think there's a way to do what you described. I split the signal into two paths and for the one that is acoustic I put in an FX block. I plug on a cable from the FX send to a PA. The other path is set to Variax mags and had an amp etc. That goes to the DT25 via l6 link.
  8. The non-HD amps ported over from the X3 are all full amp sims. They include Insane, Variac, Aggro, Big Bottom... So far I'm not getting great results with them into the DT25, but then again I didn't expect to as they are fuil models. I want to play around with eq some more. So far Variac and Aggro have produced the most workable resuts for me, though if I swtich from a patch with them to one of my usual patches made with an HD premap sim the difference is notable (agaiin, as it should be).
  9. For what it's worth: I liked the combination of the Lester and the P75 for a nice classic rock tone. Add Tube Drive to beef up the crunch level. Spank on neck setting with the Double verb is a nice grouping as well for clean Strat tones. For the Tele bridge setting I like the Plexi normal amp. I had been trying the AC30 but it was too trebly for me. For a jazz sound I like the Semi or Jazzbox on neck setting with the Gibtone amp. Just a few basic suggestions.
  10. I just spotted this thread and today is a great day to contribute to it. Had a band rehearsal and there were so many times today that I was just smiling at how much I was digging my tone. I was using my JTV59 and hd500 into my DT25. It is the best live sound I have ever had. Like many folks here, I have put a lot of time into tweaking between the various amps, cabs, topologies etc. But today was one of those days where it all came together and I was focused all on the music. I was actually near to giggles after one song when it suddenly occured to me that I had used 5 different guitar sounds, 4 amps, plus various effects -- all over 5 patches. This rig is too much fun!
  11. Okay, here's my stab at it. I have read these threads for years, and when I first got my DT25, I also believed that the DT25 stand alone sounded somehow different in a better way than my attempts to emulate the default topology settings with the HD500 and L6 link. However, I have come to believe that they truly are the same, once you know the settings. So here's my proof... I reset my DT25 to factory defaults. Then I hooked up a midi interface to the DT25, hooked that into a Mac, and ran the DT Customizer app that I got from the pinned post at the top of this forum. In the DT Customizer app, I switched through the topologies and wrote down these default settings. Here they are, the ones many have asked for: Topology I Amp: Blackface Double Normal Cab: 2x12 Blackface Double Class A/B Pentode Topology II Amp: Brit P-75 Bright Cab: 4x12 Blackback 30 Class A/B Pentode Topology III Amp: Class A-30 Cab: 2x12 Silver Bell Class A Pentode Topology IV Amp: Treadplate Cab: 4x12 Tread V-30 Class A/B Pentode The 63 Spring Reverb is the default reverb for all topologies. To match this in the Pod, I only used Topology II, partly because I don't have the time to do all four, partly because that was the sound I had been most interested in mirroring in the Pod. I called my Patch Top 2 Pure Loud. Next I went to Channel B of the DT25, and dialed in the exact same settings as my Top 2 Pure Loud Patch (starting with switching the Topology on Channel B to II). Next I recorded myself playing a bit of of my band's tunes (free promo!). The limitation here is that I am using my iPhone and its built in Voice Memo app. I recorded my playing using the Pod patch and then recorded the same thing after switching to Channel B. I submit the results here. Do they sound the exact same? Works for me! The only difference I noted was that even though both sounds (patch and Channel B ) had the channel volume at the max, the Pod patch was louder when I had the Pod's Master all the way up. I'm not really sure why this is the case, but the tones themselves sound the same to me. The only other possible difference I could account for was that I may have placed my iPhone a few inches in a different place between each recording, as I picked up the phone to trim the clips. By the way, my patch settings were: Drive 100 Bass 48 Mid 79 Treble 65 Presence 28 Ch Vol 100 I was playing a JTV-59 with the bridge magnetic humbucker pickup. 13. Greetings! I have a DT25/HD500/JTV59 rig that I looove. I have been pondering an l2t for different situations like a coffeehouse etc -- places where I don't want the full roar. Here's my query. One of the selling points of the l2 is the outputs like acoustic and electric guitar. I am wondering how much better people think those outputs are compared to just running into a nice powered speaker. For instance, a patch I want to use is one using the Variax mags and an acoustic model. But is there any advantage to using an l2 for such a patch? I can't have both the electric and acoustic modes going so I would just have keep it on Reference PA, right? I know if I had two l2 speakers I could send the mags and Variax to different ones, but that's a way too expensive option. The l2 series looks nice but it is so pricey that I want to get a sense of whether what they do well is **that** worth it. What I would really love is to have more than one output mode from the pod, but I know that is not possible. (I have a feeling that the successor to pod hd will be able to do this. )
  14. Is "power cycle" when I unplugged the power and waited 5 seconds before reconnecting? I remember doing that.
  15. I bought the full bundle of model packs the other day for my HD500. There are definitely on the pod, as I have been playing around with them (Shiva, Panama, Mandarin etc.) However when I was scrolling through the setup menu, on the very last page (after global EQ) there was a page which stated that I had the standard model packs but not any of the other 3 packs. Is there some technical thing here I am missing? I guess it doesn't matter since I am using the amps, but I am worried if something got reset it would think I never bought them and not restore them.
  16. Nice video ! I like videos that get right to the the music.
  17. I hear ya! I always thought it was just me who thought that. I remember getting GearBox years ago with its dozens of amp models and going through most of the defaults and thinking they were muffled, mushy crud. Especially anything Marshall. When I think of bands in the 1970s and 1980s that used Marshalls, they sound nothing like the Line6 default values. By the way: a day later and I have come down a little from my Shiva high. I still like it, but it will need some more tweaking. Sigh....
  18. I changed Shiva to the Hiwatt as well as Top III. I got that tip from you -- thanks! I am somewhat surprised that the old XT amps sound okay through the DT. I have only tried Insane and Variac, but they are working for me. I would have thought that being full models they wouldn't work as well. The 2204 is still not working for me, but right now I am too busy jamming to the Shiva to care.
  19. I got the new model packs for my HD500/DT25/JTV59 setup. I was eager to try out the Shiva amp, as it was much hyped. First impression...meh. It sounded muffled, like it was in a closet. Big letdown. The 5150 wasn't doing it for me either, and this morning I was thinking of returning the whole thing. Then as I played around, I tried the Shiva on Topology III...wow, what a difference! Now it has a great crunchy bite to it (am I talking about a guitar tone or food?) I have always coveted that Aerosmith Sweet Emotion tone, and this sounds pretty darn close. It was worth hanging in and doing that extra tweak. You never know. Usually Top III sounds too bright to my ears, but it really worked with this amp.
  20. The Variac is not an HD version. It is the same model as on the XT/X3, ported over to work on the HD units. So it should sound the same. There is also no "pre" version, since it is not HD.
  21. Wow -- that's an awesome idea, doing a dual tone with mags and modeled. The only way I've tried that is sending a sitar through the FX send to a powered speaker while sending the mag sound to the DT25. I will definitely try out the Lester with the 59's mags. I can see it sounding amazing with the rig you have (did you ever post a picture of the dual DT/dual LT setup); I'll see how it works all getting summed to my one DT25. I'm especially curious to see what it does with lead tones.
  22. For the sake of my GAS, I hope not. 😠Whenever I get a new music catalog, my wife asks me sarcastically if there is a DT26 in it. Even though she knows it wouldn't be called that (as I patiently explained) that has become the metaphor for GAS for her. [i think they would call it HD-DTX or something like that.] Seriously though, sorry about your issues. This stuff is great when it works, and exceedingly frustrating when it doesn't.
  23. I got my new JTV-59 yesterday, and this is one sweeeeeeeeeeeeet guitar! I got the JTV-69 a year ago, and while I like it lot , the strat feel didn't work for me. I have been playing Les Paul and PRS guitars for many years, and that's just what feels best to my hands. The 59 really captures that same feeling. The best part is I can keep my Variax patches I made with the POD and DT25, since the modeling part is the same. I must say, though, the mags on the 59 are really impressive. I did acually end up modifying a few patches, changing from the Lester model to the mags. In my band, I have been using a PRS and a Variax. As one of my bandmates pointed out, I could probably just get by with the Variax now if I had to. Indeed I can, though there's no way I am dumping my PRS. Just wanted to spread a little JTV love. This is indeed my dream rig now.
  24. Thans for the samples! It is interesting that to my ears the old XT models held up well. Of the new ones, the Shiva sounds the nicest out of the gate.
  25. You can assign the pedeal to one of the footswitches. Go to the Controllers page. Under "Model" select the wah. Then under "FS Assign" pick the footswitch you want. See the attached screenshot (you'll have to zoom in).
