  1. Apparently your guitar gets no power through VDI. If not the cable is the issue then it could be 1. The power supply in the 500x 2. the connector in the 500x (3. the VDI Cable) 4. The connector on the JTV 5. a solder connection inside the JTV Do you have a possibility to try the guitar without battery on a different VDI Pod or Helix to see if it's 1. or 2.?
  2. Can someone list all the startup switch combinations with their impact description and pin it at the forum top? Sorry I could search em myself but maybe someone got em all listed already?
  3. I think the philosophy was to create a unit that is so easy to program that it doesn't require editor or bluetooth. Now they revised this to some extend by writing an editor software (soon). I had an H9 before and while it was fun using an ipad with it, I much prefer a unit with a great integrated screen and some extra ease of use gimmicks like touch sensitive buttons etc.
  4. Last night in my dream I played a Friedman BE100 and Dirty Shirley models with my Helix. Waking up felt like a roll back. So Line6 could you please be so kind as to catch up with my REM Phase reality? ;)
  5. The manual for such a product must explain every parameter of any effect or setting. Currently the manual maybe covers 50%. The rest is trial and error. There is no excuse for it. Smaller companies often are better with these things as there are too many meetings and discussions and too little action. Some intern could write a proper manual in a week. Wouldn't need all the different languages even. But it ain't gonna happen.
  6. I had that issue and chose to ignore it and play more guitar ;)
  7. The cable won't make a difference. It transmits data, no audio. It's a shame that Line6 are not properly supporting their own proprietary standard (VDI). The Variax sounds worlds better through the Jack/Input Z connection. Funny I had postet the same on Ideascale as well on Monday http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Guitar-Input-Impedance-On-Variax-VDI-Connection/804025-23508
  8. There should be a level meter block in the helix
  9. Well the models sound better (more natural, more guitar like) through cable and the guitar input, too, try it! However switching and pickup selection through Helix presets won't work then.
  10. While it was quite bass heavy played on its own, when I cranked it in rehearsal the Friedman ASM was killer. And it's not very expensive. But you have to cope with the weight.
  11. It's just a pity that the correct impedance loading like on the guitar in isn't available when connected through VDI. My Variax seems to sound and feelmuch more "real" through the guitar in.
  12. For amps that cannot switch channels via control change (where you could define two alternating values in one helix foot switch) it could be great to have the ability to assign optionsl TWO program change values on s FS, one for on, one for off.
  13. I like the JTM bright and the LA Compressor. Compressor is key for slide. You want sustain but not too much dirt.
  14. Wow that was quick. Thanks! Line6, put it in the manual, please.
  15. Which bit width is right for the IRs in Helix, 16 or 24? There is nothing in the manual about this. I checked three times. Thanks!
  16. I like!! https://soundcloud.com/jaeger28/matschstick-deluxe
  17. I have tried all possibilities. Got a Variax. Solved. You won't get great tunings made with a pitch shifter of an audio signal. Variax does it perfectly though.
  18. Hmm, suddenly all of my patches only come through on Ch2 via USB. Before it was nice and stereo on 1 & 2. Has something been changed to the USB Audio treatment of the stereo paths? Maybe I'm doing something wrong ...
  19. Next I need an IR that makes my playing sound like Gary Moore. Anyone know where I can download that?
  20. I gotta say I'm rather damn pleased with the new stuff
  21. That one is specially designed for fx loops. I think it has two iso chains, one for send, one for return. So it should work in the loop.
  22. Front input. You have to break the loop at one point, this is the easiest one. If you isolate at the fx loop you need a dual box to isolate both, send and return.
  23. No idea about this issue as I don't have it (my amps switch via midi) Isolation boxes are plenty, here a few: Lehle P Split Palmer PLI01 Radial etc
  24. DI thanks a lot for sharing openly. We all appreciate this very much. Don't let the moaners pull you down and stay positive.
