So you overwrote the v2.21 factory presets with the bundle-saved v2.20 factory presets. Not sure what, if any, changes there were in v2.21 but if there were any you don't have them. For this reason I prefer to save individual setlists rather than the bundle during the firmware update process.

Yes, this update is a little different as Phil points out. However the guideline I posted works in all cases (including updating from v2.11 and earlier) and doesn't require the unpublished knowledge that this one is different. In fact, the firmware installation instructions for v2.21 still direct you to download and install Editor v2.20. It does no harm to reinstall the editor package. So if you already know enough to understand the difference this time then you don't need the guideline. But I believe that most people should start with the Editor package until the whole process is improved. Note also that many people did not update to v2.20, and were waiting for 2.21 to update from v2.11. Those people really do need to start with the Editor package.

I know the Helix firmware update procedure is cumbersome right now. Line 6 has promised a smoother process in future, but righ now it is what it is. I see many people are still not performing the v2.21 update properly. I think the problem is that some people are beginning with the firmware. DON'T DO THAT! You need to BEGIN WITH THE EDITOR installation package. To get the editor package go to the Downloads section of this website. Select Helix in the middle (software) field, NOT the leftmost (Products) field. Leave the Products field blank (all Products). READ and FOLLOW the installation instructions. Use the Get Download button at the bottom of the instructions panel to download and install the editor package when directed.

Do not just download and run the latest Updater. Download and install the latest editor package, which includes the editor, driver, and Updater. THEN run the Updater to install the firmware. To get the editor package go to the Downloads section of this website. Select Helix in the middle (software) field, NOT the leftmost (Products) field. Leave the Products field blank (all Products). READ and FOLLOW the installation instructions.

Not sure what you mean. The global reset after upgrading firmware deletes all IRs from the Helix device. You need to manually restore them to the same locations. If that's what you mean by 'poking around', then yes - they are now 'all there'. If you did not manually reload the IRs and they are still in the device that means you did not complete the update by resetting the globals. Your Helix will have unpredictable issues.
-
You need to load the IRs from both sources into unique locations/slots in the IR area in Helix. Then you need to edit the associated presets to specify the desired IR (new slot number). Try leaving the Fremen presets/IRs as they are. Load Glenn's IRs into different locations and edit his presets accordingly.

Yes. It's coming ....... soon.

Just want to make sure..... you began with the editor package as per instructions, right? Make sure you don't just update the firmware using an older version of the Line 6 Updater program. You need to download and install the editor package first, including the latest driver and Line 6 Updater program.
-
Make sure you hit the ENTER key to complete the name change and make it stick.
-
Are you using the editor when this happens? If so, what versions of the Helix firmware and editor are you using? You will see the firmware version listed in the top left area of the editor window. To determine the editor version you need to use the editor menus Help --> About Helix.

Soundstag L3T Delivery today

Not necessarily, for at least two reasons. A previous owner may have: - never registered it at all, or - may have removed the registration from his/her account when selling it to a new owner. In both cases the new owner will have no problem registering the unit. That provides no conclusive information about its ownership history. -
If you have difficulty registering it you just need to contact Line 6. They will get it registered for you. You will have no problem using a second-hand device to download custom tones.

In the Preamp section of the FX blocks there is a subsection for the Mic preamp - the Studio Tube Pre. You select it, position it, and adjust its parameters like any other block.

Could still be an improperly rebuilt preset. I don't think Variax or editor needs to be involved.
-
This had happened to me a few times several firmware versions ago. My symptoms suggested that it was caused by presets that: - involved Variax settings, and / or - were imported after a firmware update and not properly rebuilt in the new firmware. Some time ago I developed the habit of: - disconnecting my VDI cable from Helix when doing a firmware update, and - restarting Helix immediately after importing a saved setlist/preset, BEFORE editing the preset(s). This forces a rebuild. I have not experienced this problem since, but I don't claim it's a reliable workaround. Just that it seems to have stabilized things for me so far.

I expect the 2004 date refers to the design and initial release date. This cable presumably continued to be manufactured until the new design/cable was in production. I don't know when the switch happened but the cable I bought in 2011 was still the old design. I doubt that it had been sitting in inventory for 7 years; I think it (and yours) was more likely a relatively new production of an aging design.

The JTV will come with a Workbench Interface device and associated cables. One of these cables can be used as your cable for connecting to the HD500X but you shouldn't use it because it only has the protective housing/shielding at one end. When connecting to the HD500X you should use a proper VDI cable that has the housing on both ends. You will need to obtain this separately.

I avoid bundle backups. They're too inflexible for purposes of backing up and restoring during firmware updates. But to answer your question.... You use the Export function for backups. Backing up a Bundle backs up all setlists, including all presets in the setlist. Backing up a Setlist backs up all presets in the setlist. Backing up a Preset backs up the selected preset(s). You can also drag/drop presets to create backups. None of these Export functions backs up your IRs. You need to do that using the Export IR function, and there is no Export All feature - you need to do them individually and drag/drop is your friend. There is currently no ability to back up the device's Global Settings.
-
No that's not currently possible.

There's one potential quirk here. The display with the green confirm button also allows you to specify whether you want the assignment to merge with existing assignments (multiple fx with the same switch) or replace any current assignment with the specified single fx.

There's no quick way. It's a manual process.
