  1. Yes, with active inputs you might like the Guitar In Pad turned ON. See Global Settings -> Ins/Outs.
  2. What type of guitar are you using? If the pickups seem too hot try turning on the Input Pad. Then try starting with a simple preset using a ‘clean’ amp, say one of the Fender models. Start with a New Preset and add only the amp and cab (no other FX blocks). See if you can create a tone that you can listen to. If you can do that then the issue is gain staging as you begin to use more complex presets containing hi-gain amps and distorion. If you are not able to create a clean tone that you can tolerate (even if you don’t like it) report back here with details of your efforts.
  3. I think it’s the other way around. Think of the words ‘Recall’ and ‘Discard’ as applying to the changes made while editing a snapshot. When set to Discard the changes you just made are discarded immediately upon leaving the snapshot, and the next time you activate the snapshot it will be restored in its last-saved state. When set to Recall the changes you just made are retained rather than discarded, and the next time you activate the snapshot those unsaved changes appear. But still you must save the preset in order to permanently store the changes.
  4. The 21 presets are whatever you want them to be. There are likely at least some factory presets but most people find factory presets useful as a starting point at best and then create their own. With the POD Express and a total of 21 presets you will soon find yourself overwriting the factory presets in favour of your own creations.
  5. As mentioned several others have recently reported similar problems with Customtone. Would you mind telling us your solution? Might help others.
  6. You can name each Snapshot differently and those names will be displayed as long as your Footswitch settings (Global Settings -> Footswitches includes one of the Snapshots options.
  7. That suggests that you have not assigned the parameters to the Snapshot controller. A parameter that is properly assigned to the Snapshot controller will appear with white brackets around it.
  8. Other than ‘Why’ (which nobody here could explain) is there a question in there somewhere? Nice first post, btw. Perhaps a complaint call to Customer Support would leave you feeling better?
  9. Check the Bias setting on the amp in your HD300 preset. This setting may only be available on the full, not pre, amp model. Sometimes a higher setting will reduce the ‘fizz’.
  10. A you using Snapshots? If not, try that. Seems to me you could use a snapshot for each of the three tones. There’s a section in the manual explaining how to set this up.
  11. Curious. I just searched Customtone using your username and I was returned 58 tones submitted by you. Maybe just a temporary glitch? I’d try again tomorrow.
  12. Thanks for elaborating. I don’t think there’s any alternative using the HX One itself; adjusting the levels of other equipment seems like the best approach. As you say, different pedals have different output levels and that’s just the way it is. It’s not that any of them have ‘incorrect’ levels, just different. The same phenomenon exists with amp modeling. The ‘normal’ output level of a Fender amp is very different from a Marshall amp, and different again for a really hi-gain amp. A common issue with amp modelers like Helix is ‘balancing’ preset levels. The Output block in every Helix preset includes just what you want - a level control for the preset - that is a great tool for balancing presets. But it doesn’t exist in the HX One. Thanks for the interesting (to me at least) discussion!
  13. First perform a factory reset: For the Helix LT, hold footswitch 9+10 on boot to restore presets, setlists, globals and IRs (restores factory bundle) "THIS WILL OVERWRITE ALL USER PRESETS AND SETLISTS. Normally you would perform a system backup first but in your case you can’t. Hopefully you are in the habit of backing things up. If that doesn’t work, hold down footswitches 6+12 to put the device in Update mode, then run the Line 6 Updater program to reinstall the firmware. If still not working open a support ticket.
  14. I chose the path of (in my case at least) better sound quality. My Helix is a better quality soundcard than the one in my PC, and my studio monitors are also superior to the internal PC speakers and to most external speakers designed for general use with a PC. My studio monitors remain connected to my Helix at all times and I have the Helix powered on when using audio from my computer, DAW or not. My PC is configured to use the Helix as its default audio device.
  15. The USB7 dry signal is tapped at the Helix Input block, before it undergoes any DSP, which is what defines ‘dry’. Hence, no it doesn’t capture anything about your preset, including the Wah pedal. You can use MIDI with Helix Native to control the bypass state and pedal position of the Wah. You can do this manually during every playback using the Helix pedal controller, or (probable preferably) you can record a MIDI Automation track that captures the pedal movements once and then applies the automation during all future playbacks. Details vary with the DAW but the Helix Native part of it is explained in the manual.
  16. You’re in the right place. The POD Expess is listed in the POD Go section of the Products pages.
  17. I see this paragraph in the manual pg 34 that I think answers your question: Sound Control Panel - This button launches the Windows Sound Control Panel, where you can optionally configure POD Express to be the audio playback device for multi-media applications (such as Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc.) The settings within the Windows Sound Control Panel are not relevant for your DAW software, since standard multi-media applications utilize the standard Windows driver.
  18. Why is this such a deal breaker? What is it that the lack of this control prevents you from doing? If we can get an understanding of that perhaps we can offer an alternative that you can use with the HX One. The HX One allows you to use only one FX model at a time, and it is used in conjunction with other equipment in your setup. The FX model in use at any time either has a Level control or it doesn’t. Those that don’t are actually modeling a real world pedal that also has no Level control. Imagine you were using this analog pedal with no Level control in your setup; how would you handle that? Presumably you adjust to the lack of this control by adjusting other equipment in your setup. Or would you simply not use any analog pedal without a Level control? If that’s it the answer is simple - just don’t use the HX One digital models either.
  19. Connect your monitors directly to the POD Go audio outputs.
  20. I don’t see anywhere in the manual where this list of ‘things stored in a preset’ is defined. Can you point me to it? If it’s not defined in the manual then I don’t know where you are getting the idea that there is something called Preset Level (the last item in the list) that is separate from the Level parameter that is included in some but not all ‘FX model settings’. To my understanding there is no such thing. In short, if the real-world analog pedal being modeled has no Level parameter then neither does the digital model, and there is no separate Preset Level in the model. I don’t think I can be any more clear than that. I think you understand fully but simply wish it were otherwise. It ain’t. Continuing to ask for clarification won’t change anything.
  21. Yes, there is a Level parameter for many individual FX models. If there is one on the original analog pedal being modeled then it also appears in the digital model. But there is no master/global Level control for all presets, which is what I think you are asking.
  22. I believe you can re4cord a maximum of 2 tracks simultaneously. The default is 1 track/tone but you can enable Dual Tone mode. The 4 inputs provide you with an instrument, Line, or Mic input option for each Tone/track.
  23. Any feature or capability that is not described in the manual does not exist in the device. I don’t see the feature you describe in the manual. Hence, ….
