  1. Yep A button on the amp. Try switching the leads on the Uno too. For some odd reason mine goes In/In and Out/Out.
  2. New: its tough as I would go modeler -> power amp/cab or FRFR monitor Used: Next step up from a Flex III for an all inclusive L6 amp -> Vetta II :D The amount of options out there are crazy. The Flex II (based off the Pod 2.0) still sound really good to me too. (Flex III is the XT)
  3. Some do some don't - always start with the vol on the HD low. Its HD on -> amp on. Amp off -> HD off.
  4. That is normal as you are bypassing it all going right in. Lower the Master Volume on the HD and use it as you would the amp's controls.
  5. For S&Gs I would try another usb/midi cable the MAudio Uno is the 1 that usually works.
  6. FWIW I've used a Rocktron Velocity, Tech21 Power Engine 60 (1x12) - The 4x10 PE60 came in and I haven't had the chance to "dust it out" yet. :)
  7. I can't tell you off hand what safe mode should look like (knock on wood) my Flex 3 hasn't needed it yet. There might not be a visual clue per se but it should allow Monkey to reflash it. I guess the big question is: Is the midi/usb connection good? What adaptor are you using? Hopefully its not bricked.
  8. Try holding down the "A" button as you start it (puts it into safe mode). Then connect it and get Monkey to reflash it. I would download the flashfile to your computer first and choose "flash from file".
  9. Sweet - glad you got it back - the XT still has oodles of tone in it. :)
  10. Hope it works, if you can see them on the device all should be good. The have the FX- in front of the choice in Gearbox.
  11. Register the new one. Run License Manager and authorize it. The packs are linked to your account. Edit: Be sure to connect the XT to the pc too. ;)
  12. Economy picking vs strict alternating picking? Here is an answer you will love: it depends. :) I look at what is to be played and what speed I can cleanly play it at. Say 2-3 string arps, if they are going to be repetitive figures I generally will sweep the 3s and economy pick the 2s - for me its safe and secure. The alternating pick direction for 2 string arps trip me at quick speeds. Thanks to Frank Gambale I do economy picking by habit (bad sometimes). General scale type runs = alternating is the goal nice & crisp. It can be tough trying to break bad habits but slow and steady practice will do it. I wouldn't sweat it too much everyone learns at different speeds. Thankfully for me legato can cover a lot of sins. :)
  13. Troy Grady - Master of Mechanics: For picking it is a masterclass.
  14. I used a XTL into a Power Engine 60 for years. Always sounds great and the amp has an XLR for going to board if needs be. For the Pro I have ran it through a R-Tron Velocity 120 into a stereo 2x12. Running Studio Direct btw. I would not go headphones out as there is no point - read the manual and you will see the amount of options. Going to an amp my preference is to go into the FX Loop.
  15. Well register it - run the License Manager and try to authorize it. If all else fails reflash the unit and repeat. 9/10 if the unit shows the pack installed its there.
  16. We have some pretty talented guys here who do record and I am sure they will pop by with some suggestions. I hate to recommend items I don't use or haven't tried. Myself: I've used a small 4-channel Alesis mixer which has a USB out just to give you an example. But usually its Pod HD direct into the DAW though. As a first go more than likely a small compact model (no high $$$) will do to learn on and some great work can be done on them.
  17. You really don't even need to go the UX route - there are many choices out there. Small mixer with USB out for example. Depending on the OS of your computer be sure to read up on any compatibility issues too. Pretty cool you are scoring gear for your daughter btw. ;)
  18. You could pick up a used audio interface and use the headphone out of the Spider to go into it. It would probably allow for the keys to be recorded as well (which is neat as usually those come with a heap of drum patterns).
  19. You must have the Flex Plus then. Which has to have the ext cab plugged in to go stereo. But yes you should be good to go as you are going in after the preamp. I have a Flex II Plus but usually run it in mono but I was running a GSP1101 in it and it was great no loss of signal. Keep in mind that you have to pop a dummy jack in the input to get everything to work without the Flex Preamps.
  20. Do a quick google search for Meambobbo HD500 and absorb all you can from that site. For some odd reason my work access blocks the site. :) foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/setup and just browse around here in the forums there is gold in here.
  21. The fizz is there and just like the XT if you learn to use the EQ you can dial it out. The sounds IMO are improved The 500x has additional DSP. If you are one to add lots of FX with dual amp paths go the X route. If you are not a heavy FX user then the non-X should be fine. BTW be sure to check out the HD Model packs as some of the fave XT/X3 amps were added back.
  22. "it" = ? No FX = Lack of. You should probably explain things a bit. You are not being charged per word. :D
  23. Yikes "x" cable method? Flex: serial loop inserted after the preamp/fx. IMO to go parallel you would need a mixer. The HD can pan FX L or R depending where the fx blocks are. Keep in mind that adding a mono block after will sum the signal back to mono combining what was intended to be two separate chains. The Flex does have L & R channels for the FX loop so it does do stereo. That is one jumble of a paragraph but it seems like you want to use the Flex Pre amp AND the HD together. You may not want to use the Flex's pres and just go HD into the loop. You should invest some time in the manuals and do a search in the forums as many of these questions are answered in a more lengthy manner. Hope that helped you somewhat :)
  24. Thanks my man, I wedged it back after rebending the spring tabs and its in a workable position. Not great but usable. I will keep the tips in mind if I have to reopen it. -Bill
