  1. Charles in Charge was amusing I admit. :) Ole Scott Biao really soared after "Joanie Loves Chachi". Bwhahahaha!! \m/
  2. Damn those VanPattons!!!! BTW not to derail the convo but "eggs are ok again" right? :P -Old Bill
  3. I hear ya Brazz-meister. I've got my trusty ESP 7 and before I got it I thought 7 strings were not for me. Love them now. 8 is enough....... hmmmm good title for a tv show ;)
  4. There is something to be said for tonal overlap. 7-8 string guitars, baritones et al have a place. Who knows how it will evolve. Google 10 string bass guitars, then 12 etc.. it does look like there is a string war.

    FRFR ?

A clean power amp and cab sounds awesome! Rocktron Velocity -> cab or I usually use a Tech 21 Power Engine 60. Try it into a tube power amp - real tasty. Its how I run it and have to no plans to change. But FRFR sounds great too - setup is a breeze pop into the PA and call it a day. The versatility is the beauty of the HD series, you really can't say one is better without going into personal preference. -B
  6. I am not sure about the Korg, but I have used a Rocktron Midimate, (Midi X-Change & Tech 21 Midi Mouse - just preset changes for these) and an ART X-11 and X-15 with the XTs. Its been a while but if it can send the cc it should be doable. The cc #s should be in the manual somewhere if not just do a quick search. -B
  7. If you like DVD as practice tools there are a couple of goods ones by Lick Library. A buddy had a few covering the modes and they were pretty nice with jam tracks. They were a lot easier for him then me showing him, then sending him home with my scribbles on paper. :) Check out their website as the do have a lot of courses tons of good starter ones.
  8. Velcro a couple pads on the side and use a few Velcro cable ties as loops to hold the cord running where you want. As long as you aren't going ape lollipop it will hold.
  9. Heavy guitar = heavier metal!!!! I want to hear some djent chugging on that 0.266 gauge string. The elusive "brown" note is out there. \m/
  10. You can use a midi controller (Rocktron Midi Mate, Art X-11, X-15, etc..) too btw.
  11. I had seen something like that but on a smeller scale. Thunderstick? But holy carp batman what would the tuning be and is there a discount for a 3 pack of strings? Bill (ps: can I get a Floyd on that?)
  12. Sorry Dude the cable is not meant for that. The midi/usb cable is for patch generation and loading into the unit). You should look into audio interfaces or possibly going into the soundcard. -B
  13. Hmmmm if you purchased a separate Gearbox license (not a Toneport that must be connected in order to authorize Gearbox) you might have to shoot L6 an email. If you bought a Toneport (way back when) than that was used as a dongle to authorize Gearbox. AFAIK Gearbox is not usable on its own if you got it that way. I could be wrong but that is my understanding.
  14. It does but I can't think of a MFX that doesn't behave like that. At practice I use the volume pedal at 1/2 position and take note of what tunes need to have more patch volume. Lets me adjust when I get home to try and normalize things. Mind you I am not going 6 amps and 10 banks into it. :)
  15. Try www.fullcompass.com They have a bunch of L6 parts. -B
  16. and boy are my arms tired...... (ba ba bop!) :D
  17. Well my man this is a "user support" forum, its probably the none of us have had that specific issue and are going "huh?" ourselves. If a firmware flash and a recalibration don't work I would submit a support ticket to Line 6 (follow the link at the top of the page -> support) where the actual company can give you some more info on what to try prior to sending it in for service. -B
  18. Don't have a DT or know about the guts but I wonder if it has a thermistor in there that shuts it down. Normally an oopsie like that takes the output transformer out which is repairable.
  19. Try this: Okay folks, I may have solved this! I have not tried any of the mic inputs, but the guitar inputs are working now without any cracking or distortion. Open your Line 6 Audio-Midi Devices from the System Preferences (located in the "other" section on the bottom of the System Preferences. Under the driver tab, click on the "Run Audio Midi Setup" button. On the window that pops up...change the "format" from 44000.0 Hz to 48000.0 Hz. Ensure that, to the right of this number, you see "2ch-24bit." I will post again in a few days an let you know if this fix is stable. I've uploaded a PNG file with my new settings. Okay, I feel a solo coming on that I have to record. Cheers. Skip. Taken from: http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/43818/ -B
  20. http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/pod/pod-x3/pod-x3-series-factory-reset-reflash-and-firm-r412 That or http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/74577/ The 2nd one goes into safe mode where IIRC you can check things like the pedal cal and memory. Might be something went bad and a support tick might be needed to be sent in. Link at the top "support". Hope it works. -B
  21. You may be better served by just doing a google search (for exp. "UX2 distortion and crackling") stuff like that. This IE 11 is keeping me from pasting links so I am a bit screwed right now doing that. BUT there was a thread which found out it was a grounding issue which was fixed by plugging everything into the same power strip. FWIW. I recommend that prior to surgery. :) -B
  22. I don't have a Mac so I can't help you if its a system issue. But try a different usb port and look for the El Capitain threads in here. You can always try it on a different PC if you have that option. The cables generally don't go bad but can sometimes.
  23. Hey Brazzy - I know enough to know when to stop. :P Good luck on the TV - have to get that puppy fixed as playoffs are here! -B
  24. That's true Brazzy. In the 90s I ran across a bunch of motherboards that were using a really bad batch of caps that showed up on a variety of boards. If the cap didn't pop its top or bulge the old boy wasn't about to solder unsolder random parts :) I can't hazard a guess as to the caps causing pops and cracks. -B
  25. That's usually the problem with "pre-rolled" patches. Though I have to admit Glen Delaune's have sounded real good (a buddy had some of the X3 ones). I haven't tried the HD ones of his yet but Glen is on the board and seems like he would be more than willing to help tweak them. Check out his Metal Masters for the HD - I really love the demos.
