  1. Any local music shop at the event that can sponsor your band? A nice advert at the end of your set can be beneficial to them (AND LINE 6).
  2. Yes, already done so, as mentioned on my last post, which I think you didn't see. ☺
  3. Hi, sorry but I have been the above proble reoccurring again... sorry for the confusion, too many tweaks/settings changes. Hopefully the matter is resolved now, after participating on another thread. Things seem stable at the moment. Read this and follow the easy video instructions, hopefully it will work for you. http://line6.com/support/topic/26710-pod-hd500x-causing-crash-in-reaper/?p=208644
  4. dannedeboer Thank you for posting the link for optimising windows10 for sound creation, the ste-by-step video is great. I actually had done most of these tweaks in the past but not all. Also I was allowing windows to make the updates and some settings were reset to their default state, that did not help either. I made all the adjustments seconds after my previous post and used Reaper, Edit and Workbench HD, switching and making lots of tone alteration for the JTV69. It worked flawlessly until now. Will give it a thorough test tomorrow (I mean later today) but I feel very optimistic about it now. The laptop is now setup JUST for studio music, no more internet or Windows updates. Cheers
  5. Glad you are getting there! My situation is mostly solved too, meaning that it does occasionally crash but nothing like it used to. I can get a couple of hours of use before it giving up. The Line 6 driver is definitely contributing to the problem.
  6. Good day all! I have been trying to win this constant battle with my HP laptop and the HD500 crashing constantly. WELL, I don't want to count my chickens yet BUT... it seems quite stable up to now. What have I done? 1 set the screen resolution to Intel's recommended Default. This setting was previously changed to make the icons bigger. The Intel applet does actually state that changing the resolution can give errors and even damage the chipset (why in hell it's allowed to change these settings if it can damage things is beyond me). 2 set the graphic card's Text to its default mode, in my case 125%. 3 right click the Reaper icon and select compatibility mode to run the program as administrator and tick the box above saying Disable Display scaling on High DPI. 4 Stop and disable Windows Search in Services 5 SWITCH FLIGHT MODE ON if you have this setting. It definitely contribute to my crashes, but it's not the main culprit. If this works for your setup then happy days! Is so, create a new text file on your desktop and write the steps you took to resolve the problem, you will thank me for it. Before taking these steps I couldn't load Reaper, Audacity, iTunes, or Guitar Rig 4 without getting the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). Now I have HD Edit, Reaper, and iTunes open at the same time and working happily. Another thing, I am using the POD's ASIO Driver within Reaper. Let me know how it goes.
  7. The only solution I can think of is to purchase another audio interface and feed that with the line out from the pod. The thing is, would you trust Line 6 with your next big purchase?
  8. This is ridiculous Line 6... I have had the same problem for years. It is not Reaper as it will happen also when using iTunes and Guitar Rig 4. My laptop is 1 year old with every driver updated to the current version. It's not the memory or the cable either. I already have a different thread from months ago. For a very short while I though it got resolved, but it's not. Maybe to do with memory assignment conflict due to a buggy driver, something I once read online. I hope that you have more luck than me on resolving it. Just wondering if the Helix has the same problem.
  9. I can now say the matter seems solved. Left th laptop running Reaper an HD Edit for 24 hours straight and it worked flawlessly. Can't say it was to do with one particular alteration made though. Also made sure that the computer was in FLIGHT MODE. There seems to be a bug that allows flight mode to be shown (the Plane symbol on the task bar) and still be able to connect to the wireless network. This happened when I first switched the Flight mode and then clicked the wireless icon. I had a problem with using the mouse on Reaper while trying to adjusting the pan dial (and any other round pots such as volume). This IS to do with a bug with Windows 10 or/and Reaper. A zoom level 125% on the graphics caused that. Once set at 100% it works just fine. I then changed the display's resolution so that the suited my needs. Anyway I am a happy chap now.
  10. Cheers for that. I already done all of that BUT... the video driver on my laptop had been updated automatically just a couple of weeks ago, then three days ago I received a message from the HP control panel telling me I have 2 new updates, one being a video driver. Using the HP applet I tried to install it but failed to complete the task. I downloaded the Intel driver checking program and it mentioned that my laptop graphic card is customised by HP and it wouldn't be able to update its driver because it could cause problems with the operating system. So I uninstalled the existing one from within Device Manager, then re-run the HP applet and successfully installed the driver. During the installation I was alerted to the fact that this driver was older than the previous one already on the computer, but remembered the Intel message, about the customised video driver and so accepted this older driver from HP. The previous one must have been from Microsoft. Anyway, I have also made some modification to the USB CABLE... Talking to someone that knows his stuff I was adviced that INTERFERENCE to the USB cable can result in the computer crashing. So, I have taped a couple of turnings of tin foil at the USB plugs and added another choke bead at the opposite end fro the existing one. This may just be a waste of time or may not but I had to try it. Rebooted the laptop, loaded HS Edit and Reaper and left it on, playing a looped audio project. So far, 5 hours in the test and had no problem. I left it on so it can run overnight... will find out the outcome tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.
  11. I will update and try an old laptop next week and report back
  12. I too having some problem when using Reaper. Trying to assess if it's to do with the POD, its driver or Reaper. My hunch isn't The HD500.
  13. That is a good point. At the moment it's set as the default audio for all of the system BUT I have made it sure to only have one audio application in use at one given time. It may be possible that other hidden services are trying to access the driver. Another couple of things that I'm looking at are, different cable and EMI interference. Since I used another USB cable, the BSOD has diminished in occurrences by an estimated 2/3 in a day. This cable has the choke magnet at the computer's end, not as the original with the choke at the POD's end. Tonight I am leaving the laptop run Reaper WITHOUT the HD500 connected, to see if it will reboot. The last time it failed, it messed up the POD HD500 badly... the computer rebooted, I loaded HD Edit, it wouldn't recognise the POD AND there was no sound coming out of the headphone output. I disconnected both the USB and the power adapter, waited 15 seconds, re-connected all back.... NO SOUND! Disconnected all again and waited 60 seconds before re-connected alll back and it all worked. Had a visual inspection of the POS's USB socket and it looks fine.
  14. The ASIO Driver does crash the computer too.
  15. Every item within Device Manager has been checke for updates and applied.USB also checked. No difference.
  16. I know what you mean but when I used to use my old tascam AI Asio4all was better than its own driver.
  17. Blue screen of death when using the HD500 and the laptop with Windows10. Mainly when using Reaper but at times also when using iTunes. Procedures: 1) switch the laptop on 2) open HD Edit 3) open Reaper 4) start to use Reaper and between 30 seconds and 10 minutes (random) it crash the operating system with a BSOD. The code is mostly different... some times is to do with BAD_POOL, but mainly it's some problem with a L6HD564.SYS (or similar, sorry I'm not near my laptop. What have I tried to do to resolve this? 1) disabled all other sound devices and cameras too. 2 used the Flight mode ON mode. 3) power management is set for high performance 4) updated ALL drivers in Device manager 5) updated the bios 6) removed the HD500 driver and downloaded and installed the current driver from Line 6 7) checked the memory and Disc drive, used defragmenter and CCcleaner for cleaning the registry. The crash has been at random sometimes everything works fine even if I use the Asio4all and with multiple sound cards. Switch everything off, the next morning try again and everything crashes. What is the problem? My laptop is 1 year old i7 with 8gb of memory And 2tb HDD. I submitted a Ticket also but any help is appreciated.
  18. Just done so.Will start new post now.
  19. I would like to add that my last ticket about problem with customtone downloads was not even answered by Line 6.
  20. I have read many posts on this forum and the Webb for a solution to it . Other members got no joy by submitting a ticket so I feel that I would be wasting more of my time. I guess it is time for me to submit a ticket... before I cut my wrists. I will write the communication in a new post, to spare others some pain.
  21. Line 6 is unlikely to resolve this problem for us. They have known of this problem for years now... plenty of complains. As I have serious back problem and can't do much bending down, I found best to save the presets from within the edit software then when recalling it back, I move the espression pedal up and down (mine is set for amp channel volume change, Min.20% - Max 50%), then the stored volume change is restored. Now, doing so the HD Edit will show the asterisk on the current patch (because you moved the espression pedal), take no notice of this. The way to remove it is to restore the already saved preset from the HD Edit (top left of the screen. Another way that has worked for me is to move one or both sliders in the mixer and the reset them, then do the restore procedure as above. From then on pressing the foot switches back and forth it seem to be working just fine. Like I said... this works for me and hope it will for you too. I do have another headache with the Line 6 ASIO driver supplied for the HD500... get the BSOD (blue screen of death) on my laptop. Here too it seems to be no help from Line 6. Makes me want to give it all up.
  22. You say that the recording is done through the analogue outputs... Check that the pots on the analogue input/s are not dirty, making a bad contact. This ca affect volume changes.
  23. I still think that if Line6 releases an editor for the pod or any other product for that matter it has to make it sure that the thing works. What is the point of trying to edit something on the computer and not being able to save it. The least that they could do is to REMOVE the Send to the device (or whatever it's called) icon from the Edit software and instead have a Big ICON that reminds you to save from the HD500. Actually... it might be best not having an editor at all if it can't be working as it is meant to! I have used my Pod for about 4 years now and got used to it but hell I have lost alot of hair... partly because of it. :D If only computers would stick to their "routines"... :P
  24. That's one of the reasons that I hesitate buying line6 products... it's annoying to have to go through the forum's posts to asses if a particular product is working without a glitch, before deciding if to purchase it. I am interested in an Helix but have no idea of its problems. Line6 would do me, you and themselves a favour if they release their products AFTER sorting out Software and hardware problems.
  25. My HD500 has had the Save bug since first purchased, no matter how many updates the unit has it give unpredictable results, sometimes it will save without any problems and on other times it won't. The asterisk (*) is always visible on the HD500's screen during editing through the computer. Throughout the editing I can hear the changes being made, the I send the patch to the Pod and it saves it. The asterisk it still showing on the Pod. What happens next is what it's likely to happen to many of us... you go to select a different preset that it was edited on an earlier occasion and find that the volume is too loud or quiet. VERY FRUSTRATING!! The solution is (in my case) to simply move the espression pedal up and down, or move the volume strips in the mixer screen on the computer, then do put them back where they were originally. This will tell you if the preset was already saved but to add more confusion, you doing this fiddling, the preset has now changed. All you have to do now is click restore FROM the the HD500 on the computer. 90% of the time I just move the espression pedal, then click Restore and it seem to be working. The other way is to save on the pod itself. The problem has been there no mater what computer I have used it with.
