Dt 25 Firmware Update Problem

Yesterday i tried to update firmware on my DT25 but without success.

First I tried with cheap ebay midi coverter but with no succes.

Today I bought M-Audio Uno but again with no succes :(

I just followed steps from user manual. I even tried powering in safe mode but again same problem.

Every time I get this message Code 8000000A error.

My operating system is Windows 7 64-bit.

I tried same thing on different notebook with Windows XP but again I get same error message.

Anybody knows what is going on?

did you actually go to the m-audio site and get the latest drivers?

if not, you'd basically still be using the generic drivers that your cheapie used.

I had a tough time getting the update to take myself.  When using monkey, make sure you are logged in.  I think I had a problem trying to use a downloaded version of the update and not logging in on monkey.  Once I logged in the update took.

I got the same thing when I updated awhile back and I ended up having to update from file. U can find directions on monkey to do this. Had nothing to do sith the cables. I was using an Maudio mini sport usb to midi.

I tried with another laptop with XP SP3 and new M-Audio drivers and after third attempt finally I made it!

Update the firmware to 2.0.

I tried to repeat again  just to check is that a correct way but again I failed to connect to Monkey.

I think i will quit now.

Because they can barely even get MIDI working on the DT, and USB is a much more complicated protocol? I would assume they just couldn't be bothered.

 

What I wanna know is why the POD can send midi in/out its midi ports, but not over USB.. that's plain retarded, and the only reason is 'can't be bothered'. I wanna control looper software with the pods footswitches, but to do this, I need to use a midi->usb cable, which costs extra. A cost which Line6 transferred to me when they thought it was enough to just add midi ports to the machine so they can write 'MIDI compatible' on the spec sheet and marketing blurbs, and save themselves the week or two it'd take to implement midi over usb, and in so doing, make something actually useful.

 

My more cynical view is that they named their connectivity software after the poor creature who coded their drivers, usb and midi implementations. I've built my own midi devices and also implemented midi over usb, so I feel qualified to speculate.

I'm having the exact same issue here.

Using M-Audio Uno, inculding with the latest version of driver, I'm using a Mac 10.9.2 and the latest Monkey

Tried to install a downloaded version of the firmware too, but still didn't work.

Note that monkey can't determine the current firmware version installed on my DT25

What can I do now?

Then try to put amp in safe mode if that don't work change in and out on midi cable.

It is very frustrating job. I finally made it after 5 hours and I can't repeat it again :(

For people trying several MIDI interaces in a row: Uninstall earlier device from your puter before installing new device drivers.

 

For windows users. You need to choose your MIDI device from your sounds control panel. If not changed, there is Microsoft GS wawetable blahblah as factory setting and you can't connect your DT. I believe there is something simiar in Macs as well.

The 5 hours may be the solution, but here is what I did, (I'm running Windows 8)

 

1.  Loaded the latest driver for the M-Audio Uno.

2,  Found out my computer has both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, (only USB 2.0 works with the Uno)

3.  Downloaded and saved the patch file.

4.  Tried all the suggestions above, nothing worked so after 1 1/2 hours I shut everything down and had dinner.

5.  Came back 3 hours later, and I turned on the DT 25 with my Uno connected to the computer. Also had my HD500 connected by USB, but not to the DT25.

6.  Turned on the computer and fired up Line Monkey. It recognized the HD 500, but had to find the DT25. Changed the MIDI in & out settings to UNO.

7.  Tried loading the update but it crashed again, (got an 80000002 error which is can't find the device).

8.  Clicked on the Find Device button on Line Monkey and it found the DT25 again.

9.  Updated the DT 25 using the file I downloaded and........... IT WORKED!

 

I'm not sure what made it finally work, so I just listed everything I did. I don't think having the HD500 connected made a difference, but who knows.  If I were to guess, it was shutting everything done for a while and trying again, (letting the frustration level drop). The second time I also had to log into Line Monkey instead of the typical auto log in. Maybe try logging in and out and see if that works.

 

Now off to see what this update can do!

Just got a DT25 myself yesterday, reading all these FW upgrade problems everyone is having, and knowing how much fun I had trying to upgrade my Variax when I got it, I don't think I'll bother upgrading :)

 

I already have an HD500X, so an upgrade won't give me any additional benefits anyway, will it?

upgrading gives you a TON of flexibility as well as fixing a number of issues (default amp settings and L6LINK related mostly)

these issues upgrading are not typical... I've upgraded mine numerous times without issues.

 

Just got a DT25 myself yesterday, reading all these FW upgrade problems everyone is having, and knowing how much fun I had trying to upgrade my Variax when I got it, I don't think I'll bother upgrading :)

i've done the update with the 5$ ebay interface... but the m-audio uno is farm more reliable. they run about 40$

 

the 5$ interface thing is finicky... sometimes it depends on your computer and the phase of the moon. :D

I think this is what happened to me when I did the update. I don't remember having a big problem though and for a non-pro like myself. When I have issues like this I step back and play the guitar while thinking about which different route I need to take to get the result I want.

May as well try and get hold if the M-Audio then, sounds like an extra $35 is a small price to pay for the lack of frustration, remembering just how frustrating updating my Variax was !

I actually bricked my DT-25 head 3 weeks after I bought it while trying to update the firmware.  I had to take it back to the shop, aaaannnnd 4 months later......I finally got it back.  They said they had to replace a chip in it.  Sorry, I forgot the details.  It works fine now, but that was a ridiculously long time to have to wait to get it back.

Yeah, but that was mostly because of the store I bought it from.  Plus I don't think being in Canada helped.

 

Basically they said they shipped it to line6  so I waited 6-8 weeks before calling the store.  Then they said line6 was going to ship me an new one.  ...then a few weeks later still nothing.  I call again etc..  this went back and forth for a few weeks.  Then I call again and they say one of their guy's was working on it and it was fixed.  It was supposed to be there that week.... got no call.  then 2-3 weeks later I call again, and they said it was in, and sitting in their warehouse.  :/

 

I don't think I'll be buying from them anymore.  I'd rather go across the boarder to Seattle, and pay the duty than go through that hassle again.

The amps power tubes went cold. I let it sit to cool and then it would work for like an hour then when I shut it down the power tubes never lit back up, this behaior went on a few times. I have a thread about it.

I went there and read through it.

 

Here I can only comment on length of time in repair.  It would depend on how good the repair facility is, how available the replacement parts are, and the nature of the original issue (intermittent or constant).

 

For a gigging musician this could be a financial loss to be without the amp for days/weeks to service center.

 

Even for amateur musician, not fun to be without amp.

 

Are still in original factory warranty?

Glad Ya read it, Thanks for your input. I see you have the DT50 Head also. I think this amp sounds really great and I love it's abilities with the HD500 and X3Pro. I understand about the possibilities of delays as I have experience in the service industry, but it's always a dissappointment, lol. Thankfully, I'm not gigging with this amp. It will be missed whenever it's not ready to play. I actually had some trouble trying to find a tech close in this area, the first place on Line 6's service center page recommended a place that seemingly went out of business so I kept going down the list getting farther away until I found someone who answered the phone. I should be able to take in very soon.

you can restore the amp to factory defaults by pinching the topo/pent switches together and then powering the amp on.

hold together until the amp lights start flashing, then the amp will do it's thing and restore to defaults.

not sure how long you've waited but it can take 3 business days to hear back from support....

that and if you call it needs to be between 9-6 PACIFIC time monday through friday (USA)

Hi Guys . I have the same problem.

 

Tried to update firmware om my dt25. I receive error 8000000A. tried multiple Times and now my amp head is dead, switches dont respond, no sound.

 

I did it on windows 10 and 8. I used Alesis MIDI Usb cable, theres no drivers for it but it was recognized on both systems automatically. tried to swich in and out cables all the ways possible.

 

I also cant put my dt25 back to where it was using instructions provided (topo and pentodÄ™ together while powering)

Is it still even possible to download different preamps into to DT series amps? I seem to remember reading that in one of the threads on here, after buying my DT25. So, I haven't even tried. I'd love to know for sure. Is anyone certain, one way or the other?

I`m having the same problem, tried to update firmware and now the amp is frozen, putting it in a safe mode doesn`t work.

I used M-Audio Uno midi interface, nevest drivers installed, tried on win 7 64, win 8.1 64, win 10, newest monkey installed, switching cables every way, using different usb ports,

nothing worked. I was in contact with Line6 support and they reccomended to send it back to seller for warranty repair. Very frustating, now i will be without amp for at least 4 weeks.

I finally got the update to work on my DT25, after many, many attempts. Like a lot of people I cannot specify exactly how, as your mind goes numb eventually, but, in a nutshell:

 

I failed with a cheapo midi interface, so bought a Midiport Uno which came today. (I'm not convinced it was this that made the difference though- more likely blind perseverance) I updated the M-Audio drivers, already had the latest Monkey, and connected it IN/IN OUT/OUT in violation of the 'official' advice.

 

My pc has several usb ports, and I struck gold at the third attempt (the one I use to charge my mobile phone). While using a different usb the amp was recognised by Monkey, and showed the software as V1.0, but duing update it came up with a different error code. Anyway I switched to the other usb and Monkey recognised the DT25 but couldn't see the software version, so I went for it and several minutes later it successfully completed!

 

I think the moral is- try all the usb ports, and (in the case of the Uno) connect the midi plugs in-in. Perhaps some manufacturers are guilty of second-guessing their customers?

 

Either way, it finally worked so I am now a happy bunny ;)

is this really so hit and miss? is it really just sit there and keep trying and one day it'll happen?

 

does Paul Hindmarsh know about this? :D

 

edit - also tried the safe mode thing and I also did the reset to factory settings....
