Even Fender Admits.....
clay-man replied to TheRealZap's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
That's actually pretty impressive. Better than Gibson's "innovative" crap. -
I've found backing up your setlist and reflashing usually helps.

If Line 6 and Fractal joined forces we'd have modeling amps that sound better than valve amps.

Variax 600 tremolo set screw
clay-man replied to es336td's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Metric. I couldn't find smaller than an M4 so I ordered mine online. -
I hear the similarity between the bomber and elektrik now. It's funny how people don't like newer better things somehow. It's not THAT different.

Variax 600 tremolo set screw
clay-man replied to es336td's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Definitely an M3. Mine juts out a bit, so if you don't want it sticking out then get a really short M3 setscrew. -
Very great. I suggest installing graphtech ghost pickups if you're tired of the pickups failing, especially if you're going to go through the trouble of installing magnetic pickups.

wait, I thought elektrik was a custom amp model

Make sure your USB port is ok. Try different USB cables and USB ports on the computer. Try resetting your patches.

Everything is top shape but that USB port. Thanks for the reply, I know these type of topics kinda scare people away cause they don't want to give a wrong answer to something big like this. The usb thing just makes flashing the POD incredibly scary to do because I run into errors from time to time until switching the port or restarting monkey. Everything else works like a charm, but I'd also rather not wait until the plastic part falls out again when the super glue gives out. Hopefully I won't run into the ribbon cable problem like the guy in the video, just want to disassemble without too much trouble.
-
So I think I'm going to go through with the USB port swap when I get my soldering iron. The plastic piece was apparently broken, and I already ended the return request and I don't think I can do anything about that anymore. Right now it's super glued back in and I stretched the prongs out to contact the USB cable better, it works fine but reflashing sometimes gives me errors and requires me switching USB ports on my computer and restarting monkey. If anyone can help me with documentation about disassembling a HD500 then please post. I've heard that some people need to replace the chip. Do I need to? The USB works fine, just needs replacing as it's flimsy. Moving the cable in the port doesn't cause any disconnects or anything, but I'd rather just not worry about it anymore.

HELP: Is there any way I can reformat the system in my Line6 HD300
clay-man replied to matthewmacorol's topic in POD HD
Try different ports, different usb cables. Check the port on the HD300 to see if it's ok. I'm pretty sure you can't virtually block a POD unless there's something physically preventing you to flash it correctly. There should be a core BIOS that will tell the computer that it's a POD being plugged in, not the flash. -
Looking for a graphtech nut for my 600. Please help
clay-man replied to clay-man's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
Thanks but I've already ordered, if things go bad I'll check that out if I ruin this nut. Chances are that I wont though. -
I think they should allow us to use FX out as an official second output option. People said that the POD might not have multiple D/A converters for Line 6 to let us split outputs in the other outputs, but it's obvious that the loop section has it's own output section. The POD is amazing but it's seriously lacking in the Individual Outputs department.

It's like a mid range honky twang, but not appealing like a strat or tele twang. I'd suggest trying to swap for another JTV. I think it'll be there to some extent, just shouldn't be there so strongly. It makes the Les Paul setting unusable in E standard imo, especially for palm muting. Just sounds really awkward. I personally made an "SG" patch for the non HD firmware which gets rid of this problem, sounds really good. Like I've said, trade for a different one because I'm sure someone tried to send theirs in for this problem only to be told it's not broken. Also, what firmware are you using?

Because the guitar modeling is not tracking anything unless you're using pitch shifting . Tracking in MIDI/synth means it's reading the waveform to get the pitch to output the new sound as. Tracking in pitch shifting isn't tracking the pitch in particular, but tracking the characteristics and waveform so it can rebuild the pitched waveform without being warbly. Modeling does not require any tracking alone because it's a process that doesn't have to wait to get a portion of the waveform to read any information, it just applied a complex frequency filter, but it can do that in realtime. This is why the JTV will have no latency until you have alt tuning on or 12 strings on, because all pitch shifters have latency. As for the PCM vs other sounds on the Roland, I don't know why, and it's a bit inexcusable of them. It should go through the same pitch tracking routine as the basic synth sounds, so I don't get why it would be slower on spitting out a PCM. A PCM is a wave sample.

Ordered this http://www.ebay.com/itm/380980252983?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Have had a problem with the pickup selector, used to be 1 registering as 2 once in a blue moon, now it's 1 registering as 4 more frequently now. Switched the switch a million times back and forth but nothing is helping so I thought it's time for some good old contact cleaner. Just wondering if I got a proper one or not.

There's been people who've complained about this yes. I have it on the Les Paul setting. Everything else is fine.

Looking for a graphtech nut for my 600. Please help
clay-man replied to clay-man's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
I just changed my strings and I'm not looking into changing my bridge. If this doesn't help tuning stability then I'm just going to have to live with not using a tremolo until I upgrade to a JTV. Thank you for the help though. Should I sand the top if it's too curved? Make the middle slots deeper and sand the top flat? -

Looking for a graphtech nut for my 600. Please help
clay-man replied to clay-man's topic in Variax Guitars / Bass / Workbench
I ordered this last night after measuring as best as I can. http://www.ebay.com/itm/111440272857?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Radius seems kinda rounder than the current nut so I ordered fret files in case I need to make the slots deeper. Hopefully I can FINALLY use my tremolo, ordered graphtech stringe trees as well. Wish me luck guys! -
Well yes, the cabinets are about bypassed on any mode other than Studio/Direct A Cabinet will roll off high ends which is way too harsh after distortion. It's basically a square wave without a cabinet. Any other mode will still use a cabinet simulator but basically a voicing option for your actual cab, not a full on cabinet simulator. Try to get to know the ins and outs of your pod more. It's not that hard.
