My new JTV-69 has bad modeling
Rewolf48 replied to mtreehugger's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
No true. In synthesis it is a trigger, but in a JTV the guitar modelling takes the signal from the peizo and manipulates it to sound like something else. The cleaner and fuller that signal the better the modelling result is. It is exactly the same a the Amp Models in the HD500. Alt tunings on a JTV are achieved by doing real-time pitch shifting on the 6 strings seperately. The Roland system is completely different in the way it works variax -
I have had no problems with HDEdit and an HD500 after upgrading from 8.1, but I might be missing the ASIO driver - or at least the ASIO driver isn't appearing as an option in Audacity, but I haven't checked it specifically as I could use the HD500 as the windows speakers which was good enough at the time. I know it doesn't help you, but I can confirm that it is possible to used HD Edit on Windows 10

I thought the single line of 1's was down to the button used to initiate the test being picked up as the test starts - if you hold that button down the second 1 doesn't change until you release it. There have been other threads about this, such as: http://line6.com/support/topic/5056-pod-hd500-unreliable-footswitches/?hl=switch&do=findComment&comment=101709 Everyone that has cleaned their switches has either just sprayed in the top, or has removed the bottom plate to access the circuits. I did the latter and only used compressed air with good results.

Jtv69 HD Firmware
Rewolf48 replied to arverutledal's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
You can use an empty patch on the HD to pass the signal through unaffected. The treatment can mean all the difference - have you heard the current firmware samples on the L6 site? http://uk.line6.com/variax-modeling-guitars/sound/ Admittedly that was through a Helix -

The picture which did work was of waking up from the matrix to discover that the whole world had been a simulation Lets not get into controversial off-topic conversations about science and religion; the only fact that you think you know is that "I Am" as in "I think and therefore I am" but you don't know for certain what "I Am" really is. Everything else is a matter of perception and how do you know for absolute certain that: a) All scientific evidence wasn't created to look old by the "creator" b) That what you believe to be the universe isn't just a personal simulation In fact none of us can be certain that any of the rest of people on this forum actually exist as the only evidence is a few posts. * of course this post itself is off-topic for the OP... sorry, but the Helix will ship when it does... assuming there is such a thing as time -

Oh come on... everybody knows that fossils are a joke put there by god when he created to the world! Or to be more precise in the simulation of the world that we know  -
My unofficial, just remembering from all the other threads answers: 1. Yes - Toe switch 2. Maybe - MIDI ones certainly but others I don't know 3. Yes - Have Amp and Cab as separate blocks - it is possible to route pre Cab out through one set of outputs to Power Amp and Cabs and post Cab Model through different outputs to FoH. 4, 2.5x the grunt of an HD500X which could do that, but Helix models are more expensive. 4 Full Amp models simultaneously might be possible but not a lot else. [good luck with the Powerball question]

Don't know; did you grab me by the humerus? -
It doesn't strictly synthesize sounds, but it does resonance (sitar and acoustics are most obvious of this), limited ADSR (banjo) and can add a related second note (12 string) on 6 strings independently, so there is potentially a lot that could be done. What it doesn't have is a LFO which is essential for many synth type sounds, but it should be possible to do more than replicate guitar variations. What sort of sounds were you thinking of?

I liked Arkadin's comment! Being from the UK but with half our company based in OH we see this sort of thing all the time... I did have to look up Xanax though as I didn't recognise the name, not that i know much about this. Had enough trouble in trips to the US when asking for "paracetamol" at Walgreens. Pharmacist said "never heard of it"... I said "its the most common pain killer in the world" but he shrugged his shoulders. It turns out that there is a common painkiller called para-acetylaminophenol which in most of the world is called paracetamol (para-acetylaminophenol) but in the US, Canada and Japan is called Acetaminophen (para-acetylaminophenol). That one gave me a headache just thinking about it...I mean who decided that one? And being previously in the Aircraft manufacturing business don't get me started on what the Helix case is made from..... -
The problem most people will be having is knowing what is the "reference system" that is the flat response where all patches are built? Until I got my L2t (and at the same time some relatively good headphones) I had no reference for "flat", and I had been compensating for deficiencies in my sound system in each patch... and having major problems of course in different rooms and different sound levels. Ironically now I have Global EQ I don't use it because I have quality sound reinforcement that means I don't need it... but maybe I will have a bad room soon when I am relying on my L2t as backline and it's built in EQ can't cope...[don't mention Global EQ not working over L6Link ;)]

HD only supports stereo IN and OUT over USB, and the 1/4 and XLR are connected together - the only difference between them (apart from signal level) is that a single 1/4 connection gets summed L+R while XLR maintains stereo separation at all times. So yes you can have sound output from the 4 physical outputs (6 if you include headphone L/R as well), but it will be the same stereo signal going to all outputs (except the 1/4 which will give L+R if only a single socket is used). Helix we have been promised gives simple re-amping, but I haven't seen any demonstration of this or how the I/O is routed in practice; but I do know that 8 in/8 out USB has been promised which means that you can have 8 independent outputs from your computer.

How do you get a "classic" sound if you don't have those classic tools? But I agree with you, I don't only want models of the common kit of long ago so that I can reproduce the common sounds of years gone by, I want the extraordinary kit.

In the HD500 the Pre Amp and Full Amp only differ in the modelling of the Power Amp contribution to the sound. A valve power-amp is an imperfect design that introduces distortions and which doesn't always respond well to fast changes. The HD500 models this in some detail including introducing the crossover distortion that you get when each side of the sine wave in a Class B amplifier circuit is amplified separately and the two halves are not perfect half sine waves (it exists on solid state designs too). Without the Power Amp model the HD simulates instead a perfect power amplifier at a nominal volume level (being perfect it's contribution doesn't change with volume), so you get the Pre Amp, a perfect power amp and the speaker if you have included one.

Because of the order in which things are placed - the L6 Link Output can be at the end of the chain or before the cab, but the Computer USB Output (Input to the HD500) comes after it, as does the CD/MP3 which also doesn't get fed into the L6 Link. The XLR outs do also get the USB output, but as a recent owner of a pair of L2t not having that as a USB output option is a bit restricting. You also can't feed an M20d mixer with a digital out from an HD500 which also seems a bit strange. HELIX is a different game altogether and there is mention of being able to have USB FX loops running e.g. USB from Helix to Computer, through a VST back to Helix for say an Amp simulation, then bock over USB to computer to another VST then back to Helix before being output to the amplification system. There might well be restrictions on how exactly this can be arranged - for example the USB in and out point may be at the ends of the paths, but the 4 paths can be arranged in series (32 blocks in a row) or in parallel (8 blocks each in 4 parallel paths) and probably 16 blocks in 2 paths - other combinations we might find out about when the manual appears (or somebody in the know contributes), but yes you can certainly output USB to L6Link but I don't know what compromises are required to achieve this

Not sure I like this - any idea that is of no immediate use to yourself you vote down so that your idea gets a relatively higher ranking. I would agree if people thought about the ideas properly and considered the scenarios where they would be used even though they personally haven't or wouldn't use them, but this is the internet were there are enough people that troll for the fun of it, or who like to start arguments, and that is before the multitude of native languages are considered. I think I would rather people just ignored Ideas that they don't think apply to them and reserve down-voting for where the idea would compromise the way that they work at the moment, and that they should comment to explain why they down voted. I have seen plenty of really good suggestions with negative votes and if the reason for the negative vote was "I wouldn't use that in my specific circumstances" then I think that is a shamefully self-centred attitude to take.

I suspect that this may not be possible with the current HD arcitecture, Helix is a different question On the HD it would be Guitar on A Path to Left Output and Vocals on B Path to Right output, but it would also allow effect spillover if delay effects were placed on the B path (vocals in your idea) and the A path was linked to the B path by connecting Left Out into Aux In.

I think you answered your own question... Pre's are really for DT Amp integration where the HD Pre Amp is then linked to the DT power amp and Cab. Or if you are using a real amp and cab and just want to replace the pre-amp (into FX Loop Return). But conveniently if you choose to use a Pre with Cab into an FRFR you get a slightly less accurate amp model, but more DSP to play with for other effects or a second amp. Having Pre and Full models and the ability to switch cabs (including No Cab) it would be strange not to offer all the possible combinations wouldn't it?

MS-100BT = $149.99 Helix = $1499.99 At the lower-end it feels great to have the option to spend more to get new features.... at the higher-end ... not so much

Ahh.. I found that Full Compass will ship internationally, but don't accept International (non-US) Credit Cards; maybe that is just the web-site. Thanks

I think that there is more than a hint of Satch to that clip...

IIRC you can be: * All Presets * All Stomp * Top Presets, Bottom Stomp * Bottom Stomp, Top Presets And other options as well - for example as with the HD500 you can program a Stomp mode button to do a patch change (with a MIDI loop)

M20D - First gig impressions.
Rewolf48 replied to mrguitartrader's topic in StageScape Mixer / StageSource Speakers
It's gone back up again - sometimes you have to be quick! https://www.studiospares.com/Studio-Gear/Mixers-Digital/Line-6-Stagescape-M20d-20-Input-Smart-Mixing-System_301490.htm Now £940, yesterday was Out Of Stock (no price), day before was £839.95 with 1 in stock. That second one - is that backup or to try these options?: http://line6.com/support/topic/9055-can-you-join-two-m20d-together/ -
I was just about to say the same!

I have seen elsewhere that Helix is 48KHz sample rate, so you are correct Duncan (correction to my earlier guess that it was 96k rate). Axe FX 2 UltraRes IRs are that big - yes, but the much more commonly used Hi Res are 2048 and Standard Res are 1024. Even the Axe FX 2 is limited in how many Ultra IRs it can process. I think DI said the ones build into Helix are 2K as well, but optimised to be less DPS intensive to run
