Ι own 4 variax, 2 300, 1 700 and 1 jtv69s (modded with dimarzio) I have 4 more guitars (and 1 l.p. custom coming) but my main guitar that I use 90% is the JTV. Hi Steve, FYI, the models are all accurate, the cabs are off.. Regarding tones, I download for my Pod HD 500 or desktop from the 500(X), Pro(X), and desktop, since they have the same architecture and only different DSP. Ranking system exist, it is with the stars, and I see that almost all your tones are rated with 5 (maximum). Now as for tones, my favorite are from Hurghanico (still have his tones) and stusaysmoo. P.S. Sory, I am more to rock a nd blues music than metal, so I didn't get any of your tones.

I run the same amp with the same cab and different mic - E.R. Example: treadplate>v30>57onaxis>0ER treadplate>30>421>50ER

Hi George, I use the hard gate to most of my heavy rhythm patches, it is indeed better. Normal gates suck a bit of your tone, and the more you are using the more tone you lose. Now for the hard gate, decay works as on normal, hold is to keep the gate open a few milliseconds more, open is on how many decibel to open and close on how many decibel to close. I tend to use thresh at 0, hold at 0, open at-57 and close -40. Thanks for the response mauritzSA I will be waiting to see the new device, although I am very intrigued to buy the torpedo cab due to it's abilities and sound. Thanks alphadog for the contribution, I am well aware of the epsi, but I still want the abilities of the torpedo (eq, mic power amp, cab recording), guess it is worth the money after all!!

Flip top is the model that is more flat sounding, very good for clean. Although I would suggest you to go clean without any amp... Or even go with the amp you will use most.. If you need a list with what amp to use at each model separately I can tell u also, but will be IMO

It was easier on a Berdux (strat style) to change the PU than my 69s... But it was easier to solder my 69s than the graphteck on my 700... Which was easier than change to dimarzio push pull at my flying V...lol

Thanks guys! The main thing is, I want to stuck up with a unit, and pod has the amps - effect I need, but I find the cabs weak. So the deal is to give a 500 for the torpedo or sell my pods, save the 500 and get an axe fx? If the cabs will really improve my sound I don't need the flexibility and processor of axe (as well I will not buy the floor board it is way expensive). So what to do? What I hear one the first video is awesome, i hear the tone I want. On video 2 I hear that the cabs are far deviated from the original... From the other side, if I get it I will just get 2-4 cabins with the 1 speaker and forget about IR that aren't onboard. Thanks both of you guys. :) I still don't know what to do... :(

pod xt live or pod x3 live, at a good price (100-150) otherwise you need to buy a workbench software with its accessories (100 dolars)

I would go with Nico on this one. Bought full bundle, metal pack is the worst value for money, but Peavey is really good amp... Most unfortunate is that metal pack give no cabs at all...
