I have one of them that I was given as collateral a couple years ago (I wouldn't have bought it, it's just not high gain enough for my tastes) used it at church for a few years and then the tubes exploded and I put some hotter tubes in it and it sounded way better, I should have gotten the hottest ones (not going to spend any more money on it). I would try to turn the master up high and the channel volume up around 2-5 (get the cleanest sound you can) turn of boost (fat switch) set the tone knobs all half way. The alternative would be to run it like you would for more distorted sound and turn off the cabs in your presets... I might give it a shot my self if I get a chance.

your unit is definitely defective ... I would return it for another....

when you say that it is when you push the toe switch i wonder if it is the setting in the switch functions under the switch control menu, if you go into that and see what the toe switch on exp is then you might see the problem could be it is set to some global setting that's not right

Like I said it sounds like to me that it is scrubbing the side of the opening not the pivot point making the sound, I will have to get on the floor and let someone else work it up and down to see if I can pin point the cause.

I've made a few presets with multiple amps and paths and some different ways of switching them. if you check my post history I have shared them here you may or may not like them but they might give you some ideas on how to deal with this until the problem is dealt with

Don't fret my friends!!! GC still had not shown that the stock had been received in the main warehouse when mine was received in the store and I had preorderd and paid for it back in the beginning of August and I finally got mine the end of October... and a BIG YES as for it IS worth the wait!!! You won't be disappointed.... also it was more than 30 days past the first estimated availability but Line 6 had not given a release date either at that point.

Mine dose the same thing.... looks like only a few that have this problem.... I noticed that if I don't lean on the unit (like I do on my Vox Wha) it don't do it... but to answer your question I thought of using graphite like what is used in cameras. I saw where you started a topic on this but I haven't looked to see if there was any option for that... for that mater I am not sure what you are talking about on the M20D

did you set it to Pa / Reference?

I have a FCB1010 and have thought about the possibility to use it with Helix and utilize the expression peddles on it.

The reason I posted this was just to show the guy has an ear for tweaking these kind of units. The amplifier is just one he recently got he has an ax FXll also.. of course I don't know what the presets he made with it sound like because I don't have an ax FX two and haven't seen that he made a video like this but originally when I found him on the 11 rack presets forum he was making presets for the 11 rack and he made presets for every type of music in his preset pack,300 to 400 presets and they are all extremely well done. This is exactly what I was saying about the 11 rack, I am not a good tweaker as well but I have come up with what I think are some pretty decent sounding ones on the helix. I posted some here and one with an IR that I made myself but only got one response so I don't know how good it actually is or if it sucks. My thought is that the helix being newer hardware is probably better than anything you could get out there at this point, it's potential I don't think has been unlocked for many of us to see this the reason I posted the video was in hopes that possibly someone in charge could at least commission this guy to make some presets to show the abilities of the unit. not every engineer that worked on this unit I'm sure is a sound engineer or a really good tweaker, we see from the presets right? It was the same thing with the 11 rack even the Sweetwater presets that were put out by Sweetwater for those who bought theirs from them were not near as good as the ones that Singtall created for it, the factory ones really were pretty horrible and I was not pleased when I went through them when I purchased the 11 rack.

does it have the same stiff type foam inside like the M20D bag it's hard to tell from the picture. I really like the bag for the M20D. the price is a little steep though... I hope to get it at a discount at GC around black Friday or Christmas. looks like there is enough room for 2 expression peddles in the outer case right? I really love my Helix.

OK after reading all these posts I am even more confused than I already was. I have been using 2 L2M's (standing up with there level set to unity ie: 12 o'clock or at the notch or 50%) connected with the L6 link and haven't turned the big knob past the 9 o'clock position and have made no global changes in my Helix and that is extremely loud. so if you could possibly post some pix of the Helix display with the parameters your speaking of that would be very helpful. Also as mentioned above "the balancing the different vol of presets" (on the 11 rack it was called "rig balancing" and there was a nice little menu for doing it) whats the best way to do this with the Helix?

There are a bunch of free rewirez IR's that I found plus other ones that were given out on the gear page by a dude named freeman also so more I found by just doing a Google search. The GKH I R is some that was called guitar hack or something like that and a keeper cabinet that someone gave out that they made from the keeper the other ones I'm not sure I just was dragging and dropping stuff from that folder into the MixIR2 program. Well running a loop of a little rhythm I was doing.

There are also two empty banks beyond the first to factory banks the second factory bank which I thought had some useful things or leaset let me see some of the stuff that Helix could do. It wasn't too bad and was only about half is full

There are two versions one is with factory cabs the other is with my custom IR I made with MixIR2 (from Redwires) from free IR's I found around the web. you have to put the one named GHK.wav (my fav) at Impulse #035 in your HELIX app. the preset is called Clean, Dirt, Metal and you have a clean tone a rock tone and a metal tone all in one preset... let me know if you like it or not. Hey thanks for the list I wasn't sure what are some of those were supposed to be because I've not been in the loop when it comes to stomp boxes for the past probably 20 years since I used and SGX2000 express since early 90s and 11 rack the past couple years

There is there is a guy that I met on the 11 rack forum he goes by the name "Singtall" he made a preset pack of dang near every artist that you could think of and nailed all of them then he got the EPSI IR loader and Took the 11 rack to a new level the guy has definitely got in the ear for dialing up tone on these amp simulating machines he recently got an atomic amplifier and started to make presets for it someone over at atomic evidently caught wind of some of what he was doing and put some of his presets on on their site for people to download I've always said if one of the big three companies would grab this guy and give him their machine and let him do all the factory presets they would definitely pay for themselves as people would be singing the praises of their machine because right out of the box there would be useable presets that people would notice. So if somebody's over at Line 6 would get a hold of the guy give him a helix and let him make a preset pack and just start with the next firmware update change all the factory presets to his. I guarantee you wouldn't be sorry. Here is a clip he made on YouTube of some sounds on the atomic amplifier they're pretty dang convincing...
