The closest to you would be Yamaha in Germany (YME).

Flux residue and solder beads around the connection points of the pick-ups. He cleaned the area, just needed a little extra touch-up by me. I know, it's a little off topis for locking tuners.
-
Red plating,... if it's the same tube position, then there is a failed component allowing too much current on that circuit branch. Will need to be troubleshooted further, or the amp board portion replaced.

Go into the Knowledge Base, there is one for the JTV-69S and another one for the Variax Standard. There's a Standard in an earlier post above.

Yes, other magnetic pick-ups. Certain things to follow,... 1) The DC resistance (DCR) specification of the pick-up needs to be between 6k and 8k Ohms, or the EQ tone will be too dark or too bright. 2) Wiring needs to be according to the wiring diagrams in the Line 6 Knowledge Base. 3) No active circuit pick-ups with other batteries. That and the Line 6 VDI or Battery supply will not be compatible.

Magnetic pick-ups?

DiMarzio Pro Track,... yes, that works. seen a couple of Variax guitars with DiMarzios of the Hum Canceling types retro fitted in them, come across my bench. Including Richie Castellano's a couple of his JTV-69S guitars. They sound pretty good and are in the DCR range spec. They work good.

:) And I'm honored and happy to be Richie's wing-man. Worked on one of his 69S guitars a couple weeks ago. Couple of connection glitches, some fret work, a few odds and ends. Just in time for one of his Thursday night FB live events. All sounded good. And remember to use the wiring diagrams in the Line 6 Knowledge Base.

Check out the pick up swap topic at the top of the topic section.

" Would be nice if there would be modeled tri-sonics available in the workbench. " --- Submit that to the Line 6 section of Idea Scale. And there's also adjusting pick-ups and pots/capacitors parameters in Workbench HD.

the 8.59k and the 8.63k are on the edge, so they're usable. As you go higher it will start to sound darker in EQ tone.

Realistic Bundle
psarkissian replied to arislaf's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
arislaf,... and I take it you remembered not to "over-normalize' the amplitudes. I recall you were good about that. -
" ... what wiring diagrams would I need? " --- See my previous wiring diagram post above for the Standard. It must be followed. These are not passive circuits that can be altered. Do not mess with with wiring to the 5-Way switch circuit. The spec on that pick-up shows a 7 k-Ohm impedance. Impedance is a function of frequency and therefore is the incorrect terminology to use. If that 7 k-Ohm spec is the DC bulk resistance (DCR) of the coil/magnet at the wire leads, that would be the correct terminology to use, and that would be the within the 6-8 k-Ohm range spec for this guitar. Do not mess with series/parallel or change the phase aspects of the circuit. That will alter the 6-8 k-Ohm range spec in the circuit downstream. Don't do that.

"I`ve read that U.S. made Variaxes use Hipshot Open Grip Locks" --- Yes they are. They have good feel to them and work really well.

There are a number of components involved, not just that regulator, so yes, it will fail again. How far down the road I'm not certain. Part of it is thermal, part of it is a possible corruption of a couple IC's due to thermal issues. Would require service here (we have tech with a set-up for this), or at a Line 6 authorized service center. Good idea to log a support ticket in your account and get with them regarding options. 1.2V regulator,... there are other elements involve than that. That's as deep as I can get. You won't be able to get the parts needed, as some of them were made for us, so self repair is not an option for a complete repair job on it.

Fluence Modern Humbucker Pickup
psarkissian replied to MIKEY9966's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Don't do that, the specs won't match to the rest of the circuit. And the 9V option will create problems with the JTV supply rail. Not compatible. -
Spider iv 15 constant "machine gunning" sound loop
psarkissian replied to Benjaminw's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
Either a failed solder point on a clock crystal or bypass filter capacitor. -
Flextone 2 software needed!

Just want to make sure everyone is aware. Very good.

- Take it to your local guitar shop/music instrument retailer and check it for fit there at the counter. It saves you the trouble of multiple trips and hassle. - Check that the tuning post diameter does not result in a side-ways breaking angle with the string nut slot. - Check that the tuning post string hole is not too high. An elevation breaking angle of 12-15 degrees needs to be maintained between the tuning post and string nut slot. - Check that the screw hole mount and alignment nub line up. - Some tuner have an order of line up of the tuners to correspond to the string diameter.

And a battery charger, computer interface device and USB cable, to do firmware updates using Line 6 Monkey, and connecting to Workbench HD.
