  1. I've added native to the shopping cart but no discount is added. I have registered my helix to my account a looong time ago. How to get my discount?
  2. Nice! That tool opens up a lot of doors.
  3. I agree. It took me a few runs to make any distinction between the different modellers although Pod farm and Guitar Rig stood out during the first run.
  4. The Pod farm were a bit weak sounding and so was Guitar Rig. Also both sounded a bit muffled. The Axe FX were just a bit more full sounding than Helix/TH3. But the helix won me over by it's piercing pick attack.
  5. Thanks for sharing the tip. As always you are very helpful. I do see where you are getting at but please confirm: If I record a dry track using my Helix as input device and then run the dry track through Helix native using the exact same patch then the sound should be the exact same. If I normalize or in any other way edit the recorded dry track before running it through helix native then of course it would produce something different even if using the exact same patch. Right?
  6. Microsoft's Peter Provost nailed it when he said: Agile software development is about delivering the software you want at the time you deliver it instead of delivering the software you think you want at the time you ask for it. Being a software developer for 30+ years the transformation to agile development has been a blessing. We still have to deal with deadlines but deadlines are no longer set in stone. Both developers and business people need to be flexible when it comes to deadlines. Treat them as nice-to-have goals but be prepared to adapt if they're not met. My understanding is that helix native is entering it's second month in beta. Not unsual to spend 3-5 sprints( 2 -> 3 weeks each) to get rid of errors uncovered during beta.
  7. Native is in beta now. Maybe it will be released within a month or so. Who knows what the massive beta team will uncover....
  8. I'm sure you know what I mean. :) When releasing a piece of software that outperformes the old version you won't sell many copies of the old version after the release. A flash sale that close to release date is good for business but also serves as an indication....
  9. The flash sale on model packs etc. ended the other day. It's not unusual for companies to unload excess inventory that way. When Helix Native is released then Pod Farm, model packs and all that stuff is old news. Just saying....
  10. So cool. Maybe you could experiment with adding more attack to the guitar tone to make the solo rythm sections deliver more punch.

    Helix High Gain

A couple of tricks I use on all my presets: use the amp bass control to cut the low end out if you want a tight tone - you can always add low end with an eq block after the amp. Add a distortion block like the stupor with zero gain/overdrive and tone/level set at noon+ at the beginning of your path to get more "attack" or "pick attack". I do use gate on the input block - it does affect my sound but not in a negative way. And compression can also be added to taste. I'm into testament, slayer, exodus etc. and I've managed to create some tight killer metal tones using the above with both cali lead amp and the archon lead amp. For this I use various IR's from Rosen Digital, Cabir.eu and Ownhammer. Sometimes i also use 3SA's but not so much.
  12. For me Cabir.eu and Ownhammer are the goto IR's when I need tight control. For quick results but with less control I use Rosen Digital. To my taste Rosen Digital is better than 3 Sigma Audio because of the IMO less pronounced lows. And don't forget the Allure Pack - good stuff.
  13. Looks good. Waiting for the windows version.
  14. Agreed. Also consider JBL LSR305's. Good small frfr
  15. Forgot to mention that. That's a really important point.
  16. I'm running my Helix floorboard through a pair of LSR 305's. On the LSR's, select +4 on the Input sensitivity and set Helix output to Line level. Depending on how hot/loud your guitar pickups are consider turning on the Guitar In pad. From the manual: "If your guitar or bass has active or really loud pickups, you may want to turn this on. There's really no rule; use what sounds best." I've it turned on just in case. My main axe is an Ibanez with active pickups. But honestly it didn't make an audible difference when switching from on to off and back. Zip. Also some users fiddle with the global eq settings (High pass/ low pass) - others don't and prefer to sculpture their sounds using eq in each preset. As silverhead says the built-in presets should sound at least okay. I've managed to get some decent High Gain sounds (for metal) with the Archetype and Cali amps using both IR's and built-in cabs. I prefer IR's though. A couple of tricks I use on all my presets: use the amp bass control to cut the low end out if you want a tight tone - you can always add low end with an eq block after the amp. Add a distortion block with zero gain/overdrive and tone+level set at noon+ at the beginning of your path to get more "attack" or "pick attack".
  17. And i thought it was just me. I too find the 3 Sigma's way too bass heavy for my taste. The Rosen Digitals are more balanced and less bass heavy but not as balanced as the ones from cabir or ownhammer. I'll have to take the Celestions and the Redwirez for a run but as I remember they are more like OH/Cabir than 3S or RD.
  18. Is that Ayers Rock you're holding in your hand?
  19. The part about disabled devices is important.
  20. Nice! The one in the middle is awesome. Yours are a bit more rounded than mine. Mine has a very sharp tip. I can't stop wondering if the stone pick will last forever while the strings will hit the rigor mortis stage after a few runs.
  21. Okay I get It.. Funny how one misspelled word completely derailed my thoughts and I just couldn't get back on the track in order to understand the rest. Anyway thanks for the tip. I have this neo-classical style piece that i've been struggling to nail at 120 BPM alternate picking. Tonight i'll apply your method. It kinda reminds me of another cyclic method I use. Start by playing the piece at a certain tempo. Every time you nail it two times in a row bump up the metronome one notch. If you fail three times in a row reduce the metronome speed by a notch. You don't really care about how many repetitions you're going to do or how many you will do. All that matters is you constantly evaluate progress and adjust accordingly. Do this for 15 minutes and then stop, take note of what speed you reached and move on to some other exercise. Next day start at the same tempo as the day before and do the exact same drill. After 15 minutes you stop and take note of what speed you reached. Better, worse or the same? If you keep reaching the same speed a few days in a row quit the piece for a period of time. Go learn something new and exciting. return to the piece when you are motivated to do so.
