Need help choosing amp or PA
mcbeddall replied to khoff2's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
L2t is your best bet if you are setting up patches with headphones, your sound will be very close to what is reproduced by the pa system (although obviously there is no substitute for setting up patches at gig volume) You should always insist on using your gear the way you prefer at gigs, if he was micing up the vox there is no reason you couldn't just plug the xlr from the mic into the back of your hd500 With the lt2 you can send a signal from your hd500 to the lt2 for your on stage monitoring and an output from the hd500 xlr's to the pa for front of house, you could then plug your keyboard into the lt2 also -
Yeah it won't do two separate mono paths, that's how the hd 500 does it

Yeah changing patches seemed good enough, so glad that it's fixed, now I feel like I can finally invest some serious time into creating my tones Regarding the perceived change in sound since the update; I didn't mess about altering my tones too much as I was using headphones (it's late here) and I want to try it with my amp first, it's possible I may have tweaked my patches the last time I rehearsed with the firehawk, I really can't remember. I did have a quick play with one of my "go to" tones and dialling the treble and gain back a bit seemed to get me back to how I remembered it sounding without too much effort. Oddly though it seemed like my tones were affected more, the presets all sounded as I remembered them. I'd say the gain was the main culprit as I don't use many high gain sounds yet a lot of my created tones wouldn't have sounded out of place in a megadeth covers band

"Also with FW 1.20 I hear less sonic detail and new Fizz and sizzle on the high end" Hey Steve, I also noticed that a lot of my patches now sound a bit thinner and fizzier since updating, not by a massive amount but they definitely require tweaking. My crunch patches seem to have more gain /drive than I remember too, but could be just the way I remember it as it's the first time I've had the firehawk out of the box for a couple of months

Shame about the stereo thing though as that was my main reason for wanting the L3 over an l2, I realise gig wise I wouldn't create a stereo field with it but thought it might be handy when dialling in patches that might be sent left and right to foh

Yeah I get the amp in the room thing, I used to run my pod XT live through a wharfedale powered speaker which was entry level at £200 and I never missed the amp in the room sound but it was a big heavy wooden cabinet, in contrast more recently I ran a zoom g5 through an alto powered speaker and I really did miss the amp in the room feel but I sort of drew my own conclusion that it might be due to the plastic cabinet
-
Yeah cheers, wasn't sure where I would find a response

Thanks for the reply My main reason for looking into this rig is I'm fed up of having to recreate my live patches if I'm recording direct to DAW with the firehawk, my thinking is that if I run the L3 in pa or reference mode and create my patches they should transfer better when I switch to recording direct, What do you think?
-
Thanks Is it possible to run one of them in stereo? And if so, does it have to be the l3t? And how does it sit with the "amp in the room" feel, I know that's a can of worms but will I be missing something switching from a mustang iii running into the fx return?

I'm thinking of getting a stagesource L3 to run my firehawk through, are any of you guys using that set up? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a stagesource L3 to run my firehawk pedal through, I'm sure I read somewhere that you can run the L3 like a 2x12 stereo cab but I was curious which model does this? (l3t or l3m) or can both do it? Also the firehawk doesn't have l6 link and I'm not sure if that's required Thanks

I had a lock up on the old firmware mid song so I knew exactly what patches I was changing from and to and exactly what I was playing, guitar, set up etc but I couldn't recreate it at will, just seemed to be completely random the way it occurred
-
It's a lot lot lot easier than the hd500
-
Speaker sims are present on the headphone output, you can hear them when you switch between them
-
Man that sucks
-
Zoom g5 is a great pedal, just be conservative with the gain settings otherwise it can sound very processed

Ok so I had a look on my Android phone and when you hit the cloud icon it gives you the option of uploading to the cloud or share (when I hit share I get an error saying I can only share tones I've created, I have created my tones by modifying the presets on the firehawk so maybe they don't count as mine or maybe I just found yet another bug) Normally when I hit share in other apps one of the options that comes up is "copy to clipboard " you can then paste that as a weblink (I can't get that far so I'm only assuming)
-
You can share them via twitter, I've seen some posted so there must be a way of posting a link I guess
-
To be fair the tester might totally agree with us and informed line 6 of the issues but he's not going to publicly flog them on a forum as he might not be asked to test in the future That's the straw I'm clutching at anyhow, otherwise my day is ruined lol

Wow his response has me very worried I honestly don't see how anyone can see it that way, I actually got told to stop using the firehawk at a local practice studio, the owner was walking past while I was changing backwards and forwards between patches listening to how bad the pops are and he said I was gonna blow his speakers, yes he is a bit of a muppet sometimes but I honestly can't blame him, it sounded so unhealthy I've never owned anything else that does this between patches
-
Good video! Really liked that jazz clean tone, do you share your tones? Cos I really want to steal that one
-
So did you check your firmware? Did you try playing songs that are stored to your device instead of a streaming service?
-
In that case I'd ask whoever you bought it from if they still have it
